Indulge me... DH and I have enjoyed ourselves today thinking of random words that could be names Grin A bit like when Uncle Fester said Dementia was a beautiful name. DH thinks Nausea could be lovely.

Cystitis and Melanoma anyone?

Tinkobell · 04/01/2020 22:09

Sisters Hernia and Sciatica

Cremebrule · 04/01/2020 22:09

I’m surprised there haven’t been more botanical ones (although skilled quite a few). There’s so much untapped potential for future trend setters.

Wisteria
Leylandi
Syringa
Magnolia

Malus for a boy

Sagradafamiliar · 04/01/2020 22:10

Ambidextrous is nice, on one hand it's quite regal sounding and on the other hand, it could be shortened to Dexter.

Tinkobell · 04/01/2020 22:11

Focaccia and Ciabbata

SunshineDays2019 · 04/01/2020 22:16

I think Alien is a nice sounding name, or Aviva.

Holidayaddict · 04/01/2020 22:29

Labia is rather pretty I always thought

I had dealings with someone through work called Rabia who we sometimes privately referred to as Labia as she was actually a bit of a cunt.

MumW · 04/01/2020 22:46

Prozac is a nice uplifting name for a boy.
I've always seen it as a girl's name. I'm sure there must be a song that goes "I'm a Prozac girl in a Prozac World" Grin

Lillybobtail · 04/01/2020 22:46

Mangleworzle
Canadensis
Argentatus
Carbo
Laminitis
Rheumatoid
Myasthenia

Met a child called Titus, pronounced Tit-os

RustyBear · 04/01/2020 22:51

@Cremebrule your saying Wisteria reminded me of the Lillycrop family in Monica Edwards' Romney Marsh books, who were called
Minerva
Ur
Wisteria
Gypsophila
Hydrangea
Jupiter
Ariadne
Cleopatra
And the twins Samson & Delilah

I always wondered if they were based on a family she knew, as lots of her characters were.

Diorama and Cinema

Velocity and Veracity

Gabardine

Wereonabearhunt · 04/01/2020 22:56

Raddox and L'oriel would make great siblings

Also think Anthrax and Cyanide would be nice

Queenoftheashes · 04/01/2020 23:16

I used to like Chechnya

Tinkerbell456 · 04/01/2020 23:20

I think ( apologies if this has already come up) Nausea actually was an Ancient Greek name! Obviously didn’t mean the same to the ancient Greeks as it does now!

Spitchwick · 04/01/2020 23:25

@Cremebrule

Yesss! I love that as a name. Real pretty 🙂

MerryMarigold · 04/01/2020 23:30

This reminds me of the Borrowers. Pod, Homily and Arrietty. Plus Uncle Hendreary and Eggletina.

A pp mentioned Radox for a boy. Tampax could be his sister.

I'm surprised there aren't more Cortinas around as it's a very pretty name.

Angst and Anxiatee could be siblings.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 04/01/2020 23:31

Twins, Taramasalata and Hummus

Tinkerbell456 · 04/01/2020 23:37

This thread is hilarious, best one I have read in ages.

My Mum nearly called me Flora like the margarine.

7dayslater · 05/01/2020 00:03

Tetley (boy) Lavazza (girl)

ErrolTheDragon · 05/01/2020 00:05

Quite a few place names are in use for people, particularly Americans (Chelsea, Preston etc) but I'm sure there's loads more ready and waiting on signposts. E.g. Corby would be nice for a girl.
