See link. News just announced.

www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2020/01/08/prince-harry-meghan-step-back-senior-members-royal-family-couple/

It does sound like they might be escaping from the public scrutiny and online abuse.

I thought the preacher was hilarious!! There was a mumsnet thread at the time...lots of laughs.

I was talking about it whilst waiting in the queue shoping the next day and me and another lady were remembering the days we went to church and how the preacher would go on and on and how it's funny how the Windsors got the full black experience and was even short by comparison.Smile

Apparently the Queen is saying she wants their future decided in days, not weeks. That's very, very bad news for H&M.

Where's this come from? It seems to contradict the palace statement saying 'these things are complicated and will take time' that went out, what, 24 hours ago?

Josette77 · 09/01/2020 20:08

News sources are saying days and they are in crisis talks now. I think they will strip their titles.

MrsBrentford · 09/01/2020 20:09

They are deleting comments from their Instagram Grin

MrsBrentford · 09/01/2020 20:11

That (deleting comments) and wanting to cherry pick the press who will say nice things about them suggests that they are people who will not accept any criticism.

Good for her. They have behaved disgracefully. They have been pandered to, for too long. Cut off the funding, take away their titles, take away Frogmore (we paid for that for them to carry out their roles, thanks), take away their protection, and send the little narcissists on their £34m way.

They deserve to be treated exactly like that.

astralweaks · 09/01/2020 20:15

Deleting comments from Instagram? Panic stations, then.

MrsBrentford · 09/01/2020 20:17

Hmm they were negative comments too, not rude or offensive.

I think this is a huge misjudgment.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 09/01/2020 20:17

I think this would be very bad and quite sad for Harry personally if this happened.

He can't possibly afford to forget that people defer and listen to what he says not because of his earned expertise but because of what he represents and authority that conveys.

Meghan has a joint honours degree and a career.

What is Harry without a title an expert in?

malylis · 09/01/2020 20:18

I doubt titles or Frogmore will be taken away.

DuchessofWoke · 09/01/2020 20:19

I know they can have the HRH removed by the Queen. Could they lose the dukedom as well or is that unprecedented?

MrsBrentford · 09/01/2020 20:20

I think the problem with removing the Dukedom is that they could then be known as Prince and Princess Harry, even without the HRH.

malylis · 09/01/2020 20:20

They won't lose either. Harry's is his by birth, they can take away hers but I think only if they divorce.

MrsBrentford · 09/01/2020 20:20

Henry sorry (like Prince and Princess Michael of Kent)

RhythimIsRhythim · 09/01/2020 20:22

Collaborating with Disney on a film about how becoming a Princess isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and it’s better to be your own person.

Kind of like Brave and the Little Mermaid crossed with the Paperbag Princess but styled by Givenchy.

lyralalala · 09/01/2020 20:22

I don't think they'll strip titles

Harry is known worldwide as Prince Harry. That's not going to change even if he officially became 'Harry Windsor'

If they leave him as Prince Harry (with or without the HRH), but remove the Duchy then that'll make Meghan 'Princess Henry' and as soon as there is a princess title she'll be Princess Meghan in the press

lyralalala · 09/01/2020 20:24

Also if they went the whole hog and stripped Harry of his Princely title and removed him from the line of succession then a) there would be a huge drama and the royals don't like that b) there would still be the issue of Archie - he's still in the line of succession and c) they would have absolutely no leverage or control over them at all

MrsBrentford · 09/01/2020 20:28

c) they would have absolutely no leverage or control over them at all

Erm - that’s not exactly working out well for them with the titles is it..?

WineOrGinOrBoth · 09/01/2020 20:30

Also if they strip Harry & his heirs from the succession then next in line is Andrew. That would cause a furore!

lilgreen · 09/01/2020 20:33

Watching series 3 of The Crown. Very apt with Edward and Wallis featuring.

DeRigueurMortis · 09/01/2020 20:36

I don't think the succession is an issue tbh.

There's too many people now between the Crown and Andrew for Harry's loss of a claim to be an issue.

As for stripping his title. The obvious option is to remove HRH so he is no longer Prince Henry (Harry) but retain his title of Duke of Sussex.

There are many Dukes who are not HRH who earn their own income or rather inherit a shit load of money/assets and land and reap the vast rents from doing so).

scaryteacher · 09/01/2020 20:42

Can the Queen stop them taking Archie with them?

MrsBrentford · 09/01/2020 20:44

@scaryteacher

Why would she?

annualleavepurchase · 09/01/2020 20:44

Can the Queen stop them taking Archie with them?

Is that a serious question? Archie doesn't even have a royal title.

TheFuzzyStar · 09/01/2020 20:45

How could she stop them taking Archie?!
