To NEVER want to visit burgerking again

contentedsoul · 05/01/2020 22:11

Was my birthday last week.
As a treat I said I would love a Burgerking meal. We virtually never eat fastfood. Maybe have 3-4 a year. Son has plenty be we usually wait until we're home.
But we do often go out for walks and enjoy pub grub.

Anyway, off we went... My partner told me to sit with our son and went off to order.

3 meals all with regular fries plus son wanted ice cream.
£20.73!!
By the time we had removed the packaging I was dumbstruck as to what we actually got. The burgers didn't come in the sesame baps, the regular fries was a complete joke. You could have emptied all three into a standard coffee mug!! Plus it was freezing cold inside.
Complete rip off.
The week before we had gone out for a walk and decided to eat out. 3 meals, plated with clean cutlery came to less!!

I thought convenience food was supposedly cheap!!
Bugger that, It'll be a very long time before I eat in either McD's, BurgerKing or KFC they have all become too greedy. When all is said and done the food really is junk, its crap, so why the high cost?

kateandme · 06/01/2020 07:28

happycamper11 · 06/01/2020 07:33

Mumsnet solves world hunger! 😆

Ijustwanttoretire · 06/01/2020 07:57

If you want a treat but fast food - go to Five Guys. Pricey but OMG soooooooooo good!

Sparklingbrook · 06/01/2020 08:02

Five Guys food is so good in comparison to Maccies/BK etc BUT you will need to remortgage your house before going in. Bottomless drinks though.

happycamper11 · 06/01/2020 08:06

Also YWBU to have written burgerking. Every time I scroll past the title I think what/where is Bur- gerking. Then realise 'ah yeh Burger King'

FoamingAtTheUterus · 06/01/2020 08:11

I get you op,sometimes we just get a craving. An itch we need to scratch........so I can see why you fancied it for your birthday..........BK is shit tho.

Well the chilli cheese bites are decent, I've been known to order a few sacks if those. Blush

ShirleyPhallus · 06/01/2020 08:13

I'm starting to think the MN fish from the chippy is the new MN chicken; can feed a family of four for a month. Are these places serving up sperm whales or something?

I was just thinking this. One fish and chips between SIX?! Oh come on!

MyAuntyBadger · 06/01/2020 08:16

YANBU, I went to a BK in Serpentine Green, Peterborough, just before Christmas. It was awful, all of the food was cold, the burgers were like cardboard and once we'd sat down we realised how dirty everywhere was. Never again, I'll look for the nearest McD next time. I agree about Indian takeaways as well, I left one on the side overnight once and the next morning there was an inch of congealed fat on the top.

RhymingRabbit3 · 06/01/2020 08:16

Burger King has always been crap and over priced. I like KFC and with the app you can usually get a decent amount for your money. However I wouldnt consider it a birthday treat for an adult.

Mlou32 · 06/01/2020 08:57

@amatsip

"I hope the Indian food doesn't taste the same as a bangladeshi family cooks as India and Bangladesh are 2 different countries."

Well yes, many dishes do taste very similar/have very similar cooking methods. And yes, they are two different countries, I'm sure she is more than aware of that. However the cuisine is similar. There are differences of course, however there are differences between North Indian cuisine and South Indian cuisine. The UK and Ireland are two different countries. Their cuisine is pretty much the same. New Zealand and Australia are two separate counties, their cuisines are pretty similar (if not the same give or take a few specialist dishes).

I hate when people try and be all smarmy in an attempt to show someone up. Especially when the person they are trying to show up actually hasn't said anything wrong.

similarminimer · 06/01/2020 08:59

@amatsip I suspect the poster knows that they are 2 separate countries and also that 80% of 'Indian' restaurants in the UK are Bengali

Bengal is in India though so not sure what your point is 🧐

C130 · 06/01/2020 09:40

I stopped eating bk years ago, when they thought it was a good idea to change their fries, for those hollow crusty fries. Horrible. I always thought it was expensive.

nowaypose · 06/01/2020 09:48

I haven’t been for years, it’s always been shit.

keepingbees · 06/01/2020 09:50

What do you mean by the burgers didn't come in the baps?
I haven't been to a BK for years as they were always expensive and the restaurant always empty and cold. Portions used to be decent though.

KFC have gone downhill too. Smaller portions, tasteless batter and the chips are now horrible skin-on things like little wedges.

Spied · 06/01/2020 09:55

All the Burger Kings I have been into are filthy rotten. Every.One.
I'm not a fan of any personally but choose McDonald's of KFC for the DC.

SouthernComforts · 06/01/2020 11:56

One fish and chips between 6! Sounds shite.

Dita73 · 06/01/2020 12:33

Can anyone else hear Woody Allen?
“The food here is really terrible”
“Yeah I know and such small portions!”

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 06/01/2020 12:45

I feel sad the treat you wanted on your birthday was Burger King, just seems tragic from an adult 😂😂

I mean burger kind has wowed anyone over 3 years old in a long time.

Asda is better than your rubbish Indian take away. Many decent ones exists and your Asda ready meal would be rubbish in comparison

SlightlyStaleCocoPops · 06/01/2020 12:49

"I feel sad the treat you wanted on your birthday was Burger King, just seems tragic from an adult 😂😂"

And I feel embarrassed for you that you feel the need to laugh at someone for what they eat.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 06/01/2020 12:50

And I feel embarrassed for you that you feel the need to laugh at someone for what they eat.

Me too. Cringing at how snobby someone is openly prepared to be.

Doubleraspberry · 06/01/2020 13:08

I am a huge foodie and for my last big birthday (with an 0) chose to have dinner at my favourite fish and chip place. People like what they like. They also have budgets.

Effiedg · 06/01/2020 13:10

Burger King at airports are vile. We always avoid them.

Blacksackunderthetreesfreeze · 06/01/2020 13:17

I don’t really like MD, MK type places. I don’t enjoy the food much, it’s expensive for what it is and you don’t get much. Plus you’re hungry again soon.

However when I’ve had a few drinks it’s a wholly different matter and I then love the chicken strips from BK!
