AIBU to ask you how much coffee or tea you drink per day?

Also, if you feel you need it in the morning to properly wake up?

I drink x3 cups of coffee a day. Sometimes have a tea although not everyday.

About 7 mugs of tea per day. I'll have one coffee in the morning with breakfast, but only at the weekend. Sometimes I'll swap the later brews for a peppermint tea.

MissConductUS · 08/01/2020 15:48

Two or three cups of coffee per day, tea is mostly a weekend treat for me.

I'm a bit of a coffee fanatic. I buy mine from Peet's, a posh coffee roaster in the US and brew by using the pour over method with very hot water from the kettle.

Being on MN reignited my interest in tea and my go to tea is now Barry's Gold, which I heard about here. I buy it on Amazon as it's not often in the supermarkets here.

joystir59 · 08/01/2020 15:51

3 or 4 weak decaffeinated black teas, and one caffeinated cappuccino most days, plus one decaffeinated coffee

CynthiaRothrock · 08/01/2020 15:55

Between 5 and 8 cups. Some days coffee some days tea. Some a mix of both. I also drink a lot of water. I don't need it to wake up but do feel better after my first cup, usually within the first hour of waking on a work day, straight away when I'm at home.

Inappropriatefemale · 08/01/2020 15:57

Between 10 and 15 and I can have a coffee before bed and still sleep like a baby!

I will only have instant coffee if I have coffee mate as instant and just milk is awful, I also put milk in with coffee mate.

I know you didn’t ask about how we took coffee but thought I’d just tell you anyway!Grin

YoTheGinPussyOfStMawesOnThigh · 08/01/2020 16:02

Tea first thing when I am woken up by my cats wanting breakfast.
Strong proper coffee with breakfast (helps to get my bowels going!)
Instant coffee at lunchtime sometimes if feel like it.
Tea at teatime with biscuits.
Another instant coffee after supper. Doesn’t seem to stop me sleeping

Genevieva · 08/01/2020 16:05

I make about 3 to 4 pots of tea a day when we are both at home. I think that equates to about 6-8 cups each.

BoomBoomsCousin · 08/01/2020 16:07

Cup of tea first thing, then two cups of (decaf) coffee before lunch. Probably four cups of tea or decaf coffee in the afternoon, not always. In the summer I often swap the afternoon drinks for sparkling water.

I don't need the caffeine (my coffee is decaf anyway) but the bitterness of coffee does seem to help me concentrate when I'm working and I like a drink on hand.

UnfamousPoster · 08/01/2020 16:09

I'm only on the first page of comments but am beginning to think I'm a bit odd! I only have one hot drink a day. Normally a cappuccino in a travel mug on my way to work but if I haven't had time for that, then a cup of tea when I get in to the office.

If I'm really struggling during the day, or start getting really hungry at the wrong time of day I may have another cup of tea, but otherwise I just drink water.

CatFaceCats · 08/01/2020 16:09

I always have my contigo mug full of tea.... so that’s perhaps 2 regular sized cups? Starting from 7am, all the way until about 9pm? I use it in the house to save all the half drunk, luke warms cups i used to leave in my wake!
I probably make 7-8 fresh mugs a day - but sometimes I’ll discard a half full one so o have have fresh for the school run

TeacupDrama · 08/01/2020 16:11

have 2 large mugs milky coffee with breakfast one mid morning and one after lunch, cup of tea in the afternoon depending how late dinner is might have decaff coffee about 6pm and another after dinner and a tea before bed

dorisdog · 08/01/2020 16:16

Two black coffees. One as soon as I get up. One in the afternoon. I live for them!

leiaskye · 08/01/2020 16:16

I don’t particularly like coffee, so drink tea.

Only have 3 cups though & have to space it out throughout the day. Any more or more often then I’m almost wetting my self at least every hour.

I’d love to drink more. My bladder just can’t take it.

Inappropriatefemale · 08/01/2020 16:25

My bladder can’t take it either but I still do it.

Mlou32 · 08/01/2020 16:28

About 10 teas and coffees. The thing is, caffeine does absolutely nothing to stimulate me. I remember as a student, if I had to pull an all nighter, I'd knock back pro plus with coffees however I felt absolutely nothing. As a nurse, I do nightshift from time to time and drink coffee throughout the night however again, it does nothing for me. Nor do I feel any effect when I first wake up from drinking coffee. I've tried eliminating caffeine for a while to eliminate any tolerance I've built up and go back to it however again, I feel nothing. I wish I could get the boost that people talk about with caffeine but nope, nowt!

Inappropriatefemale · 08/01/2020 16:28

Yes coffee doesn’t keep me awake either or stimulate me and I too have used pro plus and coffee but to no avail!!

Lovemusic33 · 08/01/2020 16:34

Can’t handle caffeine so I don’t touch it.

motheroftwoboys · 08/01/2020 16:41

One cup of coffee when I get to work. Nothing at home before that. Possibly an espresso when I get home and occasionally a de-caf espresso after dinner. We eat late so caffeine not an option. Never drink tea. I love coffee but need decent stuff The other half drinks vasts amounts of instant. yeuch.

Juliette20 · 08/01/2020 16:45

Usually two coffees in the morning, occasionally a cup of tea in the afternoon, sometimes a cup of decaf tea in the evening.

I love coffee but am awake all night if I drink it after midday.

myfuckingfreezer · 08/01/2020 16:46

And never after 2pm

Only takes about 4/5 hours for coffee to wear off, so this is overkill!

MLMsuperfan · 08/01/2020 16:47

Between 5 and 10.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 08/01/2020 16:49

Don't drink coffee.
2/3 cups of tea in the morning - not any other time of the day.

WhenNothingGoesRightGoLeft · 08/01/2020 16:51

2 cups of coffee a day max and then none after 4pm, then rooibosh in the evening. I went through a phase of having IBS with coffee - luckily that has gone away now, but I have no idea why!?

pollywobble · 08/01/2020 16:55

3/4 cups of decaf a day
When I had caffeine I had 6/7, it made me feel on edge, disturbed my sleep, made me feel anxious and have the urge to wee frequently.
I get a recurrence of these if I drink proper coffee now

MsRinky · 08/01/2020 16:59

Cups are meaningless aren't they, so much variation. I make 750ml of delicious coffee in my fancy filter Technivorm contraption in the morning and drink about 65% of it straight away and the rest from a smaller travel cup about an hour and a half later when I get to work.

A couple of days a week I'll have a cup of proper tea mid-afternoon if I'm flagging, otherwise after my morning cups it's fizzy (sodastream) water and herbal/mint tea for the rest of the day.
