(The title is supposed to be a light hearted joke....)

DH and I have one DD. She is 3. We are going on her first holiday in July. I felt like I lost myself a bit after having DD and really took to fashion and I really enjoy styling and putting together outfits, quite eccentric outfits with bold statements pieces.

Like my beloved sandals....

I have a beautiful pair of very eccentric, loud, chunky sandals. I bought them last summer and wore them all summer. As soon as we booked the holiday last month all I could think about was getting my sandals out for the 10 days and I day dreamed about different outfits to wear them with

UNTIL yesterday

We were having breakfast yesterday morning and DH says 'Its ds birthday next week, i'll see her at dm house tonight, i'll ask what she wants for her birthday'

He returned home to say she wanted a pair of my beloved sandals to take on holiday.......

DH then gave her his bank card to order them there and then.

AIBU to be annoyed by this?

They were going to be the only shoe I was gonna bring and apparently she is saying the same because theyre ££££

Dh and I spend £££ on DS and her husbands bday presents and they spend £££ on ours. DH has no other siblings and I'm an only child.

AIBU to annoyed? I don't fancy going around our holiday destination in the same sandals, it would be very noticable. She is 25 years older than me, our sense of style is usually very different so she would style them different to me and we won't be going around in the same outfits head to toe.... but still..... :(

Where do we stand with these MN'ers?

Very understated for me but I had my eye on them a while ago

The OPs DH bought them for the sister. He handed over his bank card.
He (you?) spend almost 1000 euros on a present for a sister (in law).

No wonder it's your first holiday for a while Confused

midwest · 16/01/2020 15:01

Two this is a stealth boast.

Having seen the shoes it really cannot be.

Buggedandconfused · 16/01/2020 15:01

C’mon this is a joke people.

SonjaMorgan · 16/01/2020 15:01

@littleolwinedrinker get rid and get the balanciaga crocs instead.

Are you going on holiday together?

Applepea1 · 16/01/2020 15:01

Fab I'm glad you are getting another pair and don't let your SIL see them before the holiday Grin

littleolwinedrinker · 16/01/2020 15:01

I'm 23. I'll be 24 next month. I married into old money and DH is 29. I can't say much more without it being outing

It this a stealth boast, that you can afford sandals costing €980?

potter5 · 16/01/2020 15:02

HOW MUCH!!

icannotremember · 16/01/2020 15:03

Christ, MN attracts more than its fair share of very young women married to very rich men, doesn't it?

FlaviaAlbia · 16/01/2020 15:04

Wow, I was expecting something a bit mad to justify that amount of money but they look like they've been raided from a kids dressing up box.

If this isn't a wind up, please set fire to them immediately.

Inherdefence · 16/01/2020 15:04

Gucci do several pairs like this. All look very comfortable (and equally hideous) so this is your chance to get a new pair in a different colour way or finish.

Sadiee88 · 16/01/2020 15:05

I had a work colleague like this. I can understand if it’s whole outfits, because then you look like twins /ridiculous/need to check with the other person what they are wearing.
Shops sell things so people can buy them. Lots of people, not just one person. If you like things to be one off, customise them yourself.....

Sadiee88 · 16/01/2020 15:05

And show us a photo 🤣

frankincenseandmur · 16/01/2020 15:05

I’m not a fan of the new ones either, but each to their own

olivertwistwantsmore · 16/01/2020 15:06

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

OMG.

Um. Those sandals look like a Millets pair that have been tarted up by a toddler with some rhinestones. They are fugly in the extreme.

But I'd love to have the job of writing the descriptions of the shoes!!
Go for the Stella sandals. they are positively restrained. And they look bouncy!

Fr0g · 16/01/2020 15:06

Seriously, you're old enough to be married, let alone have a three year old daughter?

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 16/01/2020 15:07

Get your DH and her DH to buy a pair also, and style it out. I can see you all clomping walking stylishly down the street together and people gasping in horror amazement at your fucked up superior sense of style.

Where are you going on holiday?

(Fucking La La Land, for anyone that thinks this is real, and I worry that some of you do!)

NellNorth · 16/01/2020 15:07

Old money, my arse. Nobody with any elegance would ever spend or wear anything so hideous.

thinkofablinkingnamewoman · 16/01/2020 15:08

I can't believe I'm saying this, but back to Gucci with you. The Stella ones are ugly AND dull. The Gucci ones are pleasingly barking! (And ugly)

FthisS · 16/01/2020 15:08

Good grief Confused

sunshineandshowers21 · 16/01/2020 15:08

some people really do have many money than sense. as my granny would say, i wouldn’t pick them up at a jumble sale 😂

TheFastandTheCurious · 16/01/2020 15:08

Ooft, they look like a bad craft project. If I was spending almost a grand on shoes, they'd at least look less like something a kid did at playgroup!

I'll stick with my Fitflops
