To knock on the door and demand my package

I sold my house back in Feb.

Ordered much lusted after coat online yesterday - imagine my panic when I realised that I hadn’t updated by address. Anyway, new coat has been delivered to and signed for at old address according to Hermes tracker.

ABIU to knock on the door and ask for my package?

For context, buyers proved to be very unreasonable & difficult people during sale.

Can’t believe I would be so stupid.

Any update op? Hope you got your coat! @The2Ateam

Mummyoflittledragon · 23/12/2019 20:36

Have you been yet?

Choice4567 · 23/12/2019 20:37

@ilovesooty you just made my spit beer out laughing

userabcname · 23/12/2019 20:38

Just have to hope they aren't like 90% of people on mn who don't answer their door....

Sparklesocks · 23/12/2019 20:39

Agree with others that ‘demanding’ is the wrong approach. You ballsed up the delivery unfortunately so you should go round and ask politely and calmly.

Just knock on the door with a box of Roses and a smile.

Shoxfordian · 23/12/2019 20:44

Ask them like a normal person
No need for demands

Cherrysoup · 23/12/2019 20:45

Tell them you’ve seen their name signed for it and ask for it back. If they deny all knowledge, tell them you have the proof from the company, who can send you a screenshot of the name signed. I had to ask for the picture of the signature when a package I ordered went missing.

christma5 · 23/12/2019 20:52

I had to do this. It was very awkward but ultimately I was glad to get my order.

DianaT1969 · 23/12/2019 21:03

If they are MN users, they are unlikely to answer the door.

Boots20 · 23/12/2019 21:03

Dont knock OP just run up the path and boot the door of its hinges while 'demanding' YOUR NEW FUCKING COAT dont even wait for them to try and explain just start ransacking the joint until you get it fucking back. Take no prisoners.

PurpleFlower1983 · 23/12/2019 21:06

Calm down it’s Christmas.

SleighOfSparkliness · 23/12/2019 21:07

Good luck OP. You sound quite stressed about it! I think I would be too.

cdtaylornats · 23/12/2019 21:15

Remember it was a Hermes delivery so they might not have it either

heartonastring · 23/12/2019 21:24

This escalated quick.
Having B.B. in a similar position, I can understand your anxiety op. I hope you get your coat.

Cotswoldmama · 23/12/2019 21:27

I did this once I emailed immediately but for some reason they couldn't change where it was being delivered to! So they sent me my order again to my new address. Then the person who lived in my old flat found me via Facebook to give me my delivery! I ended up with two orders! To be honest it was all my fault so I was shocked by the excellent customer service!

Ariela · 23/12/2019 21:29

I'd go round with a bottle of wine in my hand and ask for the package. The coat probably isn't the right size for them, so a bottle of wine might be more desirable. Of course you do not have to give them the wine, you can decide depending on their reaction.

Herpes deliveries give you more than you bargained for.

Darn it, you beat me by about a minute! Grin

PullingMySocksUp · 23/12/2019 21:38

Can you not share a pic of the coat? Grin

Lulufluff · 23/12/2019 21:38

Previous owner of my house did this yesterday we received a massive package from a clothing brand for her - was happy she turned up to collect it rather than me trying to locate her/and or send it back :)

Typical answer from someone not getting the responses they want 🙄

Luckingfovely · 23/12/2019 21:49

AIBU to knock on the door and demand my package?

Yes, you are, you idiot. What in God's name did you expect Mumsnet to tell you to do?

Just knock on the door and ask politely for it like any, you know, grown up adult capable of managing the most basic human interactions without having a huge dramatic hissy fit about it?

*ponders which of the Christmas threads about the ghastly family member ruining everything is about the OP Grin

DianaT1969 · 23/12/2019 21:51

I'm looking for another thread entitled 'Someone knocking at my door at 9.30pm. WTF? Calling the police'

Loved the PP who said do remember that it was Hermes delivery, so they might not have it 😂
