How do you clean your loo!

Aibu to wonder how everyone cleans their toilet?! I'm more talking about the seat, the lid and under. Do you use a cloth you then wash or a disposable cloth or wipe? How do you get in all the books and crannies to get it clean? It's job I hate doing and I can never get it as clean as others.

Cleaners usually colour code their cloths so it's not 'gross'.
Hotel maids don't (big chain you will have stayed in) so keep that in mind!

Composting toilets! Super for your home grown veg. (Actually, not even joking)

Rosebud21 · 10/01/2020 18:30

White vinegar inside & outside I clean the toilet with white vinegar spray & toilet roll, flushing the paper afterwards, I use a toothbrush for hard to reach areas if needed, & a toilet brush as needed. I live in a hard water area & pour a couple of cups of white vinegar into the toilet bowl overnight to remove limescale, once a fortnight or so.

With my tongue.
Ffs.

I tried the bucket of hot soapy water today and I liked it.

Zebracat · 13/01/2020 23:37

Right new routine. Shaving foam and Dh toothbrush

Chuffit · 13/01/2020 23:52

Leave it a few hours before wiping @Zebracat 🙂

Chuffit · 13/01/2020 23:53

I hope it's his old brush @Zebracat 😂

Jillyhilly · 13/01/2020 23:53

Some satisfyingly insane stuff on here.

I clean my bog with a toilet brush and toilet duck once a week. If I’m in a really good mood I also wipe the seat with bleach and bog roll.

I AM immunosuppressed but have somehow survived many years of this routine - and so have many members of my family.

TheHagOnTheHill · 14/01/2020 00:10

Every now and then I put on the marigolds and scrub off the limescale that no bleach or denture tablet seems to remove. The toilet at that stage had already been bleached so clean when I put my hand in.

Mypathtriedtokillme · 14/01/2020 00:44

Wtf do you need to bleach your loo everyday?
What are you eating that causes that sort of damage?

Wipe over with a cloth and a vinegar & clove spray (cistern and flusher button 1st) or a tea tree cleaner once a week/fortnight and scrub the bowl with the loo brush or old tooth brush & loo cleaner. (Scrub as needed)

I wash my light switches, taps, cupboard and door handles more often than my loo.
Light switches are filthy.
Did no one make bacteria growth plates at school? The loo was never as gross as kitchens, door handles and other frequently touched surfaces.

Using antibacterial cleaners (as they kill 98/99% only) just let the strongest bacteria live and continue to breed stronger bacteria that are more resistant.

buffing to a shine.

Excellent sequencing but I allow our bum cheeks to do the buffing

NeckPainChairSearch · 14/01/2020 01:22

I pour brandy all over the toilet once a week and set fire to it like a big, porcelein Christmas pudding

Grim.

I burn my house down once a week and rebuild it from a sterile flatpack.

Nixee2231 · 14/01/2020 02:12

I also despise toilet brushes and kept replacing them every few weeks because I hated even touching them let alone clean them.

I now have rubber "brushes" from Joseph Jospeh (www.josephjoseph.com/en-rw/flex-toilet-brush) and they're amazing.

No more yuck stuck in any bristles, and they're super durable and easy to clean. I've had them for about 3 years now and they're as good as new.

There's a version with a hidden cubby for toilet cleaner, one without, and plastic or stainless steel versions. I have the white and blue plastic and it just blends into the background beautifully and looks very neat and clean.

@Chuffit. Dh gets the bucket of hot soapy water if he objects to his toothbrush multitasking!
