Not bitter - afraid.

Villanomme · 31/01/2020 13:33

Wow it is crazy how bitter the Remainers are. The vitriol is astonishing.
A lot of their argument seems to be that Brexiteers are ignorant, arrogant and uneducated etc...

Well sadly the handful of Leavers I actually know are either that or closet racists...

KidLorneRoll · 31/01/2020 13:34

A lot of their argument seems to be that Brexiteers are ignorant, arrogant and uneducated etc..... but judging by the language and tone that Remainers are using here it seems they should be looking in the mirror at who is ignorant, arrogant etc."

Yup, I am bitter. Bitter that my kids will grow up in a country that doesn't enjoy the undeniable benefits EU membership brings.

And yup, I maintain that people who voted for this shitshow are ignorant, because in 4 years not one has proved otherwise.

Sorry about that.

PerpendicularVincent · 31/01/2020 13:34

Sad

wowfudge · 31/01/2020 13:34

I don't see things (whatever they are) improving once the transition phase has ended. It'll be different, but economically it's unlikely to be better. So I doubt I'll be admitting I was wrong about wanting the UK to remain. But have your celebrations is if makes you feel happy. I'll be asleep at the witching hour later.

ThePlantsitter · 31/01/2020 13:35

Yes I'm bitter. Because I've been robbed. You want me to shake the thieves' hands? Tough shit.

RhymingRabbit3 · 31/01/2020 13:35

Oh piss off

Elbels · 31/01/2020 13:37

I shouldn't have come into this thread, I'm angry enough as it is, but mostly sad about the future. And I have a passport now to another EU country so have it better than most.

Those of you celebrating 'independence day'. Did you genuinely care about our position in the EU before the referendum was called? When do you think you'll start to see any positive impact from leaving?

SueEllenMishke · 31/01/2020 13:37

You need to extend your social groups then don't you?

GladAllOver · 31/01/2020 13:38

After that childish display of flag waving in the EU parliament, anyone supporting Brexit gets a big FUCK OFF from me.

TheSandman · 31/01/2020 13:39

fuck off

Dulra · 31/01/2020 13:40

Victory day? Fgs you would think you fought the eu long and hard on the battle fields to achieve this. News flash Britain chose to join the eu when their country was on their knees no one coerced or forced you to. Britain then chose to leave after their referendum no one forced or fought you to stop you. Please don't act like it's some kind of victory because it is insulting to all those nations that were colonised by force by Britain in the past and fought long and hard with many lives lost to gain their sovereignty and independence from Britain.

KidLorneRoll · 31/01/2020 13:40

"You need to extend your social groups then don't you?"

No. Leavers just need to come up with one good reason for Brexit.

Just one would do.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 31/01/2020 13:40

Labour were not the only other party standing. In Scotland the SNP wiped the floor with both the Conservatives and Labour.

Scotland are a part of the UK so that's irrelevant.

Yes 56% of people didn't vote for the Conservatives but the Conservatives got the most votes. You tried to say they only won because they got the most seats, which just isn't true.

eenymeenyminyme · 31/01/2020 13:41

Best day of my life so far

Really??? I've had thousands of better days than this! Actually feel sorry for you if you think this is as good as it gets...

SueEllenMishke · 31/01/2020 13:43

i'll admit to being relatively ambivalent before the referendum but don't assume that is the case for everyone. My DH has campaigned for this for years. He was, and still is, very passionate about us leaving. He's realistic and knows that change will take time but is pleased that today has finally arrived.
He's not ignorant, racist or stupid - quite the opposite. He's tolerant, embracing of other cultures, educated ( to PhD level) and the most politically aware person I've ever met.

TooGood2BeTrue · 31/01/2020 13:45

@madcatladyforever 'Best day of my life so far.' Your life must be pretty boring? Also who are these French and German people whose lives have been destroyed by the EU? I'm one of them, and I'm genuinely intrigued.

Oulu · 31/01/2020 13:46

Best day of my life so far

Goodness, how sad. Better than birthdays, maybe better than a wedding day or days when children were born, better than days with people you love and friends, better than the best holiday you've ever had.

Seriously, that's a real shame.

Alsohuman · 31/01/2020 13:46

Best day of my life so far

What a very sad and empty life you’ve had.

whatsthecomingoverthehill · 31/01/2020 13:46

Is he starting posts on discussion boards crowing that he's 'won'?

Oulu · 31/01/2020 13:47

OP, what exactly makes you so happy about being in a situation where we are subject to EU regulations but have no say in what those regulations are or how they're enforced?

Notonthestairs · 31/01/2020 13:48

The only day worth celebrating will be when austerity is over. If and when that comes about I'll be happy to raise a glass with Leave and Remain voters.

Celebrating without knowing the terms of any future trade deals seems farcical.

SueEllenMishke · 31/01/2020 13:48

No

ThePlantsitter · 31/01/2020 13:48

Well SueEllenMishke I'm glad you're proud of your hubby and he's influenced your feelings on the EU. Perhaps he would like to come on here himself and mansplain to all us laydeez how wrong we are and finally explain what the fuck the point of Brexit is?

And maybe apologise for depriving me of something that was very precious to me and my kids in the name of his precious fucking opinion?

Scunnered03 · 31/01/2020 13:49

Laughing at all the Union flag waving! Don't they realise that this is now the end (thankfully) of the Union. Happy " One More Step To Scottish Independence" Day. Leave the light on for us EU, we'll be back.
