(The title is supposed to be a light hearted joke....)

DH and I have one DD. She is 3. We are going on her first holiday in July. I felt like I lost myself a bit after having DD and really took to fashion and I really enjoy styling and putting together outfits, quite eccentric outfits with bold statements pieces.

Like my beloved sandals....

I have a beautiful pair of very eccentric, loud, chunky sandals. I bought them last summer and wore them all summer. As soon as we booked the holiday last month all I could think about was getting my sandals out for the 10 days and I day dreamed about different outfits to wear them with

UNTIL yesterday

We were having breakfast yesterday morning and DH says 'Its ds birthday next week, i'll see her at dm house tonight, i'll ask what she wants for her birthday'

He returned home to say she wanted a pair of my beloved sandals to take on holiday.......

DH then gave her his bank card to order them there and then.

AIBU to be annoyed by this?

They were going to be the only shoe I was gonna bring and apparently she is saying the same because theyre ££££

Dh and I spend £££ on DS and her husbands bday presents and they spend £££ on ours. DH has no other siblings and I'm an only child.

AIBU to annoyed? I don't fancy going around our holiday destination in the same sandals, it would be very noticable. She is 25 years older than me, our sense of style is usually very different so she would style them different to me and we won't be going around in the same outfits head to toe.... but still..... :(

Sorry OP, but Christ alive, who would have thought that there would be TWO people in the world that would be seen dead in those!

Stayawayfromitsmouth · 16/01/2020 14:32

Lol

FishCanFly · 16/01/2020 14:32

YABU. especially with that age difference.

beautifulstranger101 · 16/01/2020 14:33

Sorry OP, but Christ alive, who would have thought that there would be TWO people in the world that would be seen dead in those!

I am cackling at these reactions Grin

Spied · 16/01/2020 14:34

I was expecting 'irregular choice' -Something cool, quirky and fun...
Am speechless....
Are you sure you have posted the correct link?

VeganCow · 16/01/2020 14:34

Sorry but am not sure what's worse- the sandals themselves or the fact they cost almost a grand. Perhaps post this in Style and Beauty, they might get it over there... people saying that no one will notice you both wearing them said that before seeing the link.

Hoppinggreen · 16/01/2020 14:34

they were going to be the only shoe
We’re you planning on hopping everywhere?

QueenOfOversharing · 16/01/2020 14:35

Ok. She has them now, so find some new ones that'll you'll love for your holiday. For that budget you have a huge choice.

TipseyTorvey · 16/01/2020 14:35

This is hilarious. I am nearly crying with laughter (yes literally). Thanks you for brightening up my day OP. Anyone who pays £980 for those is probably bonkers and probably a really good laugh 🤣

Applepea1 · 16/01/2020 14:36

I would be annoyed. If they were just normal sandals then fair enough but they aren't and your sister in law should have realised that. Can you buy another special pair of sandals and keep them for your holiday? (I don't know what your finances are like and these are expensive!) You will hopefully have lots of opportunities to wear them over the summer and another pair for hols.

Hoppinggreen · 16/01/2020 14:36

I don’t know what’s more ridiculous- the shoes or the description underneath

Whynosnowyet · 16/01/2020 14:36

Will she spend the same on you?

punnetofgrapes · 16/01/2020 14:37

those are the ugliest shoes I have ever seen as PP have said I'd box them up and send her them so she has two pairs! Joking aside, everything my husband buys his brother copies. When we go out with him, my DH and DBIL generally look like twins. He even copies jewellery... I have recently returned an overcoat which I spent ££££ on as my DH said it will only be a matter of time before he gets one and then he cant wear it again Grin - I think its sweet [hmmm]

Tink2007 · 16/01/2020 14:37

Oh god, they are horrific. And nearly £1000 as well. Mugged springs to mind.

littleolwinedrinker · 16/01/2020 14:37

I know theyre a bit mad but they're like walking on clouds, I just pair them with very basic things like denim skirt, plain white tshirt, cycling shorts and plain crop top

WorraLiberty · 16/01/2020 14:37

'FARFETCH'. I can't believe how aptly named they are...

mencken · 16/01/2020 14:38

you had me going there, OP...

terrifying that it is worth selling these ghastly items, although I suppose they are at least vaguely walkable in. And they will put a smile on the face of anyone passing by should they notice.

Owlypants · 16/01/2020 14:38

They look very shiny, surely they would be blinding in the sunlight. Sorry OP but they really are something else, i can't stop looking at that picture....I'm sure you love them but they really are sandals for the brave

KurriKurri · 16/01/2020 14:38

Holy fuck those are gopping.

WorraLiberty · 16/01/2020 14:38

I know theyre a bit mad but they're like walking on clouds

So are crocs apparently.

I actually never thought I'd find myself saying this but...buy crocs!

Cherrysoup · 16/01/2020 14:40

6 months in advance, you've already decided which sandals to take on holiday? FML, have you nothing better to worry about?

1FootInTheRave · 16/01/2020 14:40

They're not my cup of tea but I see your point re copying.

Does she do this frequently?

I have an acquaintance that copies me and has done for years. It irritates the shit out of me tbh.

Morgan12 · 16/01/2020 14:40

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Whitney168 · 16/01/2020 14:40

they're like walking on clouds

So are Skechers, at a fraction of the price, and at least you won't look deranged ...

You could even glue your own crystals on and I can't imagine they'd look any worse.

ChicCroissant · 16/01/2020 14:41
