If you want to leave fine, goodbye
But you can’t be half in half out !

OP posts:
Mrsjayy · 09/01/2020 09:51

That is you told sparklingGrin

halcyondays · 09/01/2020 09:51

You’re either a working royal or you’re not. If they insist on wanting to make their own money , then the Palace will probably just take them off official royal engagements. In which case the Queen or Charles will probably end up paying for their security rather than the taxpayer. He may well choose to stop giving them any other funding.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 09/01/2020 09:52

And the OP thinks Megan and Harry are rude and attention seeking.....

cakeisalwaystheanswer · 09/01/2020 09:53

Just when I thought we had got rid of at least two of the appalling RF parasites it now appears that they want to keep their titles, tax payer funded security, tax payer funded UK home and still get a big allowance from the Duchy of Cornwall income that goes to Charles.

So the only real change is that the charity they intend to set up will spend it's first 2 million of income on running their office and it will also have to cover their extensive travel costs. Clinton "charity" mark II coming up.

Harry was born with his snout in the taxpayers's trough, he'll never be self-financing.

Cohle · 09/01/2020 09:54

I agree OP. They seem to be keeping all the benefits (bar about £2m a year) and only giving up the work...

Nor do I think think they'll be able to make money in the private sector easily without being accused of trading off their royal connections. It didn't work for the Wessex's.

Lardlizard · 09/01/2020 09:57

I never said they are rude, I think they are both messed up and deluded
I think lecturing people About climate change then taking loads of privates jets here there and everywhere
Is crass, patronising and deluded

It’s just all do what we say not what we do
And there many examples of this type of behaviour from them

They can’t see the mistakes they make
Thur just think everyone is picking on them

CSIblonde · 09/01/2020 09:57

I suspect they wanted a total out but this was a compromise, as maybe when they broached a total exit , it went down badly. Supposedly the Palace had some idea, but werent really seeing it as a) serious or b) happening sharpish, so thought it was a glitch that could be smoothed over. Also the timing is typical, people with long term issues reflect at year end & think I can't do another year of this, it'll break me etc. Choosing a partner who'd had her own life, is American so doesn't really get Royal protocol etc maybe was his sub conscious way of engineering leaving. Edward VIII famously loathed his role as King, all the protocol etc & saw Wallis as his get out, despite her trying to end it :recently found letters of hers show she tried to end it & he was threatening suicide if she did.

Inappropriatefemale · 09/01/2020 09:57

Has Meghan caused the issues between Harry and William do you think?

Is Meghan the reason Harry’s stepping down as a Senior Royal and not taking the £2 million a year anymore but will keep the £600k security money?

Has Meghan ruined Harry or is he on his way to ruin?

Mrsjayy · 09/01/2020 09:59

Harry is in danger of filling prince Andrews slot if he isn't careful entitled and tantrummy when he doesn't get his own way .

EatItWithYourHands · 09/01/2020 10:00

But if they hadn't "announced" it, it was about to be leaked by the press. Like it or not, it would've made the news either way.

FWIW I think good on them. This thread is the perfect example of them not being able to do anything right. They cant just up and go, it is a process. I'd do the same thing in their position. Good luck to them

ByeMF · 09/01/2020 10:02

Good luck to them.

AJPTaylor · 09/01/2020 10:03

I am no royalist but I don't think he asked for the fucking cake in the first place.

Helen991 · 09/01/2020 10:03

I agree, OP. I don't see how half in, half out can work.

I just started a thread which asked what would happen if and when they divorce, because this new role, or being out of the family completely, changes their status in many ways. My thread was immediately deleted by MNHQ as they said I was "not posting in good faith"? Sad

Why aren't we citizens allowed to ask what would happen to their respective statuses if they divorce?

Stroller15 · 09/01/2020 10:04

I don't usually care this much about people I don't know and who have very little to no impact on my life, but this has really annoyed me. It is so self-serving and attention grabbing. If they wanted to leave just leave don't announce it. It really sounds like they want to be free to make as much money with their charity (which doesn't pay tax) and do just what they want while keeping all the perks. Ridiculous and completely out of touch with the real world. I'll be working towards financial independence until I'm 100.

Mrsjayy · 09/01/2020 10:05

Of course it is a process but they have been harpng on about this since they had critisism about the house renovations they make their own drama as a pp said lthey are all "look at us don't look at us why are you not looking at us "

Darkhome · 09/01/2020 10:10

I think I'd want to go low contact with a family supporting an uncle with dodgy sexual behaviour too.

ItIsTheWay · 09/01/2020 10:11

Has Meghan ruined Harry or is he on his way to ruin?

Harry had the best education you can buy, I am guessing he is in the lower centile of academic ability.

Harry has worn Nazi uniform, taken street drugs, been involved in Vegas orgies, he seems to lack morals.

Harry has lectured us all repeatedly telling us with words how to live and treat the Queen, then look what he actually does how he behaves, Harry doesn't follow his own luxury beliefs. Harry wants us all to believe what Harry behaves and he has special press lined up who share his luxury beliefs.

Look at other members of the Royal family, cheating Charles, Fergie, Royal knock out, chasing William the student - NoTW sting Wessex duo, Andrew, Phillip, speedy/greedy Zarah- Harry is a chip of the old block.

Scarsthelot · 09/01/2020 10:11

Both of them have alot of personal wealth.

They need to be in or out. They dont need to warn towards being independent. They already could be.

What sort of job are are they getting that will also allow some royal engagements and allow them to continue their patronage?

I totally understand why they want out. That's not the issue. But they still want the best bits.

Devereux1 · 09/01/2020 10:13

I know someone who was involved in his education. Lower centile is being extremely generous, and that's not just academic ability.

Mrsjayy · 09/01/2020 10:14

Ah megxit has got a mentiion on this morning Grin

TheFoxAndTheMole · 09/01/2020 10:14

I don't blame them after what they've been through the past 12 months.

This. And all these threads are just perpetuating that.

They're royals. Not meat.

Wakaranaihito · 09/01/2020 10:15

I don't get the vitriol and spite heaped upon them. But then I don't read the red tops or watch morning telly. As an outsider to all the ins and outs it feels like they are bullied. They just want to be left alone - so leave them alone.

Their lives are none of our business. Hasn't Harry been through enough? Hasn't Meghan also had a pretty tough time? I did see that her Dad has sole his story and so have other members of her family.

They have a right to a family life and a private life. If this is how they manage it, good luck to them.

I doubt any poster on here would weather being a member of Royalty.

Mrsjayy · 09/01/2020 10:15

I think we can safely say prince Harry isn't the brighrest button he never was,

SproutMuncher · 09/01/2020 10:19

Nor do I think think they'll be able to make money in the private sector easily without being accused of trading off their royal connections

Well they wouldn’t be able to make any money without his royal connections. She was great in Suits but not bankable in the way she’s become since being part of the royal family, and his fame is entirely due to being royal.

I really like Meghan. I’ve loved her in suits for years and was emotional watching her walk down the aisle on her own - a black woman joining the royal family and saying fuck you to her shitty dad and walking by herself. I think a lot of the treatment by the press is appalling (although she can’t have been taken by surprise). But I do feel that this does have the hallmarks of having the cake and eating it.

I’m indifferent about Harry and always have been.
