Gratuitous posting for traffic, sorry! I'm 30 weeks pregnant with my first and curious to hear stories about all of Mumsnet's birthing stories!

Were you bang on time? Late? Super early? Anyone's water break while speaking at a conference or at a family dinner? How was the labour? Any complications? ..were you prepared and how are your DCs now?

2 on their exact due date, one at 39 weeks and one at 38 weeks. Pregnant with no 5 currently....

ive never gone in to labour naturally both have been helped along

son 1 18 days over 4 days labour so 22 days over(it wouldnt happen now)he was 8lb 26 inches
son 2 8 days over 16 hours labour he was 9lb.10oz 27 inches

both times induced,took 3 sweeps for no 1, 2 for no 2

due dates were uncertain on both pregnancies though as i dont have periods and go massive early on so they couldnt pin point conception 100% as no last period and babies growth were always bigger than normal

i did find out at 2-3 weeks with no 2 though as he was fertility treatment but the time scan 1 came he was measuring bigger than he should

My waters have never broken in early labour. Always gone at the very last second and the baby flies out on them sort of like the old spice advert. My first was half born in the sac.

OP, my daughter who was born at 33 weeks weighed 4lb 3oz, stayed in hospital for a week. No complications and now a healthy 13 year old. Smile

39+0 based on scan (40+2 based on dates)
40+9

NotQuiteUsual · 12/01/2020 08:18

39+5, 39+1, 40+2.

First one started on Saturday morning, I was excited for my last Saturday morning lay in before baby arrives. But she had other ideas. Exact time our alarm would go off I was woken up with contractions. I was fuming.

The other two were inductions. The second was an emergency induction for severe pre eclampsia. It was Christmas eve and all the staff working that day had Christmas off. So even though it was a scary situation, there was such a lovely atmosphere. Really enjoyed it despite it all.

Last one was a mercy induction as I was on crutches and struggling. Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. I'd genuinely pick induction over spontaneous anyday. I feel much happier labouring in a hospital than at home.

Yeahnah2020 · 12/01/2020 08:35

42+ 1. Terrible induction. She just did not want to come out. Lasting injuries for me. Elective c-section at 37 weeks for 2and 3.

Chocolatedaim · 12/01/2020 08:39

DC1- induced again 38weeks because of hospital error 🤨 horrendous experience. Dd wasn’t ready to come, it took 2.5days and my body was exhausted, I lost a lot of blood as a result.

DC2- I was determined not to be induced again, he was born at 40+5. Gorgeous quick birth, under three hours, no intervention needed, was in the water for a lot of it, but delivered on the bed. Home the same day

28 weeks - twins - healthy six footers now but it was a scary time - thank goodness for NHS x
