AIBU to think this is still one of the best Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes?

James Marsters was in Tourchwood for a bit too no? And other sci fi bits and bobs.

Same as everyone else, love tabula rasa, band candy, hush and the body (mom mom mommy) plus basically anything with spike - the end of s2 with bad angel and dru especially.

I was wondering about when to intro dds.they are 10 and like a bit of monster/gore within reason so that won't bother them but I did wonder about some of the sex. Especially the ones in s6 with buffy and spike. I may leave those. Or just watch them. Just me.

TheZeppo · 31/01/2020 21:50

Grave is a fab episode. There are SO many good ones!

Something Blue is hilarious and foreshadows so much. Restless confuses people but it really highlights their characters.

Giles singing 😍

MothershipG · 31/01/2020 21:51

I was so relieved when DD loved Buffy and this episode in particular as it would have been sad if I'd have had to disown her. 😂😂

What other shows have done musical episodes? I have a vague recollection of a Flash one? This is surely the original and the best!

BamboozledandBefuddled · 31/01/2020 22:01

DH started watching Buffy way before me and it was OMWF that got me hooked. Didn't know it was on Prime so that's the next few days taken care of Grin

Met James Marsters at a Torchwood convention. Got a kiss goes rather gooey at the memory He's even more gorgeous in the flesh.

geekone · 31/01/2020 22:02

@Juliehooligan - you mean the episode where a teacher grooms a child, sleeps with him, then dumps his sending his emotions into turmoil and then he accidentally shoots her. The one where child abuse is treated like a romance?

Funny how things look when you watch them 20 years later. I loved this episode too but couldn’t see it the same after becoming a parent.

Zeppo and something blue are excellent

Darkbendis · 31/01/2020 22:11

YANBU!

Love, love "Once More, with Feeling!", love "The Body", "Hush", and lots others. I cheered, laughed and cried with the Scooby gang and so many other great characters! Glory/Glorificus was so good, I cried when Tara died , Drusilla was a crazy favourite of mine and I have always been "Team Spike". I met Spike and Xander at a couple of Comicons, James Marsters was very friendly and polite, my boy (who loves the show too) had a nice little chat with him

ImportantWater · 01/02/2020 11:06

What other shows have done musical episodes?

I seem to remember Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps doing one!

Juliehooligan · 01/02/2020 19:45

@geekone so true! You forget about the grooming factor when they become Buffy and Angel.

amusedbush · 01/02/2020 20:30

I LOVE Buffy, I’ve watched it through several times (currently on season four - again!) but I can’t watch the musical episode. In fact, I’ve never watched it all the way through.

Ditto Greg’s Anatomy. It makes me cringe myself inside out.

amusedbush · 01/02/2020 20:31

Greg 😂😂 GREY’S*

FaithInfinity · 02/02/2020 00:37

Scrubs did a musical episode. It was good but not as good as OMWF.

Vectura · 02/02/2020 00:47

@MouthBreathingRage

‘The episode where she finds her mum has died is some incredible bit of television. The first few minutes being total silence, the characters reactions (especially Spike), the entire thing is haunting and beautifully done.’

What is Spike’s reaction that you’re remembering? It’s been a few years since I watched it but from memory I don’t think Spike is in that episode?

DisasterMagnet · 02/02/2020 00:51

“It could be witches, some evil witches, but witches they were persecuted, Wicca good and lovely earth and I’ll be over here...”

PenOrPencil · 02/02/2020 15:38

Thanks a bunch, vipers. I love Buffy and thought it would be a fun idea to download the soundtrack to OMWF and listen to it while at the gym. It was fun at first, yes, but then I had to very quickly leg it into the showers cause I started to cry on the treadmill!
I need to convince dh that it’s time for the yearly Buffy marathon.

SweetpeaOrMarigold · 02/02/2020 17:39

I've been listening to the soundtrack again since this post and still remember every word! Think I know what my next boxset binge is! Had forgotten that whole crazy Willow storyline, mainly just remember Spike and more Spike Wink

Welshmaenad · 02/02/2020 17:58

"I think this line's mostly filler..." 😍

SurpriseSparDay · 02/02/2020 18:14

Just stumbled upon Denver Comic Con 2017 while searching for something else on YouTube. James Marsters without the pseudo-English accent and bleached head Is Not The Same. Sad

lazylinguist · 02/02/2020 18:17

Best thing ever! We all know it off by heart in this house (including dd and ds who haven't yet watched Buffy) because we listen to the soundtrack!

Wicca good and lovely earth and I’ll be over here...”

Isn't it 'love the earth', not 'lovely earth'?!

Soubriquet · 04/02/2020 13:50

I am so not watching this again today!

SweetpeaOrMarigold · 26/02/2020 09:08

I've started from the start again Grin

FleetwoodMacMummy · 26/02/2020 09:19

I met Anthony Stewart head and James Masters at a local comic book / sci-fi convention when I was 13ish and me and my best friend (and her mum) camped out all night in line! They were both SO lovely!
