Cup of tea and a fag otherwise known as the 'Blackpool breakfast', is an excellent precursor to all other breakfasts.
I do enjoy a good breakfast, make breakfast burritos quite a bit a the weekends, but a good brunch with any fried left-over mash or roast potatoes, bacon and a fried egg with either chilli sauce or malt vinegar liberally applied. Black pudding wise, after living in Co. Cork for five years Clonakilty black pudding is the best, it has barley in which makes it a little more toothsome than a pure blood pudding. Also white pudding.
But yes OP, crusty bread, (I always hollow out the middle and eat just the crust) with cold salted butter and apricot jam is bloody lovely. And apricot jam is the best for this treatment. Although strawberry with scones or croissants.
Weekday breakfasts tend to be boiled eggs with sourdough toast, avocados on sourdough with poached eggs, a cheese omelette or ham, sliced tomatoes and sourdough with olive oil. Maybe some fruit.
Always an earl grey tea and a coffee after.
Steak and eggs is an excellent breakfast treat. Occasionally smoked fish, but not salmon, smoked mackerel on toast or bloaters are best for breakfast, salmon is too oily and fey.
I take breakfast quite seriously!
