To be mad at husband (food)

fencedoff · 14/01/2020 18:25

I bath cook my lunch at the start of my working week so I can take nice food to work each day.

I made a big pan of pasta this morning to see me through the next four days. I was rushing around and it didn't have tome to cool so I covered it and left it on the side.

My H ate some, decided he didn't like it and binned the WHOLE contents of the pan because he thought I just "prepared too much".

I'm mad!!!!!!

Batch. Not bath!

I'd kill him. What a selfish idiot. And who wastes food like that? Does he think that he's the only person who matters?

RickOShay · 14/01/2020 18:28

That’s is up with draining your stock down the sink!!
How bloody annoying

AvaSnowdrop · 14/01/2020 18:28

YABU for eating four day old pasta, that’s gross!

usernamerisnotavailable · 14/01/2020 18:28

Sorry but do you not communicate with each other? I can't comprehend a household where the DH would t know this is what you were doing?!?!

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 14/01/2020 18:30

What a prat! Does he not know how to text you to check?

slipperywhensparticus · 14/01/2020 18:30

@AvaSnowdrop

I used to freeze it and defrost as needed 🤷‍♀️

fencedoff · 14/01/2020 18:31

@usernamerisnotavailable me neither!!!

OP posts:
blubberball · 14/01/2020 18:32

Not surprised you're annoyed. Makes me glad to be divorced hearing about shit like this. Sorry.

NearlyGranny · 14/01/2020 18:33

What, without calling upstairs to see if you were keeping it? Can he possibly be unaware of your batch -cooking, money-saving, healthy-living practice? Have you just started as it was a NY resolution or something?!

Time to say to him,

"What am I supposed to do for lunches this week now you've binned my work and our money? If you're sorry, find a solution that doesn't make more work or expense for ME."

AwdBovril · 14/01/2020 18:34

I'd tell him he needs to replace it, as you now don't have time to. Next time, hopefully he'll remember & not eat / throw away your food.

Nothing wrong with 4 day old pasta, so long as it's cooked & stored properly. I batch cook all the time. A better option than 4 day old rice...

Bluntness100 · 14/01/2020 18:35

Pasta is really high risk for food poisoning if not stored and chilled correctly.

He might have done you a favour.

NearlyGranny · 14/01/2020 18:36

AvaSnowdrop, read the OP. It was covered and cooling, we assume prior to being frozen in smaller containers for lunch. Freshly made this morning, so definitely not four days old and hanging around unrefrigerated.

puds11 · 14/01/2020 18:37

Urgh pasta 4 days in a row sounds grim. 4 day old pasta 🤮

But yeah he’s an idiot.

DowntonCrabby · 14/01/2020 18:37

Totally out of order, the fact he hadn’t prepared it meant he should have checked what you intended doing with it. To just bin it was stupid and wasteful.

Is he otherwise controlling or that typical mansplainer type?

Celticrose · 14/01/2020 18:37

Surely if he thought you had prepared too much why would he bin it ALL and not leave what he thought was enough. Tbh his reasoning don't make any sense at all.

fencedoff · 14/01/2020 18:40

I can't fathom how he can think I can misjudge one portion of pasta with a full pan Hmm

FizzyPink · 14/01/2020 18:41

Do none of you talking about 4 day old pasta meal prep?!? I cook all lunches for DP on I on a Sunday and then we eat them for lunch through the week. So that might be shepherds pie, chicken with veg or chicken salads etc. Neither of us has died yet

Haggisfish · 14/01/2020 18:42

A 1kg pack is £1. I cba to be cross.

Namestranger · 14/01/2020 18:43

Ummm what exactly do you think is going to happen to you if you eat pasta after four days 😂 I do it all the time! This website is so weird sometimes.

Do you also not value OP’s time in cooking it? What a testy comment.

Thedeadwood · 14/01/2020 18:47

Why on earth wouldn’t he message you and at least check before binning the lot?

Bickles · 14/01/2020 18:48

I made pasta salad yesterday for today, tomorrow and Thursday work lunches.
I’m amazed people think this is strange!

TripleSeptic · 14/01/2020 18:49

My husband threw out a fresh home baked MASSIVE raspberry and white chocolate scone, that I was saving for supper with a cuppa tea, because he "didn't like the look of it" Confused Angry

Mamawingingit1234 · 14/01/2020 18:51

What did you say/his response

I’d be livid. It’s so wasteful
