Would you have a baby at 42?

Stolen off another poster! I have a nearly 6 year old and considering giving them a sibling but not sure this is a good idea given that I'd be 42 by time the baby was born. Celebrities are doing it left right and centre but what about us mere mortals, is it a bad idea?

I did. It's fine.

Neverender · 18/01/2020 19:37

Yup

AriadnesFilament · 18/01/2020 19:38

Nope!

Orchidflower1 · 18/01/2020 19:38

No, I wouldn’t.

DioneTheDiabolist · 18/01/2020 19:38

I did at 44.

ShakeItUp · 18/01/2020 19:39

No, as I said on the other thread, I'd got enough kids by that age.

Laniakea · 18/01/2020 19:39

No

Cloudyyy · 18/01/2020 19:40

No I wouldn’t.

ParkheadParadise · 18/01/2020 19:41

No, I wouldn't.
Had Dd2 at 38. She was a surprise. 23years after Dd1.

zeddybrek · 18/01/2020 19:42

Nope

Pannalash · 18/01/2020 19:42

Yes.

Babyfg · 18/01/2020 19:42

I personally wouldn't. I said if I didn't have my third by 35 I wouldn't try after that (I have a third in the way and not 35 yet)

However that was with the mindset that I already had the two children I'd envisioned. If I didn't, I probably would have altered my time limits. And I wouldn't really think anything much about a 42 year old mother other than what a cute baby

ColaFreezePop · 18/01/2020 19:43

Yes at 43.

debbs77 · 18/01/2020 19:43

Yes, I am. Will be 43 by the time they arrived xx

MrsBungle · 18/01/2020 19:43

I’m 42 now and would feel fine to have another baby. I won’t though. Too big an age gap now.

Notthissh1tagain · 18/01/2020 19:43

I wouldn't. But I don't want anymore.

It will be harder. I did notice a difference between 33 & 36.

But if it's what you want - then go for it.

Liverbird77 · 18/01/2020 19:45

I have a one year old and I am due my second child in July. I'll have just turned 43.
Some people don't have the option to have children earlier and I am incredibly happy.
I've had the nipt test and all results have come back fine.
It's really just up to you. If you want to, go for it!

Oct18mummy · 18/01/2020 19:45

42 would be my maximum upper limit of having a child

Russellbrandshair · 18/01/2020 19:46

Maybe. Really depends how I feel then etc

I think is very individual

onedayiwilllaugh · 18/01/2020 19:51

My sister is 42 and trying for a baby she has been trying for the past year already has 3 DD's 9, 16, 18 and has found out she has mild PCOS but should still be able to fall to pregnant,
She however hasn't told her other children that she's trying for a baby because the 16 & 18 year old wouldn't be very happy 🤷🏼‍♀️

GreenBasket · 18/01/2020 19:52

I am mid thirties and can't have another. It's tough.

Think it through but don't get too tied up in "should I?"

If you can, and you want to, go for it.

skiptheskip · 18/01/2020 19:54

No.

Age 60 with a teenager, no thanks, not for me.

Crazyoldmaurice · 18/01/2020 19:54

No. For me personally I feel it's too old.

35 would be my cut off for kids, I'm due with my suprise third baby this easter and honestly I feel much too old already.

Newname1978 · 18/01/2020 19:58

Go for it

Wanderingbluebell · 18/01/2020 20:00

Personally no, but I have 2 children already. But I understand the desire for a second and I have friends having their first at a similar age so I think it’s fine if it works for you. 42 is perhaps the limit for me though. Age gap is not hugely important imho, I have a 7 and 9 year gap between mine and my step son and it is currently not an issue at all, they all adore each other.
