But as 'Mary' is an established name for the vagina (apparently), I doubt his use of that name has any religious connections. M/W complex sees a man unable or unwilling to be sexual with his love partner but see other women who are sexually attractive to him as whores. Doesn't really fit here. Thankfully.

Most slang names used by families with children to refer to female genitalia would sound a bit off-putting in a sexual context. 'Mary' was familiar enough to me as a child, but as an incomer I knew that fanny was the more common local term, though that seemed to have slightly ruder connotations to me, so maybe there's something in the W/M theory. The new girls across the road used to call theirs a Mimi, which seemed hilarious to me.
What would you prefer him to call it? Can't you just train him to use your preferred term?
