Besides Harry won't ever be King so why shouldn't he step back. I can't blame them. The press and public have had it in for Harry and Meghan from day one. She could never compare to Catherine (who isn't exactly that wonderful)and everyone including the Royal family have been trying to push them out since they got married.

Re their money. They paid for Frogmores furniture & all its fixtures & fittings from their own money. The external, structural knocking 5houses into one stuff was paid for by the Queen. So are they supposed to hand it back to her & lose all they spent? Harry has £9million from his Mother, money left him from the Queen mother & money from a fund the Queen set up for the brothers. I'm sure he can use that to find a home in Canada & then get prestigious bonkers money 'consultant' or 'representative' roles on the Boards of eco charities in the US. Assume she'll do same & prob revive her v lucrative lifestyle blog too. Their LA friends will have lots of useful wealthy contacts re £ making opportunities.

It's so weird how bitter some people are towards them. Really brings out a really nasty aspect of human nature and makes you realise how easily manipulated people are by the press. Trying to pretend that she's a failure as an actress - 99% of attempted actress/actors never have an on screen role at all. No one here has the slightest idea how stressful it would be to try to start family life with all the country's press baying for your blood photoshopping photos of you to make you look bad and criticising everything you do. Harry never had the opportunity to live a normal life so can't have his cake and eat it in any sense. They have every right to step back and to imagine they could do it quietly is so stupid.

I'm not jealous, there's no way I'd want to be an actress or part of the royal family. Being followed all the time by fans/stalkers/media? Constantly being ridiculed online or in person by people? Nah thanks. All the money in the world couldn't make that fun. Its an awful life. I can see why some of them choose to live in remote places but even that wouldn't be much fun after a while.

MM had her own money. She was independently worth £5 million on marriage. Everything Harry had, is inherited and provided by the Empire and the Tax payers.

They then generate more wealth by investing, which usually means someone being massively exploited.

I hope this post isn't considered in bad taste (it isn't meant to be) but William and Kate often travel as a family. If they had a fatal plane/car accident as a family, then Harry would be next in-line after Charles - this does need to be considered by both the Royal Family and Harry.
