Went away for a bit of winter sun in a Spanish island. First day there, we were sat at a table - two middle aged women and her teenage DS and two young DC pull up loungers right near us. One woman proceeds to whip her bikini off - has been topless for hours now, walking round, up to the bar, swimming etc.

She’s the only one doing it and it’s a very family orientated resort, seems weird to do it around her teenage DS! It’s not 18-30 territory (and I’m in that bracket, not an old prude!).

@MonstranceClock I wouldn’t say I’m uptight, I just don’t want to see a random woman’s boobs in my face in any circumstance, I thought going to a family type resort would be a good indicator of avoiding the 18-30 debauchery

Whenever I’ve been to a hotel pool in recent years there have been signs about appropriate poolside dress (including no topless). I think it’s outdated, as PP said.

I was shocked on holiday by the bikini bottoms that show most of the butt cheeks. I just feel embarrassed seeing other women's lower butt cheeks. I don't feel shocked about boobs. I'm 46 so I guess it's my age.

On a beach on sun lounger I guess is ok. Going up to the bar or around her teenage son is unnecessary but I do feel the same about men wondering around topless too. Neither would be comfortable for me and I would probably move away.

I love topless or nude, makes me feel really wonderful about myself and delight in all the variations of the human body.

So she was first shoving them at you and then putting them in your face. Either you are exaggerating wildly or she is indeed behaving very strangely...

If you’re offended by a pair of breasts at the beach in a country where it’s perfectly acceptable to be topless then that’s your problem and you should do more research before you travel. Woman was totally reasonable and she wasn’t to know she was sat by a prude.

The human body is beautiful and confidence is even more so.
I have barely there boobs and definitely have hang ups about my body but on the beach that goes, I love that people of all shapes and sizes are confident enough to just chill on the beach!

YABU to be weirded out by topless sunbathing.. its just breasts, you have them too you say.

However it is illegal in Spain to go into establishments, or walk around the streets in most cities, wearing bikini as a woman or tshirt less etc for men. So in that case she is BU, she should cover up whilst going to the bar
