Gratuitous posting for traffic, sorry! I'm 30 weeks pregnant with my first and curious to hear stories about all of Mumsnet's birthing stories!

Were you bang on time? Late? Super early? Anyone's water break while speaking at a conference or at a family dinner? How was the labour? Any complications? ..were you prepared and how are your DCs now?

OP posts:

37 weeks. Spontaneous labour by waters breaking. She was born in a water pool 8lbs4 after a 3 hour labour

Geoffreythecat · 11/01/2020 21:51

40 + 2hours!

BillyAndTheSillies · 11/01/2020 21:52

DC1 40+2 but waters had gone on due date.
DC2 37+2. Went on maternity on the Thursday, was in labour by Saturday.

coles85 · 11/01/2020 21:53

42+2 with an induction

thesunhasgothishatontoday · 11/01/2020 21:55

@billy I went in to labour at work. Waters broke in front of very important customer. Hospital 35 miles away and gave birth holding colleagues hand 😂

Coffeeandtv1983 · 11/01/2020 22:00

38+2 for DC1 ended up emergency c section, 38&3 for DC2 - had ELCS planned for 39 weeks but he decided to come before that.

DuggeeHugs · 11/01/2020 22:01

DC1: 40+0 - EMCS after failed induction which began on 39+2

DC2: 38+5 - ELCS

VestaTilley · 11/01/2020 22:03

41+2 days.

Sweep, baby back to back, in to birth centre, sent home, back in and up to labour ward with high blood pressure, epidural, induction, whipped to theatre, spinal, episiotomy, forceps, huge blood loss, safe delivery of DS, blood transfusions, scar that took ages to heal.

You did ask.

But don't worry OP; most women have it easier than me! ...and I'd still do it again tomorrow....

Tequilamockinbird · 11/01/2020 22:04

40 weeks exactly.

snowone · 11/01/2020 22:08

DD1 - 40+5
DD2 - 42 looooooooong ass weeks!!!

Thankfully both spontaneous labours and relatively straight forward births!

Rachierach11 · 11/01/2020 22:08

DC1 - 40+3 elective c section as was breech and big. DC2 - 40+1 waters broke on due date and they came 25 hours.

Sleepycat91 · 11/01/2020 22:08

34+5 and 35+1, appears i dont have full term pregnancies!

CormoranStrike · 11/01/2020 22:10

41+1, 41+1

Near identical pregnancies too.

Second labour was much nicer too.

jenesuisplus · 11/01/2020 22:13

43, and a 3 day labour before crash c-section. DD still allergic to punctuality 15 years on.

Clevs · 11/01/2020 22:14

42+1.

I was induced at 41+5 but a failed induction led to emergency C-section at 42+1.

TurningLeaves · 11/01/2020 22:16

33 weeks
40 weeks

PandaCat · 11/01/2020 22:16

39+2 and 37+2 (only just, born early hours).

MissisBee · 11/01/2020 22:29

33+6, induced due to pre-eclampsia, ended up emergency section. 4lb 5oz, 1 week in SCBU and a brilliant toddler now.
No 2 still cooking, hoping I get a bit further this time

ballroompink · 11/01/2020 22:38

DS1 - 39+3, no complications, felt the first twinges mid morning on a Saturday and gave birth at 1:15am the next day after a couple of hours in hospital. He was 7lb 8oz.

DS2 - 37+2, no complications but he was back to back initially and it was quite sore for hours (first twinges at 5:30pm, pointless contractions for the next seven hours) without much happening. Then he suddenly turned and my contractions went like crazy and he was born less than an hour later Shock I was so shocked at how fast he shot out that the first thing I said to the midwife was 'Bloody hell!' Grin He was 6lb 9oz and quite jaundiced so we were in hospital for a few days but he was totally fine apart from that.

7dayslater · 11/01/2020 22:39

41 weeks.

kleew1 · 11/01/2020 22:41

35 weeks, turned up at hospital 9.5cm dilated...

YappityYapYap · 11/01/2020 22:41

41+4 🙈. He needed to be evicted via emergency c section in the end

headsaway123 · 11/01/2020 22:43

39 +4 with first, 42 with second

Wanderingbluebell · 11/01/2020 23:09

41+1 both times!

Ihatesundays · 11/01/2020 23:15

42+6 they wouldn’t allow it now apparently
