Gratuitous posting for traffic, sorry! I'm 30 weeks pregnant with my first and curious to hear stories about all of Mumsnet's birthing stories!

Were you bang on time? Late? Super early? Anyone's water break while speaking at a conference or at a family dinner? How was the labour? Any complications? ..were you prepared and how are your DCs now?

33 & 27 weeks, both delivered by emergency c-section.
I’ve never been in labour.

hopelessatthinkingupusernames · 11/01/2020 14:03

DS1 - went into labour on my due date,
He was born early next morning

DS2 - induced at 40+12 (although the due date I was given was earlier than I thought I should be so possibly not as late as that!)

firstimemamma · 11/01/2020 14:04

Got one beautiful ds, he's one and a half now and doing great!

I had him at 41 weeks, went into labour spontaneously. I had a hypnobirth (positive birth company digital pack) and was in the pool for most of the last 2 hours. 16 hour labour in total, very straight forward and spent most of it at home. Had a whiff of gas and air for a short while. Pushing stage lasted half an hour.

My waters went in the final hour by the way - so waters going is definitely not always something that happens at the start like in the movies!

Good luck, you'll be fab Smile

weegiemum · 11/01/2020 14:31

Dd1 - 4 days early
Ds - 10 days early
Dd2 - 36+6 (induced as I'd become acutely unwell).

Xenia · 11/01/2020 14:33

Earliest was 12 days early. Latest was twins botn at 40 weeks to the day ( which is pretty .late for twins as they normally come early). Other 2 a few days early.

41+6 😬 was induced the day before . Not a pleasant experience to say the least. Ds is an only child...

PurpleFlower1983 · 11/01/2020 14:37

38 weeks, first baby

nokidshere · 11/01/2020 14:40

42.5 with my first, then induced and emergency section.

38 planned section for the second.

Both were fine and recovery quick.

RidingMyBike · 11/01/2020 14:41

38 + 2. Induced because of gestational diabetes (the placenta deteriorates quicker than in a 'normal' pregnancy.

It was actually preferable as it was booked in in advance which gave us time to plan and removed any problems with getting to hospital. I'd also had midwives trying to force me to give birth in midwife-led unit which I didn't want as wanted access to pain relief in case I wanted to use it. The induction meant I had to be on labour ward and made the midwives stop pressuring me into the MLU. And I did use all the pain relief options Wink

34, 40, 41
34 week one had an overnight in NiCU but home after three days.

Snowflake9 · 11/01/2020 14:45

41+1 - 34 hour labour ending in an emergency c section. As wouldn't progress past 9.5cm. baby was healthy and happy though so can't complain.

MmmMalbec · 11/01/2020 14:47

36+3- induced with suspected pre eclampsia
40+6- spontaneous labour

Luckystar777 · 11/01/2020 14:48

I don't have kids yet but I know my own birth, I was to be induced the day after I arrived!

HakunaMatataa · 11/01/2020 14:48

My first was 35 weeks. Spontaneous labour. Was already in hospital due to HG and had an awful pregnancy. Waters broke in the middle of the night. Labour was long! DC was fine and well.
Second labour 39 weeks. Very quick labour. Quite traumatic. Ventouse delivery. Baby fine and well too.

2019bride · 11/01/2020 14:48

First child, exactly 40 weeks - one of only 4% of babies born on their due date! Went into labour on the Sunday and had her Monday. Labour was really long, contractions started 3am Sunday and our little girl arrived at 11.59am Monday. Labour was tiring but ok, ended up having to have forceps but aftercare was good, home after 2 days and all well just 4 weeks later.

JJTWhite · 11/01/2020 14:50

1st - spontaneous delivery, 34weeks, lamp treatment for a few days, big baby and well in general, home after a week in.
2nd - early contractions at 34weeks, steroid injections and monitoring, thought because I had e-coli, held on till 37weeks, well no issues and home within 3 hours

Pregnant with 3rd and waiting out 🤦‍♀️
