Strange post received

purplerainboww · 17/01/2020 12:37

I have received 8 tickets from ticket master through the post this morning, total £315
No one in my house has any recollection of ordering them and stranger still they are addressed to my 10 year old DS, the address is correct except for one digit of the postcode. Have checked my bank and credit cards etc no payment has been made either, so would you contact ticket master? Keep them? Sell them??

You have received tickets for an event next November? That is unusual IME, because when I've ordered tickets they arrive between 2 and 4 weeks before the event/concert?

bionicnemonic · 17/01/2020 22:37

I’ve not read the full thread but the op reminded me of someone who had been ‘inconvenienced’ by a stranger calling out their house. The homeowner helped the stranger out. A few days later the stranger returned with theatre tickets as a ‘thank you’. The homeowner used the tickets, went home and found they had been burgled. An elaborate ruse to get them out of the house.

Flavarings · 17/01/2020 22:38

🤔 How strange!

Choice4567 · 17/01/2020 22:38

(Joins the crowd)

incognitomum · 17/01/2020 22:46

How odd Confused that would freak me out.

On another note a neighbour took an Amazon parcel in for us. Dh went to pick it up. The house stunk of skunk and he'd opened it! Cfer.

Chihaha · 17/01/2020 23:00

Have you Googled the name and address? It should tell you if that's the name because of voters rolls etc. Obv you can opt out though. Also try the surname in the phone book.

ivegotthisyeah · 17/01/2020 23:07

What concert??

shedidwhatnow · 17/01/2020 23:10

How can Alexa just randomly order tickets? Why are people suggesting this? Alexa can order stuff from Amazon if you’ve set that up, she can’t just order from any random website Confused

Also interested in how it could be a scam. Just someone using someone else’s card then coming and demanding the tickets?

FlamingoAndJohn · 17/01/2020 23:17

Also try the surname in the phone book.

Sure, I’ll just get my phone book.....oh, wait, it’s not 1988 any more.

I do agree with googling the street and name you should get the 192 entry.

Chihaha · 17/01/2020 23:26

www.thephonebook.bt.com/person/ Hmm

HoneysuckIejasmine · 17/01/2020 23:26

Hopefully it's just a neighbour with same name.

Apocketfulofposies · 17/01/2020 23:27

Does it not have a receipt with it saying how they were paid? If it was legit it would have been bought by card and have a card receipt attached to the tickets.

WankStainWasher · 17/01/2020 23:44

@Notimeforaname I reckon 'Mr Son of @purplerainboww',who resides at OP's address-but-one-digit-of-the-postcode is wondering what's happened to his Level 42 tickets! Grin

Tangofandango · 17/01/2020 23:48

DH once received a cheque for many thousands of,pounds, made out to him, from his stockbroker. We phoned stockbroker who insisted it was meant for do, even though he hadn't sold any shares. We just put it in a spare account to rack up some interest as we knew someone would realise eventually. Several months later the stockbroker called, apologising and grovelling asking for the cheque, or money, back. Made him sweat for a few days before sending it back.

A few months later we were at a neighbours Christmas party and got talking to someone who lived a mile down the road. Same name as dh. Yes it turned out to be his cheque.

isittooearlyforgin · 17/01/2020 23:50

Haven’t read full thread so not sure if it’s been suggested but there is a scam sending tickets, you go to gig, house gets burgled.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 17/01/2020 23:54

StoneofDestiny · 17/01/2020 23:58

Update?

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 18/01/2020 00:15

I used to get post often for a person that lived down the street at a previous house. Our surnames were similar but different - eg, him Mr Farrow, me Mrs Farrell - but the first initial was the same, and we shared a postcode. He had the same for me, and we were forever sticking stuff through one another’s doors. I once got £50 cash for his son in a Christmas card, which I opened along with a load of other Christmas cards by mistake! I suspect this will be along the same lines.

WatcherintheRye · 18/01/2020 00:38

Sure, I’ll just get my phone book.....oh, wait, it’s not 1988 any more.

We still have a phone book delivered every year. Have used it to track down the correct address for post which we have received for someone else, but with our address on it. Must be living in a time warp!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 18/01/2020 00:43

Occams Razor innit.

BlueBell50 · 18/01/2020 00:54
