Apologies if you do it but I cannot stand the "guess who has been to our house" posts. Is it just me that gets irritated by them? I am pregnant so may be my hormones but I have seen 5 on fb already and it's Christmas Eve, not Christmas Day! Also, I find them quite braggy and think people only do it just to show off how much they have spoilt their children. I hope I don't turn into one of them 😂🙈

I hate them too. Also agree with the poster who said it is all part of portraying the ‘perfect family’ image. I have a family member who is constantly at it. I feel like these days some people focus too much on taking photographs and posting about ‘making memories’ rather than just enjoying the moment!

danadas · 24/12/2019 23:20

God no, I love it all.

The pictures, the presents, the dinners. Genuinely never viewed any post as braggy but I could not be arsed analysing a post to that level. Click like and move on or just swerve Social Media for a bit.

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 24/12/2019 23:20

I did it for my kids first Christmas but quickly realised that no one gives a fuck and haven't done it since.

Because really... no one gives a fuck do they?!

JaceLancs · 24/12/2019 23:22

Santa came to my house weeks ago!
Once tree is up I wrap as I buy and put under tree
No photos on social media though

BlackCatSleeping · 24/12/2019 23:23

I don't do it, but I love seeing them!

I think a lot of parents put so much into Christmas, so a nice photo of all the presents under the tree shows they are done and can just enjoy watching the kids opening them in the morning.

BumbleBeee69 · 24/12/2019 23:24

Thankfully... I've never signed up for Facebook.. Xmas Grin

Wait, what?

Fluffiest · 24/12/2019 23:27

I actually quite like them, it just makes me happy for my friends kids who are going to be all happy and excited in the morning.

But I wouldn't put a photo like that up myself because I don't want to brag or look like I'm bragging about what we can afford and i would never want to make someone else feel inferior if their pile didn't measure up.

So, I don't mind them myself but can seek that it is a bit thoughtless to share on SM.

Meirou90 · 24/12/2019 23:27

I’ve just this second been moaning about this. 🤣

adviceneededon · 24/12/2019 23:28

My Facebook is full of them. I don't post over Xmas and then I put the full Christmas album on. I never actually manage to get a "pile" photo as chaos descends as soon as they get downstairs.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 24/12/2019 23:30

I love to see them, I never thought of it as bragging as it doesn't come across that way to me, just excited parents on Christmas eve! I love all the christmassy posts though.

Oysterbabe · 24/12/2019 23:30

It's not something I do but I see a few pop up and I don't mind them. I think people are just excited, but maybe that's just because I like my friends and they aren't dicks.

PurpleFlower1983 · 24/12/2019 23:31

I love seeing happy families, makes a change from all the misery in the world.

WelcomeToShootingStars · 24/12/2019 23:33

But you don't know how much they've spent, it could be piles of wrapped up poundland toys.

I don't like it as its a bit of a nothing, and I prefer to see pictures of people opening the presents, but I don't think it's the worst thing ever.

The twee matching pj posts do my tits in though. It's way too try hard for my taste.

Genzeee · 24/12/2019 23:33

I don’t have Facebook but honestly, why does it bother you? Seriously. They’re happy and excited, let them be

AvaGrace412 · 24/12/2019 23:33

It doesn't bother me particularly however I would never post similar on my FB as I have a couple of FB friends who don't have very good financial circumstances and who use food banks etc.

changedtempforprivacy · 24/12/2019 23:35

I love seeing these - all our cute little friends in matching pyjamas leaving carrots out for Rudolf..it's so cute. I also love seeing my friends getting creative with elf pranks too...it's sweet - not bragging..these children are getting Lego not diamonds...

Lxx16 · 24/12/2019 23:37

Loads of mixed opinions about this then! Now, if they posted tomorrow of their DC opening the presents or their faces afterwards I wouldn't be bothered by that at all (also don't go on social media tomorrow until late evening). Maybe it's the fact that the first one I saw was at half 6 this evening and Santa would have been absolutely miles away! Suppose I see it as taking away the magic and mystery of Santa actually delivering those presents!
Each to their own with it!

Btw, Merry Christmas everyone! X

He has been to my daughter she is in New Zealand and he has been in Australia to my cousins.

I don't do Facebook but glad my DH has started. My cousin had to flee her house a couple of days ago and doesn't know if she has one to go back too so think on. There are lots of people worse off.

PrtScn · 25/12/2019 00:01

There are some miserable cynical people on this thread. I see these posts on my FB, and it never once crossed my mind the thought that they could be bragging.
I’ve posted a jokey one myself because I have the tiniest tree - it’s really just a little ornament sized one on the coffee table.

naughtynelliesnunnie · 25/12/2019 00:05

Really? How to suck the joy out of life Crown Hmm

God what rubbish - I posted pics of pressies round the tree - I'm a single parent who has anything but the perfect family - just was a bit over excited and working full time was a bit of 'taaa daaa'

MsChnandlerBong · 25/12/2019 00:05

If it helps, the cunt's been but he hasnt wrapped the 3 foot Kevin the bastards carrot and the child is seven fucking teen.

MsChnandlerBong · 25/12/2019 00:08

I'll try to translate that into less pissed northern. Kevin the carrot (from Aldi, the big 3 foot one) has been purchased. I can't be fucked wrapping it and I won't because the recipient is almost 17 and old enough to appreciate the effort involved in wrapping that expensive orange prick.

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 25/12/2019 00:08

I cannot stand FB posts of presents until the tree.

I have deleted people for seeing that.

Its just ignorant .
