AIBU to ask you how much coffee or tea you drink per day?

Also, if you feel you need it in the morning to properly wake up?

I drink x3 cups of coffee a day. Sometimes have a tea although not everyday.

I drink at least 10

AgeLikeWine · 08/01/2020 12:55

3 or 4. I have a large mug of very strong tea (2 Yorkshire tea bags, brewed for at least 5 minutes) first thing in the morning to wake me up, then usually a mid-afternoon coffee and a tea after dinner.

7dayslater · 08/01/2020 12:58

@AgeLikeWine

I've also been known to use 2/3 teabags in tea! My DP thinks it's weird but I like it strong. Grin

One or two cups of coffee.

6 cups of tea, or thereabouts.

Tyrozet · 08/01/2020 13:00

I have three or four cups of strong coffee in a day.

I don't need it in the morning to wake up but I do feel more alert. That might just be because I'm already up a bit earlier if I have time to make and drink a cup before I go out as opposed to rolling out of bed too late and running for the door.

namechangenumber2 · 08/01/2020 13:00

I always have a coffee in the morning ( normally a mocha). Depending on what I'm doing and where I'm going I vary between another 1-3 cups a day. I'm not a huge fan of any hot drink so it's more to be sociable!

SerenDippitty · 08/01/2020 13:02

5 cups of tea per day, one or two coffees a week.

BiddyPop · 08/01/2020 13:03

I usually have at least 1, if not 2, coffees in the morning - sometimes I make one to bring on my commute, sometimes I get it on the commute, and sometimes I get one at the end of the commute to drink in the office (that is usually only 2 combined though - very very rare for all 3 to happen the same day).

I sometimes have another midmorning.

If I drink coffee after lunch, it is usually decaf.

I will drink tea some days, and not others. It is called "milky water" in my office, but I prefer it quite weak and also with a good dollop of milk in it. But I can drink up to 3 large mugs in the office, and another 1-2 later at home, I often have a mug just before bedtime.

Deelish75 · 08/01/2020 13:07

1-2 cups of coffee in the morning
5-6 cups of tea throughout the day

MyEnormousTurnip · 08/01/2020 13:09

Three cups a day, any more and it ruins my sleep.

MyEnormousTurnip · 08/01/2020 13:09

And never after 2pm.

ClientListQueen · 08/01/2020 13:10

Don't drink coffee often
Tea - at least 6 mugs

Stumpedasatree · 08/01/2020 13:11

Coffee: 5 mugs
Tea: 3-4 mugs

WeeSleekitTimerousMoosey · 08/01/2020 13:12

I always have two cups of coffee before I leave the house of a morning.

Beyond that it varies, but at least another four, one at dinner time, one in the afternoon, one at tea time, one in the evening. At the moment I have a filthy cold so am drinking more than usual. Just had my sixth of the day.

Doesn't affect my sleep, I get a solid 8 hours nightly.

I don't drink tea.

schoolcats · 08/01/2020 13:13

Anything between 0-3 cups of tea and sometimes 1 cup of coffee.

easyandy101 · 08/01/2020 13:16

Double espresso at the station, then a single shot piccolo just near work

I don't drink any more after midday cos it makes my hands sweat and that interferes with climbing training

Not really feeling tea this year but used to drink 10-15 cups a day

If i dont drink coffee for 24 hours or so i get a savage headache so yes i guess i need it

FesteredFairy · 08/01/2020 13:16

Normally 1 mug of strong bean to cup coffee with hot milk (ratio 50:50) first thing in the morning and then water for the rest of the day.
Very occasionally I might have another mug of coffee in the evening, but not as strong.
Clearly the morning mug is psychological as the evening one does not stop me going to sleep. I like the smell and the taste.
I don't really drink tea, in fact I cannot remember the last time I had a cup of tea.

mindutopia · 08/01/2020 13:17

Probably 2-4 cups. Definitely usually 2 cups a day, sometimes 3, on a rough day 4. Sometimes one of those might be a tea though.

Talcott2007 · 08/01/2020 13:18

Don't drink coffee very often - have to really be in the mood for one - would only ever be out in an actual cafe/coffee shop where a barista makes it properly. DH makes me a nice strong cup of builders tea every morning. then generally I drink mint tea maybe 2-3 cups during the rest of the day which i find really refreshing and also doesn't lend itself to dunking a biscuit in it!

Ijustwanttoretire · 08/01/2020 13:18

Don't drink tea, about 5 cups of black coffee a day unless I nip to Costa for a cappuccino. I used to only be able to 'wake up' after a coffee but I changed to decaff and now I can get up, drive to work and have my first cuppa there - about 2 hours after I get up.

WanderingMilly · 08/01/2020 13:19

I used to do this a few years ago, I needed 3 cups of coffee as a get-up or breakfast replacement. Throughout the day I would have 12 cups of coffee. Then I realised it wasn't very healthy and I cut out coffee completely, drank very weak tea. It made an amazing difference, I seemed healthier, slept better, lost a couple of lbs in weight without trying....
These days I do have 2 coffees per day, usually if I see friends for a chat. But I don't want to go back to how I was.

Enko · 08/01/2020 13:19

I drink 1-3 cups of coffee and likely 5-6 cups of tea over a day. I do not need it to wake up and I can go a day without any of them and do at times I drink a wide variety of tea but mostly Earlgrey Peppermint or Fresh Mint tea

CSIblonde · 08/01/2020 13:20

Can't wake up quickly without 2 in quick succession. Rest of day, 4 usually. Cup of tea every other day or so. I did switch to decaf way back but didn't notice any benefits, so I'm back to my only vice.

Molly2016 · 08/01/2020 13:20

Close to 10 cups of decaf tea.
No coffee because even if I have just one in the morning it seems to affect my sleep.

SassenachWitch · 08/01/2020 13:20

I love tea and coffee, nothing better than relaxing with a brew.

I drink 2 tea (first and last thing) and 4-5 coffees (at work) in the week, weekends is more tea and less coffee, if I’m home I’ll have a brew every hour, out and about I can do without.
