AIBU to be uncomfortable with this adjective ascribed to (nearly 13 year old) child?

Some students are arrogant, but it's not an appropriate term for a parent teacher meeting in my opinion. I'm a teacher, and I have certainly considered some pupils over the years to be arrogant, but would never use that word to their parents.
Whilst the definition of 'arrogant' does match some student behaviour, I feel that in common usage there's also an element of moral condemnation implied in the word and that's why I don't think it's really an appropriate word in general to use about a pupil.
