To be uncomfortable around topless sunbathers?

Went away for a bit of winter sun in a Spanish island. First day there, we were sat at a table - two middle aged women and her teenage DS and two young DC pull up loungers right near us. One woman proceeds to whip her bikini off - has been topless for hours now, walking round, up to the bar, swimming etc.

She’s the only one doing it and it’s a very family orientated resort, seems weird to do it around her teenage DS! It’s not 18-30 territory (and I’m in that bracket, not an old prude!).

Aibu to feel uncomfortable??

Just go somewhere else? It's quite common in Europe I believe but I've never seen it myself as always gone to kids resorts when I was young and never on holiday as an adult.

I'd sunbathe topless then again I am 20 lol

I mean I knows it’s only a pair of boobs, I’ve got a pair myself but I think as I’m just not use to seeing someone topless on a beach it shocks me and I’m like don’t look don’t look....but that makes me want to look you know like when you see a car crash

It’s just skin like a man’s chest. I don’t like bare chested men in shops but on the beach, it’s fine. I do think it’s wrap a sarong around when going to the beach bar though.

I am more amazed by the number of posters thinking it is odd for a teenage boy to see exposed boobs......I think it is very healthy for boys to see old boobs, young boobs, big and small. They shouldn't think all boobs are like porn boobs.

As a child of the 60's, brought up in the 70's/80's by very laid back older parents, and spending a lot of time in France and Italy, everyone got their boobs out on the beach, from young to old. Caveat, you do not get them out in a bar, even a beach bar, very non bella figura.

I agree. I noticed far fewer topless women on beaches in Mallorca & southern France in the last couple of years than 5-10 years ago. I assume it is something to do with social media. You can post & share pictures of yourself in your tiny designer bikini, but not with your boobs out.

They’re just boobs. If you don’t like it you don’t have to watch her. Although I think going to the bar you should probably put a bikini top back on.

It doesn't make me uncomfortable, I just don't think it looks very nice.

You definitely see less boobs on the beach than you used to. It is because of phones/ being filmed/uploaded to you tube etc. I saw a man blatantly filming two teenage girls on a beach in Italy.
I love sunbathing topless but I wouldn't go to a beach bar topless. And I agree there's nothing wrong with boys seeing breasts of all shapes and sizes.

People in Barcelona are often starkers on the beach right in the city. One gentlemen was giving thorough attention to his bumhole whist showering, and there was a family playing frisbee...

I think it used to be more prevalent years ago. I did it once on holiday on a Greek island - my fair skin, never before revealed to the outside world: burnt nipples are not fun :/

We were on Ipanema beach in Rio di Janeiro a few years ago. I felt very overdressed in my halter neck swimming costume as every other woman, of every age and shape, looked cool and stylish in bikinis. Always with covering bikini tops on but teeny bottoms. My DH looked a bit uncomfortable when a lady wearing what was barely a G string - more like a piece of floss- came and sat on a lounger facing him ( I mean about 4 feet away - then flopped her legs apart and leant back. He read his book at a really uncomfortable angle , holding it to block the view, which he said was akin to being back in the delivery room for DD2 ....

Social norms means men’s chests aren’t sexualised as heavily. As a woman who’s not had children yet, I appreciate women’s chests are for both feeding and sexual purposes. Men’s on the other hand, well, don’t provoke all the leering I suppose, and I don’t feel like I’m being pushed into some weird exhibitionist taboo when Dave takes his T-shirt off :)
