Gratuitous posting for traffic, sorry! I'm 30 weeks pregnant with my first and curious to hear stories about all of Mumsnet's birthing stories!

Were you bang on time? Late? Super early? Anyone's water break while speaking at a conference or at a family dinner? How was the labour? Any complications? ..were you prepared and how are your DCs now?

DD1 40+4 did everything to get her moving and think, ahem, cuddles with dh did the trick Grin. Slow labour for 2 days then she got stuck so emergency section. Fairly easy recovery, absolutely no post birth issues etc.

DD2 - elective section booked for 39+4. Waters broke at 38+6 in my local icecream shop while I was with toddler dd plus niece and nephew! No contractions until 8 hours later then section, classed as emergency as not booked but wasn't really. Was amazing!! Again fairly easy recovery, no post birth issues apart from a bit of pain in my section scar when I have my period.

Oh and c section didn't stop or cause any breatfeeding issues.

Good luck!

  1. Induction.
  2. Induction planned, but DC2 arrived bang on his due date without prompting.

28+1 - 2lb 11oz. In hospital for 9 weeks. She's had some respiratory issues since, with lots of admissions, but 6 years on she it doing very well.

33+4 - 4lb 8oz. In hospital for 10 days. Needed only minimal support. 3 1/2 years on you'd never know she was born early.

neverornow · 11/01/2020 14:56

38+1 - induced due to preeclampsia
40+1

Pasqual · 11/01/2020 15:01

Expecting #2 and hoping to go early again!

Abouttimemum · 11/01/2020 15:06

34 weeks. Had spent 5 weeks in hospital pre birth with placenta praevia. Emergency C section after a haemorrhage they couldn’t get under control. Baby spent 6 weeks in NICU and was quite poorly. He’s fine now.
I wasn’t prepared for any of it lol.

35 weeks, waters broke. I’d only attended one antenatal class by that point! DS spent one week in Neo Natal Unit as a precautionary, but all fine.

Shesellsseashellsontheseashore · 11/01/2020 15:11

41 weeks exactly and 39+2 for elec c section.

Topseyt · 11/01/2020 15:13

DD1 - 40 weeks +3 days (medically managed due to meconium filled waters). Vaginal delivery driven by syntocinon drip.

DD2 - 40 weeks exactly. Arrived on her due date.

DD3 - 35 weeks by emergency caesarean. Waters had gone and she too eventually began discharging meconium. Did not tolerate attempts to start labour properly using syntocinon drip.

BananaChocolateLump · 11/01/2020 15:15

41 weeks exactly with my first. 40+6 with my 2nd and 39+6 with my third (shes my favourite Grin)

Monkeynuts18 · 11/01/2020 15:21

40+4 - it all started a couple of hours after a sweep!

FreedomfromPE · 11/01/2020 15:22

38+0 6 1 f 2 hours from first contraction
38+0 5 13 f 45 mins
39+1 7 10 m 5 hours.
All spontaneous. Straightforward for the main. I feel quite lucky. Not stretching my luck and I'm done now. You do tend to read a lot of dramatic stories, I think that's probably because they're worth talking about. Mine nor mega short nor long and uneventful don't make great tales Grin
