AIBU to think this is still one of the best Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes?

Oooh I love Buffy so much. It really was such a fab show. I agree that stand out episodes are Tabula Rasa, Hush, Dopplegangland and The Body. I find The Body so hard to watch because I lost my Mum at a similar age to Buffy. It’s beautifully done.

lazyDaisy I love how they finished it. Season 6 was a bit bizarre in places but I think it finished strong. Sometimes I wonder what they’re all up to now! There are spin off comics but I’ve never read them.

I watched up til season 4 of Angel. I really must try to persevere to the end because I understand that it gets better again but it’s just...meh in the middle!

NaviSprite · 31/01/2020 19:18

Angel got weird because Charisma Carpenter got pregnant IRL so Joss Wheden had to rush a new storyline to fit around that, the actress has said since that she felt Cordelia’s character was punished for her ‘messing up’ JW’s plans for the story.

Fred is the best OC from Angel IMO. Liked seeing more of Wesley too 😁 but the episode “Billy” was not so nice. Great opening music for both shows too!

Soubriquet · 31/01/2020 19:20

Oh it’s definitely worth preserving with angel

Season 6 is quite amusing as it has Spike in it

It is definitely worth the perserverence (Angel that is).

Supernatural is also a favourite of mine and when I saw Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters in the same episode I geeked out - I’m so lame 😂

afrikat · 31/01/2020 19:28

I LOVE this episode. Any time somebody says 'I've got a feeling' about something I start singing that song. And no one ever knows what I'm on about
Both my kids have Buffy related names (not completely intentionally but I love the connections)
I'd say this is my favourite show of all time, it's so clever, brilliantly written and quite often heartbreaking. The soundtrack, even beyond this episode, was also awesome. I used to play the CDs constantly

Thymelord · 31/01/2020 19:29

Holy CRAP, that behind the scenes video posted up thread 😍😍 James Marsters singing and playing guitar.

When OMWF first premiered I didnt like it. It grew on me enormously over the years. Agree with previous posters that Hush is fabulous, and The Body.

Ratasha · 31/01/2020 19:30

Season 6 is quite amusing as it has Spike in it
That s5. Angel only had 5 seasons. Smile

Juliehooligan · 31/01/2020 19:48

The one with the Sadie Hawkins dance is the best by far! X

gerbilgirl · 31/01/2020 19:56

Saw the title of this thread and thought no way was this about Buffy......but it totally is!!

Definitely not unreasonable and it was one of the best episodes Grin

Singlebutmarried · 31/01/2020 20:07

The episode in angel where the turn into muppets type puppets.

3luckystars · 31/01/2020 20:09

@Dan68
I hated Angel, no way would I ever watch that. I really hated it.

3luckystars · 31/01/2020 20:12

I'm so happy to be here Smile

giddyasakipper · 31/01/2020 20:15

I opened this threat with wishful anticipation and it turned out exactly as I hoped! Favourite TV episode ever!

ChazP · 31/01/2020 20:15

I really hoped that was what this thread was about! Love Buffy. Love love love this episode!

tutorwho · 31/01/2020 20:18

This soundtrack is always played at the parties held at the Vampire Ball convention. Kristine Sutherland is going this year Shock

giddyasakipper · 31/01/2020 20:21

I have the sheet music book from the episode and am trying to dig it out of the archives!

TheZeppo · 31/01/2020 20:21

Ponygirlcurtis thank you! It’s actually one of my favourite episodes, though it took me a while to appreciate it. Just love that it did t take itself so seriously 🤣

Meggie2008 · 31/01/2020 20:27

I've got a theory, that it's a demon. A dancing demon! No, something isn't right there...

Lana1234 · 31/01/2020 20:29

I'm so glad this is about Buffy!!! I grew up watching Buffy and was obsessed. Re watched them all so many times it's just class and once more with feeling is defo top 5 episodes! Sarah Michelle Gellar is my forever girl crush 😍

WistfulBarnacles · 31/01/2020 20:32

I was listening to this on my commute home yesterday thinking it was about time I rewatched them all again!

(I might just have named one of my children Xander Blush)

giddyasakipper · 31/01/2020 20:33

I rewatched the entire series when I was on mat leave and it felt like the ultimate treat.

AGnu · 31/01/2020 20:54

Ah, thanks OP, my depression's been bad recently & I've been trying to figure out how to lift it. Watching OMWF half a dozen times ought to do it! Grin

I feel like Grave is an underrated episode. It doesn't seem to get mentioned much on these threads but I love it!

Hush & the one with the kids in hospital still terrify me now. Ditto the Sadie Hawkins one. I love Band Candy. It felt wrong fancying someone as old as Giles when I first watched it... I did though!

flirtygirl · 31/01/2020 21:09

I was hoping that your title meant Buffy.

Yes one of the best episodes of TV, period.

flirtygirl · 31/01/2020 21:14

James Marsters was recently in Marvels Runaways, 3 seasons and was fab. Still very fit.

afrikat · 31/01/2020 21:26

WistfulBarnacles I have one of those too!!
