Indulge me... DH and I have enjoyed ourselves today thinking of random words that could be names Grin A bit like when Uncle Fester said Dementia was a beautiful name. DH thinks Nausea could be lovely.

My Mum nearly called me Flora like the margarine.

Tbf The name Flora predates fake butters by centuries (Flora MacDonald...). It's fine so long as it's not used in conjunction with a middle name Marge, imo.

ScrambledSmegs · 05/01/2020 00:29

Germoline could be quite lovely.

And yes to place names. Corby's brother could be Kettering.

Aroundnabout1 · 05/01/2020 00:44

Tyrozet Taylor-Smithson...he just graduated from RADA and comes from an aristocratic family.

WaddesdonWanderer · 05/01/2020 00:49

There’s a bloke in this area with the surname Dick and the first name Everard. Google him if you don’t believe me. There’s also a myth that he has a sister called Ophelia but that is apparently made up.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 05/01/2020 00:51

Bonjela and her brother Ralgex

BintKeziah · 05/01/2020 00:59

I've heard of a few Melena/Melaenas (& met 1 irl). Until I trained to be a nurse, I was u aware that it means dark black, bloody 'stool' aka bloody poo. Its also a Greek name tho.

BintKeziah · 05/01/2020 01:04

I've also know an Isis (as in the Egyptian Goddess). Named way before ISIS/ISIL/Daesh. She now goes by her middle name. She commented once that she hasn't had much luck with her name since the International Space station and the infant sleep info service were also brought up from time to time re her name before the infamous one... Which is sad since she was named after her departed paternal grandmother who she adored.

Google and Starbucks are lovely sibling names.

Frisky and Flirty are lovely names for twins.

SummerWhisper · 05/01/2020 01:08

I also love Communist (Commie) and Marxist (Marxi)

I went to school with a girl whose brother was called D'Artagnan.

And was very disgruntled at my mother for giving me, my brothers and sisters, names from Homer (of the Iliad and Odyssey, not Simpson). Knowing the pain of growing up with an embarrassing name, I named my daughter Vincent.

Breathmiller · 05/01/2020 01:22

Are there any vegetables that are names?

Courgette could be a French girl's name.

Celeriac for a boy and Celery for a girl.

And fruit...Pomegranate for a girl.

Breathmiller · 05/01/2020 01:25

Someone mentioned Margarine as an Australian name.

Nectarine
Magazine
And my Australian husband's favourite - Urine

All said with a fabulous nasal Autralian twang

BintKeziah · 05/01/2020 01:27

@joystir59

"Toris, the short version of Clitoris, and Pen for a boy, the shortened version of Penis."

I wonder what Pen of "Pen and Teller" is short for... Grin.. If anything... 😂

user1473878824 · 05/01/2020 01:38

Hyperbole. I have always thought hyperbole sounds like the name someone who already named a daughter Artemis would pick. (I want to be these people but also realise you can only really call a dog Artemis, without becoming The Ultimate Wanker.)

Beketaten · 05/01/2020 01:47

Gethsemane
Persephone
Calypso

I always thought that a Ferrari Cunnilingus and a Lamborghini Fellatio would be excellent names for models of cars.

MaryTeenOfScots · 05/01/2020 02:11

I called one of my Sims 'Loreal' and I still quite like it...
For those blessed with quadruplets: Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine and Thymine.
Rogan Josh could be a good boy's name for those who like Indian takeaways.

TommyShelby · 05/01/2020 02:26

@MaryTeenOfScots

My friends mother was a teacher and had two boys in one of her classes who were best friends. Joshua and Rogan. No joke!

Echinacea and Asinine could make lovely girls names 😂

pollywobble · 05/01/2020 02:33

cantfindname · 05/01/2020 02:35

On a slightly different tack I walked into the pharmacy early last week and asked if 'Awful Maureen' was in for collection. After several blank looks from the staff they realised I meant Oral Morphine!

But, Morphia would be a good girl's name.

Cwenthryth · 05/01/2020 02:56

Ferrari Cunnilingus sounds like a Bond girl.

Aroundnabout1 · 05/01/2020 04:46

Feral (unisex).
