To ask those who work FT, what time do you get home everyday?

Vilanelleisreal · 28/01/2020 07:59

And what time do you leave in the morning?

I leave for the day at 7:20am and arrive home at 6:30pm. Working hours are 9-5. A lot of my time is spent waiting for public transport (trains mostly).

I feel like by the time I’ve got home I have no time to do anything! I’d love to leave be home earlier each day, but I wonder whether it’s ever possible (I work in the city) and what the norm is for other FT workers on here.

And then finish at 7 , back by about 9.30

Missarad · 28/01/2020 18:28

I'm very lucky. I work in outpatients as a nurse specialist (not nhs) no managers etc watching me so I go when I'm done. I work 9-5 set of at 745 take kids school then go work. Today someone cancelled so I finished at 330 and was picking kids up at 4 and home for 420 lol. Normally I'm done by 445 home by 530 with kids. Tomorrow I'm in city centre and hate driving in town so be bk prob 6 tomorrow as need to get on tram etc

TeethingBabyHelp · 28/01/2020 18:30

I leave at 6 and get home at 5 - would be 4.30 home but I do nursery pick up on way back. I work an hour from my house but I WFH 2 days a week or else I'd look for something closer

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 28/01/2020 18:33

Leave at 6.40am, home at 5pm (I work 8am to 4pm, commuting into London.

Minty82 · 28/01/2020 18:34

I do school drop-off on the way to work, so leave the house at 8.30, work 9.30-5.30, home by 6.15. Though I’ve now negotiated to start at 7.30 one day a week (when DH does drop off) and take short lunches, which frees up enough time to let me to do school pick up twice a week.

silencebeforethebleeps · 28/01/2020 18:34

Leave at 8.30, get home by midday. Work from home until about 6.30/7.

girlofthenorth · 28/01/2020 18:37

Out of the door by 8.30 and at work by 9 , then leave at 5 and home by 5.30 , it's great . If I go by bus I'd add half an hour to that either side but it's easier to go in the car, and park close to where I work , especially in the winter ..in summer I'm planning to walk a bit more to work .Thats two days a week .
I work from home two half days and work locally another two half days so all within easy walking distance . I would hate a long commute !

girlofthenorth · 28/01/2020 18:38

Not completely FT , I only work 4 days

bee222 · 28/01/2020 18:38

Leave at 7:15. Get home any time between 5 to 6:30pm

happydays00 · 28/01/2020 18:41

I'm freelance and generally WFH now but pre kids, when I worked FT I would leave at 7:30 and home by 7pm, unless I went to the gym before work when I'd either leave home at 5:30am or get home at 8pm. If we had an event or a pitch i was quite often our 6:30 to 9pm or later.

My commute was a killer and I don't miss it at all.

danadas · 28/01/2020 18:42

2/3 times a week I leave at 6am and home for 8pm. The other 2/3 days I WFH so it balances out.

CharlotteMD · 28/01/2020 18:48

I work for the NHS in a senior professional medical role so I work shift patterns that can keep me at work for 12 hours. I get home when I get home. That can be 8 o'clock in the morning or 9 o'clock at night, weekends and or bank holidays , even Christmas Day. And yes, I have three kids. Husbands has same job as me. We have to schedule time for a shag. Love my job though. Wouldn't do anything else and I'm bloody good at it too.

Curlyshabtree · 28/01/2020 19:01

Leave between 07:30-07:50 and home at either 17:45 or 18:15, depending on shift.

Helen4790 · 28/01/2020 19:02

I leave at 6.50am to start work 7am, finish work about 6.20pm, home for 6.30pm. So a long day but a short drive as I moved to the town where I work!

navteexo · 28/01/2020 19:05

I do full time hours, 4 on 4 off - 12 hour shifts. Start at 0630, finish at 1830 and get home for about 7.20pm on a weekday

StCharlotte · 28/01/2020 19:11

After commuting for decades (90 mins each way) I now have a local job, so...

9.00am - Leave for work (walking)
9.30am - Start work
5.30pm - Leave work
6.00pm - Home

EmrysAtticus · 28/01/2020 19:22

Leave at 06:45. Start work at 7. Leave at 3 (2:30 on a Friday), pick DS up at 3:15 then a leisurely wander home so usually get bet about 4.

Keepmewarm · 28/01/2020 19:25

Leave at 06:20, get home at 20:30. 30 minutes each way. Very occasionally get an hour break. Luckily love my job.

Marmite27 · 28/01/2020 19:26

Leave 7:30am. Start at 8am. Nursery drop off is from 7:45am. Nursery a work place nursery and in the same building as my office. 3 minute walk from nursery door to my desk.

Finish at 4pm. Kids in nursery until 4:15pm. Usually home for just after 4:30pm. Except for Friday when I finish at 1pm. Bizarrely I can’t get home before 2pm due to the kids faffing.

I realise I’m lucky to a) live close to work, b) have nursery on the same site and c) have an employer who classes 35 hours as full time.

Verily1 · 28/01/2020 19:26

Between 5.30 and 7.30 usually 6/6.30.

Leave time depends on whether I’m doing the school run or not.

8.30am ish if not (flexitime)

adaline · 28/01/2020 19:27

I currently WFH but when I worked full time:

I was up at six am to get ready and walk the dog, left home at 8.30am and got home at 7pm or later.

It's the main reason I had a career change!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 28/01/2020 19:28

Out at 7.50am to drop the dc to breakfast club.

Two nights a week dh and I travel home from work together and collect dc then all get home at 6.

One night a week I'm on public transport and get in at 6.30. Dh and the kids have been home since 5.

Two nights a week I'm home at 5.30/5.45 and dh and the kids have been home since 4.30ish.

Dh does housework before I get in, so then we can all spend an hour together as a family before dc go to bed, then I cook dinner for me and dh.

MrsStrangerThing · 28/01/2020 19:32

I work 9-5, I do 4 days which includes some weekends. On school days, I leave at 0745, the school run is the opposite direction to work. I get home around 1730, often late getting away so often closer to 1800. Weekends are much more relaxed and less traffic, usually 0845-1615 or so.

TheyDoDoThat · 28/01/2020 19:34

I get home around 5. I leave at 4.45 start between 8-8.30 depending on what I have to do. I’m lucky that I live in a city but work out in a small town. Most traffic goes the other way, I guess people who live in small towns go to work in bigger cities.
Although I’m so used to no traffic if a car has broken down or their are roadworks a few cars feels like gridlock.
I did used to have an hour train commute and long 15min walk each end of station in all weathers. So I feel I paid my dues.

Burplecutter · 28/01/2020 19:38

I leave for work about 6am Mon to Fri. Cycle to work and back. 3 days a week I get to do the school run, two of those I take DD to clubs and the other we chill.
The two remaining work days I do long days to bank enough hours to afford the other 3, usually home about 6-6:30.

OH does the school run and leaves at 7:50 for breakfast club drop off, and is back home for 6:30 after doing two after school club picks ups on my long days.

DD is out the house 7:50 Mon to Fri, then back home between 6 and 6:30 depending on clubs or ASC, Mon to Thurs.
Fri we are home by 3:30 and we do NOTHING!
That was long winded but all 3 of us have to run to a synchronised schedule to make it work.
