AIBU to ask you how much coffee or tea you drink per day?

Also, if you feel you need it in the morning to properly wake up?

I drink x3 cups of coffee a day. Sometimes have a tea although not everyday.

I hate tea so never drink it.
I love coffee but try to limit myself to two cups a day (cafetière). Usually at about 10.30 and about 4.
I can drink a coffee after a late dinner when out and sleep fine, but if I have coffee or Coke after about 8pm at home I sometimes can’t sleep.

Elbeagle · 08/01/2020 14:22

1-2 cups of coffee a day. Can’t stand tea. Otherwise water (or wine in the evening!). DH doesn’t drink hot drinks at all.
My mum has probably 12-15 cups of decaf tea a day!

nikiti · 08/01/2020 14:24

me personally I avoid coffee ...it doesn't make me to feel good...occasionally I drink an energy drink in the middle of the day....I think 3 cups are too many...

recycledbottle · 08/01/2020 14:26

I used to drink about four coffees but am currently off coffee because it really affects my bladder and I was sick of going all the time. I have switched to tea and so far am having about 3 cups of very light tea.

Newbie1999 · 08/01/2020 14:27

None, but usually 1-3 Diet Cokes!

DontCallMeShitley · 08/01/2020 14:28

Yorkshire Gold tea bags, just one per cup though because they are very strong in a White IKEA stacking mug, one of the really cheap ones with the tiny handle at the top because they make excellent strong tea, unlike any others.

Have recently cut down and trying to keep to only 6 cups per day, sometimes a coffee if I can face the mess of the grounds, or wait until the weekend to buy a proper one (not Costa/Starbucks/Greggs crud, I have found a gem of a coffee shop).

shortytrekker · 08/01/2020 14:28

Two then decaf.

DontCallMeShitley · 08/01/2020 14:28

Ooops, random capital W there Blush

CatInTheDaytime · 08/01/2020 14:31

About 3 coffees (espresso or cappuccino) through the morning, and 1 large tea when kids are back from school. I work at home and I used to have more coffee, probably too much, until my pod machine conked out and I got a proper espresso machine, which is a faff so I don't bother as often - result :)

However I do have to have a strong coffee when i wake up, or I can't think properly and get a headache.

lovemenorca · 08/01/2020 14:31

It’s remarkable
Two weeks ago I would have...
2 caffeine coffees
1 caffeine tea
5-7 decaf coffee

Plus a few fruits teas.

And then... I had my teeth whitened and as of last two weeks....
2 caffeinated coffees
1 decaf coffee

And that’s it. I’m not missing it. So strange. Nothing like vanity to change your routine!

Bluerussian · 08/01/2020 14:31

I don't have tea or coffee every day but when I do, I enjoy it. Usually two cups sometime in the morning. Most of the time I drink water, lemon & barley and apple juice.

MrKlaw · 08/01/2020 14:33

two - both in the morning. One when I get up around 6, and a second when I've been in the office for about an hour - around 9.

After that its water and then around 3 cups of tea - last one being decaf in the evening.

If I drink coffee in the afternoon I find it makes me sleepy - not sure why.

OrangeSlice · 08/01/2020 14:35

About 2 coffees and 2 teas. Real coffee first thing (after a tea) then instant after that (azero

Katinthedoghouse · 08/01/2020 14:37

Wow... I recently had to go to the doctors because I was having uti / prolapse / issues down there which was just not shifting, despite antibiotics.

I was asked how many cups of tea or coffee I had a day to which I replied 6-8 . You would have thought I was mainlining coke the way the dr responded.

Said it was far too much and I should stop totally or cut back to just 1 as it might be irritating my bladder

So I Switched to decaff and my bladder problems seem to have resolved

Ragwort · 08/01/2020 14:38

Two large, strong coffees with breakfast, at least another one during the morning and probably one mid afternoon & one in the evening ... never drink tea. Doesn’t seem to make any difference re: sleeping.

PPopsicle · 08/01/2020 14:39

@Katinthedoghouse
Husband had similar! Was getting up in the night so often to wee. Stopped caffeine and now sleeps soundly

Inherdefence · 08/01/2020 14:40

As I’ve got older I’ve become less and less tolerant of caffeine so now I’m pretty much caffeine free. I have 3/4 large cups of decaf coffee in the mornings and 4/6 mugs of herb tea in the afternoons, normally peppermint or camomile.

dubmumof2 · 08/01/2020 14:41

6-8 coffees a day (3 if them with an extra espresso shot!)

squeekums · 08/01/2020 14:42

least 8 to 10 coffees
bout 5 teas

Straycatstrut · 08/01/2020 14:44

First thing I do when I get up at 6.30 is switch the kettle on. LOVE my first cup of tea of the day, that's the best one. Then the one when I get in from doing something knackering and finally sit down. The 5 or so inbetween is just habit and comfort drinking and caffeine addiction. I really want to switch these to bottled water, but it's not the same is it Grin

I drink about 3 coffees a week and a latte when I'm out in the city, which is about once a week currently. I love Greggs latte more than Starbucks or costa!

lovemenorca · 08/01/2020 14:44

Out of curiosity - what’s people’s motivation for drinking loads?

The caffeinated ones I drink / drank are both the pleasure of a lovely coffee and the perk up

The decaf was to fill me up plus I loved the taste

squeekums · 08/01/2020 14:44

oh and never get between me and my first 2 coffees in the morning, blood will be shed

safariboot · 08/01/2020 14:44

No coffee.

Guess about 10 cups of tea? I don't really know. A lot.

squeekums · 08/01/2020 14:45

Out of curiosity - what’s people’s motivation for drinking loads?

habit, energy kick, warmth in winter

lovemenorca · 08/01/2020 14:46

@Katinthedoghouse

Caffeine or the quantity of liquid?
