That’s because every single reason for Brexit has been ridiculous so far. Still waiting for anyone to make a reasoned argument for this.

They can’t!

People have stopped bothering because some other people won’t accept any reasons whatsoever.

Let’s say I’m anti-abortion and you’re not. Whatever you say is not going to convince me you’re right. Convince me.

smemorata · 31/01/2020 18:48

The EU once issued a directive that said we all had to start referring to milk as "liquid bovine product".
No they didn't. If you are against the EU have the decency at least to come up with real reasons.

YouTheCat · 31/01/2020 18:49

Rich people will get richer. So if you're already minted, you're laughing all the way to the bank. If, like many of us, you're just living from one payday to the next, you're stuffed.

smemorata I know! That's why I called it stupid, because it's obviously utter bollocks.

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 31/01/2020 18:50

@Cinammoncake
And that’s good and I would enter a conversation with such minded people but when you have someone asking someone for their opinion but then telling them, even before hearing what their opinion is, that their opinion is wrong and they won’t change their mind, what is the actual point?

SevenStones · 31/01/2020 18:50

It's partly sovereignty, partly economics and partly immigration

The usual bollocks, then.

Cinammoncake · 31/01/2020 18:51

People have stopped bothering because some other people won’t accept any reasons whatsoever.

Not so. They never had any good reasons. If they did have, they would be not only saying them, but repeating them. Why say that they've said all the good reasons but don't want to repeat them. Because it didn't happen.

TeddyIsaHe · 31/01/2020 18:51

People have stopped bothering? They never gave any decent reasons in the first place, which is WHY they keep getting people picking apart what they’re saying. Because it’s ridiculous, always.

YouTheCat · 31/01/2020 18:53

This is what it's all about.

PhilSwagielka · 31/01/2020 18:55

Happy Brexit Day.

Happy brexit day

@Cinammoncake
@TeddyIsaHe

I’ll refer to my post above:

Let’s say I’m anti-abortion and you’re not. Whatever you say is not going to convince me you’re right. Convince me.

Whatever reasons you give are going to be ridiculous. I will never believe that abortion is a good thing. If you can tell me it’s right, then give me your reasons. But your reasons will never be good enough to make me change my mind. But tell me what they are.

LuckyAmy1986 · 31/01/2020 18:56

@RunForBurritos haha love it!

TeddyIsaHe · 31/01/2020 18:58

@BritneyPeedOnALadybug just another ridiculous avoidant tactic to not answer the question.

It’s been 3 years, I’ve seen them all.

Cinammoncake · 31/01/2020 18:58

britney In that argument it's more like

-give me your reasons
-(person with NO reasons) I already have
-no you didn't
-look there's no point because you don't agree

and, it's not just an argument, as the actual status quo has changed too. With still no good reasons given.

nicky7654 · 31/01/2020 18:59

@farage4PM.

Have fun x Gonna have a glass or two later for this monumental day in History x

BrexitBingoGenerator · 31/01/2020 19:01

Woop, get in.

Nothing like whipping up some flags and celebrating the nebulous transition period before leaving one of the largest trading areas in the world. So excited that the EU27 are busy deciding what non-negotiables they will saddle us with in due course.

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 31/01/2020 19:01

The bottom line is it's a happy day for Leavers and it would have been great to have just one thread for us to celebrate

Poor you. It must be awful to have got your own way.

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 31/01/2020 19:03

@TeddyIsaHe

You haven’t asked me a question. I’ve asked you one though and you haven’t answered it.

@Cinammoncake
and, it's not just an argument, as the actual status quo has changed too.

You’ll have to expand as I don’t know what you mean by that.

I also directed a question to you too which you have seemed to side step.

yolofish · 31/01/2020 19:04

Well, I guess it is a monumental day in history - but for all the wrong reasons.

I work with a lot of French people - with no exception they think the UK is completely insane to be doing this. They dont understand, and when I say that half the population dont understand either they are even more perplexed.

But yeah, I'll raise a glass to seeing a historic day - one that I never wanted to see, and one that no one can give me a single concrete reason for.

Mordred · 31/01/2020 19:05

"The EU once issued a directive that said we all had to start referring to milk as "liquid bovine product"

Wow. Liar. It sounds like the sort of thing Boris Johnson used to come up with when he was a 'journalist'.

TeddyIsaHe · 31/01/2020 19:05

@BritneyPeedOnALadybug what are the benefits of Brexit?

I’m not getting into a discussion about abortion with you because I don’t believe an issue as important as that should be used as a way to prove a point.

MoonlightMistletoe · 31/01/2020 19:09

Is there a Brexit for dummies thread ?

I've been interested in Brexit , watching the news, reading about it and sill I have no fucking clue what is actually going on!

So 11pm we leave the EU sort of ?
What is the actual deal?

Skyejuly · 31/01/2020 19:12

I feel a bit sad to be leaving!

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 31/01/2020 19:13

@TeddyIsaHe

I’m not getting into a discussion about abortion with you because I don’t believe an issue as important as that should be used as a way to prove a point.

The irony Hmm
So I’ll take it that you can’t explain why abortion is a right, and not a wrong thing, like “I think” then? Because you haven’t got any reasons for your opinion. Okay.
