To NEVER want to visit burgerking again

contentedsoul · 05/01/2020 22:11

Was my birthday last week.
As a treat I said I would love a Burgerking meal. We virtually never eat fastfood. Maybe have 3-4 a year. Son has plenty be we usually wait until we're home.
But we do often go out for walks and enjoy pub grub.

Anyway, off we went... My partner told me to sit with our son and went off to order.

3 meals all with regular fries plus son wanted ice cream.
£20.73!!
By the time we had removed the packaging I was dumbstruck as to what we actually got. The burgers didn't come in the sesame baps, the regular fries was a complete joke. You could have emptied all three into a standard coffee mug!! Plus it was freezing cold inside.
Complete rip off.
The week before we had gone out for a walk and decided to eat out. 3 meals, plated with clean cutlery came to less!!

I thought convenience food was supposedly cheap!!
Bugger that, It'll be a very long time before I eat in either McD's, BurgerKing or KFC they have all become too greedy. When all is said and done the food really is junk, its crap, so why the high cost?

Used to have a BK near me, gone now, but always enjoyed their food. Perhaps it would be better for you to go and buy if you want to eat there again, you might be better at ordering.

littlealexhorne · 05/01/2020 23:27

I always find BK miles nicer than McD's, its McD's which I always feel find to be overpriced, cold and poor quality. The best BK's are those in foreign airports though!

Baileys4two · 05/01/2020 23:33

Nicknacky, you seem to be taking this very personally and seriously, you know people can have different opinions without getting arsey? It doesn't mean they're judging you for doing/liking something different.

bookmum08 · 05/01/2020 23:35

Mcdonalds is much better. Especially if you have the £1.99 vouchers from the Metro newspaper or the ones on the back of bus tickets. The worst Burger King I have been to is the one at Westfield Shepards Bush. Sooooo slow service.
Although I do like the different flavours of Pepsi you can get in BK.

Thegreymethod · 05/01/2020 23:35

I agree and I think £20 for 3 meals from a fast food place is expensive!! We're a family of 6 and we can go to a lovely Chinese near us and spend £20-£30 and feed us all with leftovers.... and we're greedy!
This is the reason I won't go to McDonald's or Burger King it's overpriced rubbish and you're hungry an hour later, I do like KFC though but more expensive but you actually know you've eaten.

bookmum08 · 05/01/2020 23:42

Did anyone try the kfc festive fries? I don't eat chicken so don't go to kfc usually but my daughter wanted popcorn chicken and I was peckish so had some festive fries. What on earth was the coating on them? Some very strange powder stuff. They were nice... sort of. Just weird.

sparkylove · 05/01/2020 23:42

The Aldi frozen vegan pizzas are really nice too, I've only tried the BBQ jackfruit one and it was good. I am a vegetarian though so might not be as good to a meat eater

CactusAndCacti · 05/01/2020 23:46

KFC has now opened at Wetherby services, a much better option to BK (the chips withstanding)

Smelborp · 05/01/2020 23:57

I just don’t get five guys. Went once and it was like the worst fast food underwhelming burger ever. Others rave about it though.

Our fish and chip shop sells a large portion big enough for three with large appetites. Glad I found them, others aren’t so generous.

PyongyangKipperbang · 06/01/2020 02:08

If we are talking chippy portions our local does loads. I down graded from a large when DD2 moved out as a medium is more than enough for 2 DD's and a perma-hungry teen DS!

Even when fat greedy cunt exDH was here, and 2 more DD's, a large was enough for all six of them.

PyongyangKipperbang · 06/01/2020 02:09

Oh and he does battered mushrooms which are LOVELY!

Aridane · 06/01/2020 03:07

Oh bloody hell / three of you can’t finish a sausage? And a (large) piece of fish?

SlightlyStaleCocoPops · 06/01/2020 05:04

I'm starting to think the MN fish from the chippy is the new MN chicken; can feed a family of four for a month. Are these places serving up sperm whales or something?

(I must have really low standards because I love a Burger King 🤷‍♀️)

PawPawNoodle · 06/01/2020 05:10

I properly don't understand this! I am a fat greedy cow and a regular meal from BK stuffs me so I'm not sure how you left hungry OP. On the other hand however, I have a main and a side to myself from the Chinese so I'm not sure how that's feeding the three of you.

thefishthatcouldwish · 06/01/2020 05:40

Burger King is horrible in my opinion.

I’ve been known to frequent McDonald’s which is nicer if I’m honest.

FredaFrogspawn · 06/01/2020 05:53

Indian food in the uk is tailored for our ‘taste’, so lots of added sugar. It is often not so good and often bears little resemblance to the food that a Bangladeshi family might eat at home. (Which is much healthier).

Sorry your birthday meal was spoilt - why not have a second birthday meal at home with your favourite Aldi pizza? You can be like the queen, celebrating her birthday on two separate occasions.

Rubyupbeat · 06/01/2020 06:22

All that crap is poison, anyway. Just dont put any of it into your body.

amatsip · 06/01/2020 07:02

I hope the Indian food doesn't taste the same as a bangladeshi family cooks as India and Bangladesh are 2 different countries.

amatsip · 06/01/2020 07:02

Bold fail

happycamper11 · 06/01/2020 07:07

That's actually not bad - we were in a rush at the airport and I was also a bit skint so thought Burger King was our best option. I grabbed 2 kids meals and just a plain cheese burger for myself - no fries or drink, just the kids meal size burger and it came to £21. I was horrified

PandaCat · 06/01/2020 07:15

I prefer Burger King to McDonald's, they've always been pricey compared to McDonald's though. I actually love their fries too, but I would never have it as a birthday treat!

You could have sent it back and complained about it being cold.

PandaCat · 06/01/2020 07:17

I forgot to add, McDonald's leaves me feeling empty but a Chicken royale with cheese from Burger King fills me for the day.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 06/01/2020 07:18

YABU to piously try and justify why you wanted burger king as yor opener. It's ok to eat it, it's fast food, not crystal meth.

YABU to claim it was "freezing" cold

YABU to gripe at the cost when there are always deals and offers on (Whopper Wednesday is ace)

YABU to then bore on about the nutritional worth of it.

So in essence, YABU.

But now I fancy a Whopper...

happycamper11 · 06/01/2020 07:24

Also LOL at the idea of one fish supper feeding 6 including 2 adults and teenagers. Myself and 2 dc 10 and under get a large (and it's massive) then something extra like a fried pizza or a chicken or maybe just an extra portion of chips depending what we fancy. Definitely needs to take its place alongside the mumsnet chicken 😆
