Crusty bread, real butter and jam, as a rare treat 😋

I cant remember the last time I had jam! I went to the shop for croissants and jam but they didn't have any croissants so I got crusty bread and apricot jam.

It was delicious.

Nah best breakfast is seeded bread sandwich, with butter, mashed avocado with tonnes of lime, salt and pepper, crispy grilled bacon, crispy but runny fried egg, Frank's red hot sauce, with a massive cup of tea. Breakfast of champions.

My parents also do a fab breakfast if we are staying there. Starts with grapefruit, then yoghurt, honey and granola, then oven cooked bacon, perfect fried eggs, oven baked mushrooms and tomatoes, toast with loads of butter and proper Yorkshire tea from a tea pot, sometimes, if any toast last, will have a cold slice with butter and marmalade on. It's unreal. Usually eat it around 11 and nothing else needed until tea time!

My favourite "treat" breakfast is crumpets with Cadbury's chocolate spread. So good!

LemonadePockets · 01/02/2020 20:21

@Zoidbergonthehalfshell and the good lorne! None of that Malcolm Allen sh*te

Shannith · 01/02/2020 20:27

I can build on the theme of croissant, break cheese and jam. Whipped cream.

Discovered the cream by the toasting/bread pastry station, near the butter and jam. Hotel buffet obviously, not my kitchen.

I returned a few many times and no one else seemed to have spotted it.

So I had about a whole massive bowl with warm croissants and a selection of jams.

That was a good day.

They actually refilled it but I had to admit defeat.

Either:porridge with berries and yoghurt
Or: poached egg on seedy toast spread with soft cheese

lilgreen · 01/02/2020 20:30

Or in the event of a hangover :
A crusty white roll with a fried egg, crispy bacon and plastic cheese slice plus ketchup.

Shockers · 01/02/2020 20:32

Bubble and squeak with poached eggs, or porridge with honey and apple.

My two favourite breakfasts.

lilgreen · 01/02/2020 20:32

Ooh @shockers, I like it.

lilgreen · 01/02/2020 20:33

I actually love breakfast and could have variations of breakfast for every meal.

Shockers · 01/02/2020 20:35

I could too @lilgreen!

Greenpop21 · 01/02/2020 20:36

In summer: cold overnight oats with grated fresh apple and a spoon of Greek yoghurt plus squirt of honey.
On a chilly morning: boiled egg, toast with soft cheese and marmite or hot porridge with honey.

toofarbelowzero · 01/02/2020 20:39

I agree with the op. I made this bread the other day, it was heaven with just butter and jam. No knead bread, the easiest thing ever! I couldn't find my dutch oven, so I just used a regular pot and it turned out great. www.jocooks.com/recipes/no-knead-bread/

SeaToSki · 01/02/2020 20:41

American butter is made from sweet cream.... so it is a tiny bit sweet. Its not a good thing.

Livpool · 01/02/2020 20:43

I love salt and pepper crusty bread. I ate a whole loaf when drunk once.

I'm not even sorry 😐

dementedma · 01/02/2020 20:50

Black pudding has to be MacLeod’s of Stornoway!

OlaEliza · 01/02/2020 22:51

@AlwaysCheddar It's a rare treat because I'm diabetic so I try not to eat bread and I never buy jam.

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 01/02/2020 23:18

@LemonadePockets Yes! I should have specified.

It's gone 11, I'm in bed, and I REALLY want a proper Scottish breakfast now...

iklboo · 02/02/2020 09:29

Black pudding has to be from the Bury Black Pudding Company Wink

mrsBtheparker · 02/02/2020 17:27

Cantaloupe melon, strawberries and Black Forest ham, if Lidl get their supply sorted, topped with lightly crushed black pepper and a drizzle of balsamic.
For crusty bread we've been getting the sourdough baguettes from Aldi, delicious, about 8 minutes in the oven.

Black pudding has to be from the Bury Black Pudding Company

Having previously bought it from Bury market, OH has started having Stornaway black pudding, he says it's much better, personally makes me heave.

ItFigures · 02/02/2020 17:32

It’s got to be toasted and well done at that. Salted butter and jam. Sub-bloody-lime!

I do love eggs benny mind but I always associate that with brunch.

GettingUntrapped · 02/02/2020 17:39

I love how you all just join in this conversation like it's over the garden fence. Maybe it's the digital version of that. Ha ha.

GettingUntrapped · 02/02/2020 17:41

I'm just a single mum with time to kill.

GettingUntrapped · 02/02/2020 17:42

I'm finding it a very good thing in case there were doubts.

iklboo · 02/02/2020 18:09
