Gratuitous posting for traffic, sorry! I'm 30 weeks pregnant with my first and curious to hear stories about all of Mumsnet's birthing stories!

Were you bang on time? Late? Super early? Anyone's water break while speaking at a conference or at a family dinner? How was the labour? Any complications? ..were you prepared and how are your DCs now?

27 weeks for my one and only child, 12 weeks in NICU.

Insideimsprinting · 11/01/2020 15:25

First was 38weeks second 38weeks. Knew both were going to be early.

Isithometimeyet0987 · 11/01/2020 15:31

33 weeks at 4lb 6oz. She spent just over 4 weeks in hospital. No problems after now she’s a very happy healthy 4 year old.

Sewingbea · 11/01/2020 15:31

41 weeks and 4 days with DC 1. Fully expecting the same with DC 2 but she arrived after a speedy birth at 38 + 2. Completely lost any sense of urgency after her birth, she's a child who is late for everything Smile

PPopsicle · 11/01/2020 15:32

EMCS at 40+3 as GD was undiagnosed until 39 weeks then sudden panic to get baby out

42+1 (pessary induction at 42 weeks)
41+3
40+4

Spanglybangles · 11/01/2020 16:13

Term + 15 days. 3 day failed induction followed by c section = 7lb 1.5oz.

39+3 elective c section = 8lb 0.5oz

Rottenmilkcup · 11/01/2020 16:15

First 40+5 went in with contractions and was put on a drip and had my waters broken to speed it up.

Second 37+2 induced due to pre eclampsia and HELLP syndrome

Both labours were 8 hours but couldn't have been more different.

ReginaGeorgeous · 11/01/2020 16:15

1st child 40+7

elliejjtiny · 11/01/2020 16:19

Dc2 - planned homebirth ending in hospital transfer due to meconium in waters 40+6
Dc3 - planned induction due to prolonged rupture of membranes but went into labour while waiting for a bed on labour ward 40+2
Dc4 - planned c-section due to polyhydramnios, premature prolonged rupture of membranes, baby in awkward position and risk of cord prolapse 35+3
Dc5 - induction due to prolonged rupture of membranes and infection. Emergency c-section due to induction failure, baby in distress and brow presentation.

nearlyfinished1moreyear · 11/01/2020 16:21

38 weeks with DS

Mocha3105 · 11/01/2020 16:22

First son 10 days late, second son 11 days late x

MrsWhites · 11/01/2020 16:29

1st baby - 39 weeks, woke up with first pain, water broke as I stood up. Born 6hrs later.
2nd baby - 39 weeks, barely made it to hospital (and no time for gas and air much to my dismay)!

MerryDeath · 11/01/2020 16:31

#1 was a week early (good boy)
#2 is currently 40+6 and one is not amused 🤨

Em8725 · 11/01/2020 16:40

38+5 6hr labour
41+5 2hr labour.
Going by my dates (I know 100% when each were conceived) it was actually 37+2, and 40+2. Which is weird because both had exactly 3 weeks gestation between them, whichever set of dates I use.

PorpentinaScamander · 11/01/2020 16:40

40 weeks bang on. (Mid day ish as well and weighed national average for that year)

41+3. I was so fed up! Although mainly with my then MIL asking "why hasn't that naughty baby come yet" than with actually being pregnant.

cricketmum84 · 11/01/2020 16:43

42 weeks with DS, induced and had my waters broken.
40 weeks exactly with DD and waters went on the 2nd push.
I must make strong waters lol!

MAM2013 · 11/01/2020 16:44

40 weeks bang on due date, first baby as well

OkMaybeNot · 11/01/2020 16:47

DS: 40+1
DD: 40+1
DD: 40+1

It's my greatest achievement to date, seriously.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 11/01/2020 16:48

40+4 with DS. Natural delivery, just a bit of forceps right at the end.

33+6 with DD. Planned C as she was IUGR & very tiny. She was in NICU for 2 weeks just learning how to feed & proving she could stay warm etc. The road has been a bit more complicated (2 lots of severe bronchiolitis, one requiring a ventilator) but it's more because she is very tiny than because she was prem.

Christmashope19 · 11/01/2020 16:50

Dc1 35 weeks
And dc 2 36 weeks

LaBelleSauvage · 11/01/2020 16:51

Really interesting reading all the different experiences! Thank you all!

For the person concerned I'm writing an article - I'm not (check my posting history if you like) but why would it matter? It's an anonymous forum.

A little nervous about the birth, yes. I'm actually a doctor (not an obstetrician) so most births I've seen or assisted with have been complex cases/emergencies during training, so it's nice to hear a variety of stories from the good to the bad, as I've had a bit of exposure bias towards the negative.
