Name change for this because I'm fuming,
Dh keeps moaning that I don't make his lunch for work , I look after the kids, I work, I clean the house. Why doesn't he make my lunch ?
I keep saying to him we are not in the 19th century just because I'm a women doesn't mean I HAVE to make your lunch. He has hands why can't he make it himself and in the past when I did used to make his lunch if I ever missed a day he would rather spend money on McDonalds etc than to not be lazy and make his own lunch !

Not really difficult to make the person who pays for everything lunch is it?

Difficult? No. Doesn't mean I have to do it,and I didn't. No one's head fell off.

pineapple if you'd bothered to read the full thread you would see that the OP works

And anyway, I don't buy the whole 'him paying for everything' anyway. If you're not working to care for children then that's your job- caring for children not becoming a maid for your husband.

I've never understood why some women on mat leave or who are SAHP do everything.....when I was in mat leave my DH still did his own washing and fair share of household chores and childcare.

I just find it weird how men seem to view wives and 'wifing' as something to be competitive about.

'My mate's wife makes his lunches, I need you to make mine or I'll look bad in front of the lads'.

Sad.

Pineapple, I sometimes make DH's lunch. Not because he earns all the money, but because I am the queen of sandwiches, and make an absolutely spiffing salad. It is not expected, or required, but it is very much appreciated, when I do. If it was expected or demanded, he'd be left with a shit sandwich and it would never happen again. But that would not happen, because my DH doesn't do the wifey competition shit, he's too mature and evolved for that.

What has being double the age got to do with anything?

Devora13 · 19/01/2020 21:17

I can only imagine it is considered normal for the older generation. Which includes my hubby who frankly would find any sandwiches he tried to insist I made for him shoved in a very uncomfortable package.
