To knock on the door and demand my package

I sold my house back in Feb.

Ordered much lusted after coat online yesterday - imagine my panic when I realised that I hadn’t updated by address. Anyway, new coat has been delivered to and signed for at old address according to Hermes tracker.

ABIU to knock on the door and ask for my package?

For context, buyers proved to be very unreasonable & difficult people during sale.

Can’t believe I would be so stupid.

Yes go and ask for it. Hopefully they’ll be honest and hand it over.

I’m Concerned they took it in though. If a parcel turned up to me with my address on bit a different
Name id probably refuse the parcel.

Toomuchtrouble4me · 24/12/2019 18:57

You don’t really have an option - whether they have to give it to you, I’m not sure.

bellalou1234 · 24/12/2019 18:59

Aaah I have now done this twice. First time reluctantly give me my parcel, second time I sent a text saying how sorry I was, it was ignored. I called twice, started to panic and finally got an answer when my dd went. I feel your panic.

"Demand" your package - when you're the one who's madea mistake. Take your entitlement down a notch, please

UnexpectedCoatInThePost · 24/12/2019 19:01

I can confirm the coat is lovely.

Junior ordered a hoodie on the Internet .. in her excitement she put next doors dress on. I mailed the company and they said they would change the address to ours.
Fast Forward a couple of weeks, and no hoodie had arrived. I popped next door to enquire if it had been accidentally delivered there (just to mention, Juniors name was on the parcel). Male neighbour answered, and looked a bit sheepish and said he didn’t know if the hoodie had been delivered. We headed home and about 10 minutes later knocked on the door, hoodie in hand, saying his girlfriend had opened it, and given it to him to wear 😂
I was caught between CF and “thanks for giving it back”.

Wow, what a bunch of unfunny bitches most of you on this thread are.

I was on your side at first but now I hope they take a big dump in your coat before giving it back

UnexpectedCoatInThePost · 24/12/2019 19:17

I think it really suits me.

To knock on the door and demand my package
GaaaaarlicBread · 24/12/2019 19:24

I hope you get the coat back , I did this once and luckily the owners actually posted it to me . If you demand nicely they may be kind to you ....

StellaRockafella · 24/12/2019 19:30

Of course you can OP. Same thing happened to my sister and an Net-a-Porter order. New owners of the house handed it over no problem.

Good luck, am sure all will be ok Smile

SecretMillionaire · 24/12/2019 19:50

We have received a few items for the people we recently bought our house from. They have a business locally so I ring and let them know we have something and drop it in as I’m passing or they come to get it.

Explain the error and be pleasant. As the phrase goes you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

If they displayed any sort of aggression towards me I would refuse all parcels or return them to sender.

Justontherightsideofnormal · 24/12/2019 20:14

@OneForMeToo
Did you get the coat back?

Feliznavidad19 · 24/12/2019 20:49

The biggest unfunny bitch of the thread clearly goes to you OP

Jack80 · 24/12/2019 20:59

I hope you got your coat

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 24/12/2019 22:33

DH did this with my birthday present the year we moved house. The new owners denied having signed for it. Cunts.

flyingspaghettimonster · 25/12/2019 00:29

I accidentally mixed two numbers up on my new address house number, think 1234 instead of 2134. It ended up being delivered to a totally different street across the city as there wasn't that number on our street. I went there and it was a very dodgy neighbourhood. Knocked a few times then put a note through requesting they please call or text us a convenient time to collect it as it was my daughter's birthday gift. No respinse of course. Luckily the company kindly sent me a new order to my actual address

LizB62A · 25/12/2019 00:45

They've done nothing wrong so far - you're the one who has made the mistake, so maybe try being polite....

Mumtotwo82 · 25/12/2019 01:06

@unexpectedcoatinthepost
I ordered some shoes like that and they never turned up either! Grin

di2004 · 25/12/2019 01:19

Lulu49 · 25/12/2019 13:37

Yes I imagine herpes would be awful 🤣🤣

Grumpelstilskin · 25/12/2019 17:08

Hope you never got the coat with your shitty attitude.

Rachelfromfriends1 · 25/12/2019 17:20

Just ask them for the coat, and if they refuse, speak to the retailer.

Say something like you checked at the address and the parcel wasn’t there/someone forged the signature as the household denies all knowledge. This won’t mean that you will get your money back as it’s your address error.

What this may do is start a courier investigation where the actual courier who delivered it will go back to the address and state they delivered it and handed it to John etc so someone there is lying. So they might feel more compelled to hand it over to the courier. Also complaints against their address may mean that the courier changes their delivery options (eg not leaving in safe place, household signature only or no delivery) to even stopping delivering to them.
