To NEVER want to visit burgerking again

Was my birthday last week.
As a treat I said I would love a Burgerking meal. We virtually never eat fastfood. Maybe have 3-4 a year. Son has plenty be we usually wait until we're home.
But we do often go out for walks and enjoy pub grub.

Anyway, off we went... My partner told me to sit with our son and went off to order.

3 meals all with regular fries plus son wanted ice cream.
£20.73!!
By the time we had removed the packaging I was dumbstruck as to what we actually got. The burgers didn't come in the sesame baps, the regular fries was a complete joke. You could have emptied all three into a standard coffee mug!! Plus it was freezing cold inside.
Complete rip off.
The week before we had gone out for a walk and decided to eat out. 3 meals, plated with clean cutlery came to less!!

I thought convenience food was supposedly cheap!!
Bugger that, It'll be a very long time before I eat in either McD's, BurgerKing or KFC they have all become too greedy. When all is said and done the food really is junk, its crap, so why the high cost?

You need to get the Burger King App, 2 Whopper meals for £7.99, and lots more

shellysheridan · 05/01/2020 22:17

It wasn't a Burger King in the midlands was it? We had a horrendous experience a few weeks. My 3 years sat at a table with a used condom underneath

WorraLiberty · 05/01/2020 22:22

So it was just over £6 per meal then plus the price of an ice cream?

That's not really expensive is it?

If the burgers were cold you should have sent them back though.

CherryPavlova · 05/01/2020 22:22

I can’t ever imagine saying I wanted a Burger king meal. The smell at motorway services is enough to make me think a plate of raw swede might taste better.

Generallybewildered · 05/01/2020 22:25

My son wanted a bacon cheese burger the other day. We stopped at BK and I saw the price. He had to wait 2 days until we found a MDs. Not worth the price.

ButterflyRuns · 05/01/2020 22:26

I don't blame you, but mainly just because I think their food is terrible and there are plenty of other places to go to with cheap fast food.

ploppypoppy · 05/01/2020 22:28

You need the app as pp said 7.99 for two whopper or chicken royal meals. Not sure why it was cold though ours cooks to order. You should have sent them back

contentedsoul · 05/01/2020 22:29

@WorraLiberty
I agree £6 is a fair price, but it was crap, plus cold to sit.
We are not greedy, I large fish and chips plus large sausage from our local chippy feeds the three of us!
But I came way from burgerking still hungry. They have definitely reduced the portion sizes and increased prices.
Each to their own, but I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Sparklingbrook · 05/01/2020 22:32

BK is not a birthday treat. Sad

Nicknacky · 05/01/2020 22:32

No way would one large fish and chips feed three of my family and we are far from greedy.

You must have the appetite of sparrows.

And £20 is cheap for three meals, if it was cold you should have returned it.

ElefanteIntheroom · 05/01/2020 22:33

Pack some sandwiches and fruit next time.

£££'s cheaper

sparkylove · 05/01/2020 22:33

@Generallybewildered bacon cheeseburgers on the app too Wink

To NEVER want to visit burgerking again
Clevererthanyou · 05/01/2020 22:33

Agree wholeheartedly op. The price wouldn’t be so bad if the food wasn’t smaller than a Happy Meal portion ...
The Burger King in Minehead Butlins charges £4.00 for a single cheeseburger 🧐

ElefanteIntheroom · 05/01/2020 22:34

Yes BK is not a treat. Worst fries I've ever had

Herbalteahippie · 05/01/2020 22:35

I had a Burger King once, it was bloody depressing; the staff were like zombies, the place was filthy and tired. From then on, I always make own sandwiches. It’s worth it.

BasinHaircut · 05/01/2020 22:36

Burger King is awful and always has been. McDonalds is much better.

I’m struggling to work out why you thought it would be a nice treat for your birthday too! Yuk!

contentedsoul · 05/01/2020 22:37

@Nicknacky - it really does, the fish is about a foot long!! Large chips is huge, plus the large sausage is about 8" too. Sometimes we cant eat it all - lol
Same with Chinese, 1 meal with side order feeds the three of us.

The difference is these are private businesses that need your custom, the high street franchise is set out for maximum profit...hence its shite!!

OP posts:
Nicknacky · 05/01/2020 22:39

I go to private businesses for take away. The portions aren’t that huge. And I live on the coast with many fish restaurants.

contentedsoul · 05/01/2020 22:40

To all the posters saying yuk!
I agree, I used to love the Aberdeen Angus meal. But this was several years ago, probably more (10). Hence why I just felt like a treat...but it was nothing like a treat...nothing.

It was shit!

Poetryinaction · 05/01/2020 22:41

We get one large fish and chips between 5 of us (kida are 6, 4 and 1). They are enormous! We eat normally otherwise.
OP, my 6 and 4 year olds have just heard of McD's and asked to go. So I bought 3 hapoy meals. They ate the lot plus a mini McFlurry each. My burger from the saver meal was rank though. I had to order the veggie bites on top, and had a mini McFlurry with the kids.
It was all disgusting in my opinion, and not that cheap, but they likes it because they got a toy and ice cream.
I am in no rush to go back. That was the first time since having kids though. 6 years.

DracarysThis · 05/01/2020 22:41

plus the large sausage is about 8" too

I certainly wouldn't be complaining Grin

Thehop · 05/01/2020 22:42

Their veggie bean burger is amazing though, and Mac Donald’s veggie stuff is shite now.

contentedsoul · 05/01/2020 22:43

I thought it was common knowledge that coastal take away portions are pretty derisory, they have a captive audience that they know will pay whatever to sit and scoff!!

No Ta

OP posts:
PyongyangKipperbang · 05/01/2020 22:45

I think BK is massively over priced for what it is, and its crap now. Used to be ok but the price is eyewatering for what you get.

Nicknacky · 05/01/2020 22:46

No they don’t! The portions are fine. I’ve had take aways in cities and they are the same size.
