To knock on the door and demand my package

I sold my house back in Feb.

Ordered much lusted after coat online yesterday - imagine my panic when I realised that I hadn’t updated by address. Anyway, new coat has been delivered to and signed for at old address according to Hermes tracker.

ABIU to knock on the door and ask for my package?

For context, buyers proved to be very unreasonable & difficult people during sale.

Can’t believe I would be so stupid.

YABU. Ex owner of my house managed to send something obviously electronic and expensive to my address a couple months ago. I spent 2 hours on the phone trying to clear up the mess, eventually got arranged for the sender to pick it up.

Previous owner turned up the next day and asked for it - not a chance, they could either claim I’d never handed it over or claim they still lived there and sent me bills.

Alyic · 23/12/2019 22:04

This happened to me, previous person who lived here had amazon delivery come to my home, I just texted her and she drove the 30 odd miles to collect it.

Crafting1Queen · 23/12/2019 22:16

@Boots20 (apt user name btw)

Dont knock OP just run up the path and boot the door of its hinges while 'demanding' YOUR NEW FUCKING COAT dont even wait for them to try and explain just start ransacking the joint until you get it fucking back. Take no prisoners.

Hahahahaha, just choked on my festive mince pie. Brilliant. Though I think Op has (booted and) flounced Grin

IndianaMoleWoman · 23/12/2019 22:30

This has happened to me both as the person making the error and the new homeowner. It’s really not a big deal.

I also know someone who accidentally sent a SOFA to their old address, and the new owners accepted it! Turned out they were renting and thought the landlord had sent it as they were actually waiting for a sofa in a bizarre coincidence, they thought they were being scammed when someone turned up claiming it wasn’t their sofa.

Wow, what a bunch of unfunny bitches most of you on this thread are.

FamilyOfAliens · 23/12/2019 22:51

While you, OP, are simply lovely, kind and hilarious, amirite?

mistermagpie · 23/12/2019 22:54

This happened to me only it was my wedding album rather than a coat (yes I am that stupid). I just went round, explained and asked nicely for the parcel back. You know, like a normal person...

Daisydoola · 23/12/2019 22:56

Go get it OP. It's Christmas, they'll be ok.

Oysterbabe · 23/12/2019 22:57

Why so angry OP? It's Christmas.

itgetshardereveryday · 23/12/2019 22:59

I'd go round with a bottle of wine in my hand and ask for the package. The coat probably isn't the right size for them, so a bottle of wine might be more desirable. Of course you do not have to give them the wine, you can decide depending on their reaction.

The bottle could double up as a weapon incase it comes to blows

Dongdingdong · 23/12/2019 23:01

Why take a bottle of wine? They’ve taken in a package, that’s all. Offering a bottle of wine seems a bit OTT IMO.

Hope you get it back OP.

Are you new here? Why did you even bother posting? How did you envisage this panning out?

TheFaerieQueene · 23/12/2019 23:05

Hands up who has a free coat? 🤣

Sparkle567 · 23/12/2019 23:05

With your attitude in this thread no wonder the people in your old house dont like you 🤣

CustomerCervixDepartment · 23/12/2019 23:06

Oh you sound lovely OP, I bet it was the buyers who were the awful ones 😁 how do you expect calling people ‘unfunny bitches’ will swing your post in your favour? Fuck your coat 🎉✌️

MsJaneAusten · 23/12/2019 23:08

Wow, what a bunch of unfunny bitches most of you on this thread are

Yes, but did you get your coat? And did you ask or DEMAND?

Ginger1982 · 23/12/2019 23:08

"Wow, what a bunch of unfunny bitches most of you on this thread are."

😂😂😂

Sparkle567 · 23/12/2019 23:09

I’d bin your coat Instead of giving it to you

TheClausSeason · 23/12/2019 23:15

OP: Can I demand my coat back?

MN: You sound quite agressive.

OP: FFS Mumsnet! You are unfunny bitches.

Xmas Grin Merry Christmas to you too, OP. Good luck with your coat.

SnowWhitesRestingBitchFace · 23/12/2019 23:17

I'm only here to tell @ilovesooty that her comment wins the thread for me 😂

doodoodoodoodoolittlelulu · 23/12/2019 23:18

Just a quick lesson OP: a poor attitude towards others will get you nowhere in life. HTH Grin

lisag1969 · 23/12/2019 23:22

Why would you not knock. If you have their number message and say you are coming. X

Sparklesocks · 23/12/2019 23:25

OP that’s a terrible thing to say! What an insult. It’s one thing calling people a bitch but unfunny?? Too far!!

tillytrotter1 · 23/12/2019 23:33

Actually it's a very nice coat, my MIL will be thrilled with it.

arethereanyleftatall · 23/12/2019 23:37

Op, do you find that lots of people you meet are 'unreasonable and difficult'? I would hazard a guess that you do. People without chips on their shoulders don't really.
