It’s rude to take one look at the dinner I have cooked then get lots of condiments for it.

I spend time preparing a meal that is tasty and balanced, H takes one look at it, doesn’t taste it or anything, just gets his collection of condiments from the fridge and smothers his dinner.
We are talking things like truffle mayo ( he is a bit wanky with his condiment collection) so things that will fundamentally change the flavour of the meal. And no, I didn’t make fish and chips. ketchup or mayo, not both, would be acceptable in that case.
I think it’s unbelievably rude of him, he thinks it’s perfectly fine.

My oh does this with salt and pepper! Before he has even tasted it! It's so annoying he knows it winds me up aswell . I dont let it bother me anymore as meals that have more than enough flavour in it will be ruined with the extra salt and pepper so I sit back enjoying my dinner knowing full well hes just f%&&ed his up lol

But if he eats it, then he prefers his food over seasoned.

Vulpine · 02/02/2020 14:50

Or sinistersparkle prefers their food underseasoned

"Potato on pizza is a classic Italian preparation"

Not the way it is in my husband's country I guarantee, unless the Italians favour potato wedges as a topping.

SinisterSparkle · 02/02/2020 17:42

@KatherineJaneway could very well be the case but who puts salt and pepper on gravy?

By the way my food is never under seasoned I'm a lover of flavour, herbs and spices and not afraid of salt.

Vulpine · 02/02/2020 17:48

Seasoned perfectly for your tastebuds but not your oh

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 02/02/2020 17:56

I love the way people seem to think that just because they like the way a meal is seasoned then everyone else should. Adding condiments might ruin it for you but to others it improves the meal.

SinisterSparkle · 02/02/2020 17:59

Not just my tastebuds. It is my job , theres a few clients that have told me theres too much seasoning and that's ok because that's what they like so I cater to their taste buds, I also do functions and always get complemented on the dishes.
My oh just loves to throw salt and pepper on everything regardless what it is . As you said that's to his taste but it still winds me up! shrugs

Someone who only likes very strong flavours I guess, someone whose palate is a bit shot. Salt enhances flavour, pepper is a spice. Sounds like he has to have all flavours on overload to enjoy food.

Once went to a relatives for dinner it was boiled potatoes, veg and some meat. No gravy. I straight away went for the ketchup as I hate dry food. It was not meant as an insult but in my opinion if you serve boiled potatoes with no sauce, you can't blame someone for adding some moisture.

SinisterSparkle · 03/02/2020 06:27

@KatherineJaneway you know what, I didn't look at it for what it was untill you just stated the obvious, I just instantly took offence to it Grin but it's all just clicked into place! He has sinus issues and if in right that affects your tastebuds lol that changes everything!
Theres no helping my son though! He puts mayo on everything, even curry! Confused

Completely understand about the ketchup that would not annoy me if I didn't serve gravy I would of had a range of condiments on the table ready. Was your relative offended by it? Tbf I would have been offended (light heartedly) being served meat and too veg dry lol

KatherineJaneway · 03/02/2020 12:53

@SinisterSparkle

Mayo on curry? Shock How does he do that? Does he mix it in?
