Gratuitous posting for traffic, sorry! I'm 30 weeks pregnant with my first and curious to hear stories about all of Mumsnet's birthing stories!

Were you bang on time? Late? Super early? Anyone's water break while speaking at a conference or at a family dinner? How was the labour? Any complications? ..were you prepared and how are your DCs now?

37+1 undiagnosed breech (she's a 1 in a 100!), no time for c-section!! DD spent 2 weeks in NICU. All okay and would never guess there had been some difficult complications.

JTTWC · 11/01/2020 20:12

33 weeks - preeclampsia
36 weeks - twins
1st one emergency c section, 2nd planned c section!

NotYourHun · 11/01/2020 20:15

Waters broke at 40+6, he was born (eventually!) at 41+1. He was 8lbs15oz. He was an emergency (sort of, he was fine, just stuck) cesarean for malpresentation in the end as I just couldn’t get him to shift.

MiaNG · 11/01/2020 20:24

Waters broke 40+1 at 2am, in bed all over my electric blanket. Induced due to GBS and baby born 24 hours later at 40+2 via forceps in theatre. Shes now 18 weeks old 🙂

Ineedcoffee2345 · 11/01/2020 20:25

Both mine were 11 days late Crown Shock

SockQueen · 11/01/2020 20:30

DS1 - induced at 42 weeks. All pretty straightforward for a first timer. Waters broke while I was pushing. 2nd degree tear, no ongoing issues.

DS2 - induced at 39+1, because he was looking massive on scans. Waters were broken by the obstetrician as part of the induction. Took a bit longer than the first, had another 2nd degree tear (down the scar from the previous time) and had a bit of a PPH. No lasting damage!

Whatkatyforgottodo · 11/01/2020 20:33

1 day early with both my DD’s! I had what I thought I wanted with my first, natural birth in a birthing pool with just gas and air. However I am a total wuss with a very low pain threshold and was SO traumatised by admittedly a very fast birth (admitted at 3cm dilated, fully dilated 1 hour later and gave birth 40 minutes later!) that I chose to have an epidural with my second. It was bloody amazing! The contractions were totally manageable but I could still tell when I needed to push and told the midwives. Gave birth during shift changeover so there was at least four midwives in the room! Good luck with your birth! Motherhood has been nothing like I expected, has its highs and lows but I have two amazing girls who make me so proud!

wherethewavesarehighest · 11/01/2020 20:42
