Strange post received

I have received 8 tickets from ticket master through the post this morning, total £315
No one in my house has any recollection of ordering them and stranger still they are addressed to my 10 year old DS, the address is correct except for one digit of the postcode. Have checked my bank and credit cards etc no payment has been made either, so would you contact ticket master? Keep them? Sell them??

Ah just seen your DH phoned them. Terrible customer service!

If it were me, if definitely nothing to do with your DS, I'd still be very worried about being scammed. There's places like Action Fraud you can contact if you don't want to go directly to the police.

A while back there was a post where person A had received an expensive phone and person B (stranger) turned up in dressing gown & slippers apologising and collected it. A few days later person A received a hefty bill from the phone company! (Person B never seen again obviously!)

Purple they are hiding behind GDPR by saying your husband can’t pass security. Of course he can’t, as you didn’t order them!

Presumably he tried giving email addresses that might have been used?

You could turn this onto them. Put in a subject access request on your son’s behalf (you have the right to do this as the parent of a minor child).

You can specify the information that you want. You coulD try the details of 5he credit card used for the purchase, associated email address, method of purchase (if online, harder to determine whether or not ordered by child, whereas by phone, clear if a child is on the call).

You could also ask for their policies concerning dealing with minors.

MyCatHatesEverybody · 17/01/2020 14:28

Did DH google the ticketmaster website or did you give him the number on the tickets? (if there was one)

ChickenyChick · 17/01/2020 14:43

did money leave your account?

ChickenyChick · 17/01/2020 14:43

talk to your bank

MaisWeee · 17/01/2020 14:43

Interesting. Curious as to who the band is. More curious whether it was Alexa or your son lol.

peachgreen · 17/01/2020 14:48

How strange! Especially as you were talking about the concert. Did you tell anyone else you were thinking of going? Normally there's a receipt in there with partially redacted bank details - do you recognise them?

NewYearNewUserNameForMe · 17/01/2020 14:50

Here for the updates

WhatTiggersDoBest · 17/01/2020 14:50

Could there be someone down the road with the same name as your DS (with that different postcode) who put either their house number or road name into Ticketmaster incorrectly and is now waiting for their tickets?

Noideawhatusername · 17/01/2020 14:50

Maybe your SIL ordered them?

I just wanted to come on to say that twice now I have ordered tickets from ticketmaster and then had my bank account cleared of money. Luckily I got it back as the fraud team were able to trace it but I just won’t use them any longer - I think there are a lot of dodgy employees there as well as the usual online scams etc - maybe the online security isn’t very good?
I used to know someone who worked there (in Manchester) who told me a few tales about fraudulent stuff that went on there that was so easy to get away with and also I worked for a recruitment consultancy that provided them with staff and the amount of temps they get through is ridiculous (and doesn’t really make for a safe, loyal workforce IYKWIM).

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 17/01/2020 15:00

I bought DS some tickets from Ticketmaster and they never turned up! We did manage to get him/friends into the gig but only after quite a lot of additional admin.

Ferretyone · 17/01/2020 15:13

@purplerainboww

I am horrified that when DH tries to do the right thing

CassidyStone · 17/01/2020 15:15

Could the tickets be a gift from someone?

Secretlifeofme · 17/01/2020 15:17

@CassidyStone that was my first thought too.

Ferretyone · 17/01/2020 15:18

@purplerainbow

Ticketmaster will not deal with him. I would be tempted to make a photo copy and write to their head office complaints. There are two problems in that if they are not yours you cannot keep them and secondly that in some way your finances might he been compromised

Amyarmadillo1990 · 17/01/2020 15:19

Definitely not a drunken order over Xmas? 😂 that’s the sort of thing I would do 😫

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 17/01/2020 15:20

I'd blame Alexa, or they are a present from some family member.

It's too coincidental that they tickets are for an event you had a discussion about!

BarbaraofSeville · 17/01/2020 15:25

But how were the tickets paid for? No card receipt or invoice included?

Or if the venue is local, does someone in the family have connections there and have done you a 'I can get you in to see X' type favour, and sent the tickets as a gift?

NettleTea · 17/01/2020 15:29

could the people who ordered them be claiming they havent turned up? If they have proof of postage and ordering, then maybe they can get replacements sent 'to a work address'

NettleTea · 17/01/2020 15:29

but wierd if no payments appear to have gone out

Lordfrontpaw · 17/01/2020 15:31

Sounds like a drunk booking to me...

Frenchw1fe · 17/01/2020 15:33

The only time my credit card was hacked was after using ticket master.
Luckily I rarely go to concerts.
