On the Christmas gift swap thread, I arranged a gift swap on private messenger.

I posted my parcel on the 3rd Jan and was told my parcel would be posted within the next few days. I have not received anything as of yet. I have sent two private messages asking if my parcel had been delivered and that I had proof of postage if they needed it, and could I please have my proof of postage, as I think my parcel may have got lost.

AIBU to wonder if my parcel has not been posted yet?

To the person who I've sent my parcel to, please can you let me know when I can expect my parcel?

Thank you ☺️

Tell them you are sending your big mate round to their address if you don't get it in the next few days and threaten to publish their address! but don't actually do of course.

FlibbertyGiblets · 18/01/2020 20:16

Thank you Jesus.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 18/01/2020 20:30

Thou art welcome, my child.

Don't do any of the stupid shit suggested. Just don't trust people on the internet again.

Hi OP. I've sent you a PM

Jenasaurus · 25/01/2020 17:59

Hope this has been resolved and you received your gift Op

Geneshish · 25/01/2020 18:24

I've done something similar on MN before and thought I had been scammed but they just took a long time. Sometimes things like this slip peoples minds, or they got ill or anything could have happened. You could still get the package but my advice is never give more than you are ok with losing. You could always write them a letter or find them on Facebook but I really wouldn't bother.

giftponderings · 27/01/2020 22:28

Thank you for your well wishes.

Unfortunately I still have not received the original package I was supposed to.

But I had a very kind lady on here message me and she has sent a parcel to me to make up for the one I didn't receive. I was so touched by her kindness I cried when I read the message! 🥰 It has restored my faith again. Still can't believe such kindness to a total stranger. I'm so excited to receive a wee surprise parcel some time this week.

I have messaged MumsnetHQ who confirmed the lady hasn't been active since the beginning of January, so perhaps something has happened in her life.

I think I've found her on Facebook, so may send a message but I haven't as of yet.

Jesus, don't contact her on FB. That is stalkery and weird.

peachypetite · 28/01/2020 07:44

Let it go and learn from this experience.

Guacamole · 28/01/2020 07:45

So a random MNer has been kind enough to send you something and you still want to contact the original on Facebook. Most people would have just let this go by now, I’m struggling to understand why you can’t seem to move on from it. My suggestion is don’t participate in this kind of thing with strangers, it’s a little bit weird.

Please don’t stalk her on Facebook, that’s really strange. Someone’s offered to send you something on here so just do that.

WeHaveSnowdrops · 28/01/2020 07:50

Just leave it, OP.

Move on.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 28/01/2020 07:50

Why shouldnt she send a message on fb....shes been scammed...id be bloody annoyed too....doesnt matter if it was only 10 or 15 quid....id be pissed off that id been ripped off.

Hoohaahoo · 28/01/2020 07:51

It’s a risk you take on an anonymous forum.
Just to balance it though I had a good swap with a MNer. We both had expensive (well £60+) advent calendar gifts we wanted to swap, both of us stuck to our end of the bargain in sending the goods.

Keepmewarm · 28/01/2020 07:52

You don’t seem to be learning from this.

It is nice to hear the good things that happened, both to the OP and to Hoohaa.

You don’t seem to be learning from this

This. In other news, I had an email today:

^This is United Bank for Africa chairman, Tony Elumelu l received a call
from Bob Wigley, Chairman of UK Finance and he stated that your total fund is in safety hand only if you co-operate with us l promise you that you will receive your 2.5 Million pounds only^

Why wouldn't it be true? Hmm

SmileyClare · 28/01/2020 08:16

OOh I wonder what your surprise parcel is? That's a nice gesture.

The cynic in me is wondering if it's some free Forever Living samples and leaflets inviting you to join a selling pyramid Grin
