Hi all, I’m visiting my grandparents overnight, and I heard Gran coughing so I got up to see if she was OK, and she was asleep by the time I got in to the room she was sleeping in, and I’m now sitting at the kitchen table crocheting and Mumsnetting. What about you?

@listsandbudgets you need to phone 111. You could be seriously ill!

Got up for a wee and have a puppy with supersonic hearing. Slightest creak of upstairs floorboards and she's "yay! Time to get up!" despite having a radio on next to her bed.

sashh · 11/01/2020 06:38

Well, as regulars know I'm usually awake in the small hours, so today I had a lie in.

The cafe is, of course, open, I have some rather nice pain-au-chocolat.

lostsoulsunited · 11/01/2020 06:50

It's blowing a gale out there

hellcarryingahandbag · 11/01/2020 07:02

I am eating biscuits left over from the festive period. It’s lovely

vivacian · 11/01/2020 07:43

Surely the people replying now are awake because it’s morning!

hellcarryingahandbag · 11/01/2020 11:23

I fell asleep about 7:35 and I am just awake now.

hellcarringahandbag thank you and sorry for late reply.

I did manage to drift off to sleep once the pain killers kicked in and didn't wake up until 10 when DP kindly brought me coffee. Still feel awful though though at least pulse fallen to 80ish wich is an improvement. Think I've just got the bug everyone else has at the moment but I have to admit this is a bad one

Doing very bad mothering at the moment. DS sitting in front of tv in his pyjamas and dd and dp gone out to the cinema (a 12 so can't take ds 7) ... I'm still in my pyjamas as well

Hope you all managed a bit of sleep later on.

Bloodywhitecat you're amazing. I don't think I could foster at all let alone be patient and kind enough to manage a baby with withdrawel symptoms. Hope he calmed down for you later

kateandme · 11/01/2020 19:27

i love these threads.and people commented from all different time zones.and up to similar and different things at the same time as me.make me feel a bit queesy but nice to think of all the people around the world.

bloodywhitecat · 12/01/2020 01:41

And here I am again. My partner did a stint with our foster baby last night and I am eternally grateful for the 5 hours straight sleep I managed but tonight baby's tummy is giving him hell so I am up and downstairs watching crap TV whilst rocking like a woman possessed in the rocking chair in a vain attempt to soothe him. Poor little thing, the after effects of addiction are wicked in one so small.

bloodywhitecat · 12/01/2020 01:45

And thank you for all the wonderful comments Flowers, I feel very lucky to be able to do what I do. I went through the foster care system myself and the experience wasn't the best back then, I hope I can make a positive difference to the children I have come through my home.

Retroflex · 12/01/2020 02:03

I know someone, retirement age, so no longer fosters, but she gave a letter to each of the children who had been in her care, telling them what age they were, how long they stayed, what they did etc. Those children are adults now, and still keep in touch with her, which I find amazing. She said its like having the biggest family in the world.

Iwouldlikesomecake · 12/01/2020 02:08

I never post about this anywhere but I’m awake because I miss my husband. He’s working away, as he often is. He’s in the forces and we don’t live together most of the time. Often I’m ok with it but sometimes I’m just a bit sad. We’ve only been married less than six months.

val4 · 12/01/2020 02:12

I'm awake because I'm on steroids for a nasty chest infection.....I'm full of energy now😩

EerieSilence · 12/01/2020 02:14

Cats (honoured in a separate thread). Also suffering from fibromyalgia and leftovers from my broken knee four months ago (sciatica and tendonitis) which makes a good night sleep a rare accomplishment rather than the norm.

Suchan1d10t · 12/01/2020 02:25

@val4 same here, coughing and wheezing away.
Asthmatic so used to this in winter but this time my last steroid dose is tomorrow (today) and due back at work Monday so hoping for some serious improvement tomorrow, as so far I'm still feeling crappy. Inhalers by the bed, taking ventolin regularly but can't seem to shift this horrible chest of mine Hmm

kateandme · 12/01/2020 02:28

Iwouldlikesomecake that sounds really tough.do you get to speak to him.would it help if not to write to him or write and email to him telling him about your day etc fears etc even if you dont send it.
when my aunt had this he she put one o his tshirts over a pillow to hug.

FordPrefect42 · 12/01/2020 02:31

I find it difficult to sleep, myself. To be fair, I imagine it’s insomnia, but with me I find I can’t stop thinking about random rubbish, it’s either that or more serious things, but mostly random rubbish. 😕

victorioussponges · 12/01/2020 02:33

My scalp has been itching like crazy since I got into bed Confused bizarre. Wondering if I should just cut my losses and get in the shower.

Iwouldlikesomecake · 12/01/2020 02:35

Kateandme I’m much better off than a lot of people I know, he’s not deployed only posted so we WhatsApp and talk all the time and I do see him once a week or so but it’s just a bit rubbish that we don’t get much quality time together because we might be together one or two nights in a week if that. I’m grateful for what we do get but none of my friends understand as they’re not military. So they generally think we are weird!

Apirateslifeforme · 12/01/2020 02:39

My daughters not very well and I dont feel like I can sleep until I know shes managed to doze off. I'm now worrying about all manner of things!

redcarvoue · 12/01/2020 02:47

@victorioussponges I had seven years where every time I'd get in to bed my hair would itch like it was on fire. Just stopped!! So weird, only when I was in bed!!

BonnieSeptember · 12/01/2020 02:49

15 week old baby who doesn't seem to fancy spending the rest of the night in his cot 😬
