To think that there are too many personal insults and attacks on Tory voters

I’m really sick of it now. I don’t log on here to be called a cunt, told I hate disabled people and want to ruin the NHS.

I’m interested as to whether others feel the same or if it is just me. If it’s just me, I think I’ll piss off.

'but I struggle to understand why so many Tory voters are such poor losers.'

Poor winners, which is somehow worse.

Guilt?

I think we're in for a massive hardening of societal attitudes against vulnerable people of all types. It will have to be their own fault, that they struggle. What is the other option, to face up to that was what you actively voted for.

tabulahrasa · 22/12/2019 15:39

“It is an embarrassment, honestly, that any adult in the UK is so ill-educated that they think the Tories are far right.“

Their manifesto was much further right than labours was to the left, further right than any other party fielding candidates, even UKIP and the Brexit party, so yes, I think they are in far right territory.

Graphista · 22/12/2019 15:40

“but huge difference between ‘I believe the bedroom tax is harmful and cruel’ and ‘you’re a cunt who wants disabled people dead.’”
Well myself and many others don’t necessarily think it IS a huge stretch between “the bedroom tax is harmful and cruel” and Tories and those who vote for them not caring that such policies can and DO result in the deaths of disabled people- this has even been documented despite Tory attempts to obfuscate and deny!

@BovaryX I was addressing ops comment there, which I would have thought was obvious but apparently not to you I will endeavour to be even clearer in future as to who’s comments I am addressing

And at no point have I claimed the moral high ground necessarily - that you think so says more about you. I’ve merely stated my opinion which is one held by many others.

I’ve personally lost 2 family members just this year as a direct result of cuts to nhs. I’ve resisted mentioning it on mn until now as it’s fairly outing but screw it its time people who voted for this shit faced up to the consequences.

So of course I find the comments regarding the deaths due to austerity particularly galling!

@KnowBetterDoBetter 😂😂

LakieLady · 22/12/2019 15:41

when you click on a thread you think is going to be about MIL out staying her welcome over Christmas and then the OP reveals that her kids have to share a room which is because of the bedroom tax and then people come in with ‘evil Tory cunts” it just really does prevent you enjoying the site.

Would it have impaired your enjoyment less had the criticism been couched in more moderate language, or is it criticism per se you object to, OP?

WatchingTheMoon · 22/12/2019 15:42

I'm not sure if politicalcompass.org is a terribly reliable source. Especially if it is claiming that the Tories are further right than the fucking DUP ffs.

VMisaMarshmallow · 22/12/2019 15:44

Gail - have you shown them the info on how the UN have found the UK guilty of violating the convention on the rights of people with disabilities as a direct result of the policies introduced by DC? There was little msm attention given to it and politicians barely mentioned it, certainly not with an apology, and obviously policies have became worse since. But the UN found that in 4 short years the coalition took us from a country with one of the best records of disability rights to the first ever to violate this convention.

Added to the (not at all left wing) IMF advice that in times of recession public spending should be increased by at least 2% to improve the economy that DC ignored.

I’m not trying to encourage labour voters btw, due to their position on erasing women’s rights currently, but I do think people need to be making an informed choice no matter which party they vote for.

strawberrieshortcake · 22/12/2019 15:44

@Frothybothie if Boris is racist why hasn’t he been prosecuted

I hope this is a joke because I am questioning your sanity but do you genuinely believe everyone who is racist in the UK is prosecuted??

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 22/12/2019 15:44

I‘m not a fan of namecalling, but the Tories have been disastrous for the most disadvantaged and vulnerable people in our society, and if you gave them your vote, I have nothing pleasant to say to you.

WatchingTheMoon · 22/12/2019 15:45

"Their manifesto was much further right than labours was to the left, further right than any other party fielding candidates, even UKIP and the Brexit party, so yes, I think they are in far right territory."

I'd really love to see your evidence for this.

Of course you are absolutely right.
The ‘lovely liberal and tolerant left’ are vitriolic fascists to anyone who doesn’t agree with them.
According to them over 3 million people are evil, selfish cunts.

NameChangeNugget · 22/12/2019 15:48

I’d laugh it off OP

Kungfupanda67 · 22/12/2019 15:48

@kalinkafoxtrot45 do you have this attitude in real life, or only online? Because a massive proportion of this country voted conservative so if you’re that closed minded that you think they’re all terrible people you can’t have many friends left!

SilverySurfer · 22/12/2019 15:49

You'[re right OP, but Labour voters appear to have been brainwashed and don't understand the concept of people having different views to them and they are obviously pissed off at not getting all the freebies Corbyn promised.. They are just about to get Corbyn version two; Rebecca Long-Bailey, chosen by Momentum, aided in her bid for the role by an extreme left winger. So looks like another few years in the wilderness, it's like they have no interest in winning.

Remember: sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.

Fraggling · 22/12/2019 15:49

OP I see you've started a thread on site stuff trekking mnhq that it's so too much.

How exactly do you want them to address your issue? You can already report any posts that breach talk guidelines.

I'm confused tbh. Do you want the way the site is moderated changed, or what?

tabulahrasa · 22/12/2019 15:50

“Especially if it is claiming that the Tories are further right than the fucking DUP ffs”

Sounds nuts eh? But their manifestos do have some differences...

WatchingTheMoon · 22/12/2019 15:51

What I'd love to know is what the cunt-callers think of the working class/BME voters who voted for the Tories...

Do you call them cunts as well? Or do you just call them thick?

Jesus, never thought I'd see the day I was defending Tory voters/policies but here we are. I am seriously sick of the left and their idiocy these days.

MissingLinker · 22/12/2019 15:51

As a labour voter, I'm tired of being called a "corbynista", naive, libtard, fascist, communist, "basically Stalin", snowflake, terrorist supporter, whining, entitled, out of touch...

There are insults thrown on both sides. I am angry, very angry, but I do understand that everyone has different personal values and will vote accordingly. So I don't call people what you have listed in your OP but that doesn't mean I don't think it.

@tabulahrasa And yet you're still not actually producing these so-called far right policies.

Fraggling · 22/12/2019 15:52

'Remember: sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.'

But plenty of people have been hurt, are suffering, or have even died, as a direct result of Tory policy. As has been mentioned lots of times on this thread.

Making your comment rather crass. Or was it supposed to be a joke?

Averyyounggrandmaofsix · 22/12/2019 15:53

I don't think Tory voters are all terrible people but I do think a lot were influenced by two newspapers who's millionaire owners are serving their own interests and have brainwashed their readers into voting against their own interests.

strawberrieshortcake · 22/12/2019 15:53

@WatchingTheMoon why would the ‘cunt-callers’ have exceptions for BME/working class Tory voters.

I didn’t realise being BME/working class excludes you from being a cunt?

KatherineJaneway · 22/12/2019 15:53

Mumsnet is like Twitter, if you post political opinions they have to be left wing or you'll be greeted with a barrage of abuse. That's why you couldn't have a balanced debate on Brexit here.
