To think that there are too many personal insults and attacks on Tory voters

I’m really sick of it now. I don’t log on here to be called a cunt, told I hate disabled people and want to ruin the NHS.

I’m interested as to whether others feel the same or if it is just me. If it’s just me, I think I’ll piss off.

"they’re currently in far right territory"

Do you really believe that? Please look up some parties in other countries that actually have far right policies. It is an embarrassment, honestly, that any adult in the UK is so ill-educated that they think the Tories are far right.

Look at Hungary or Poland or Russia.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 22/12/2019 15:18

@MsMD I think you're missing the point. People will have voted Tory for a variety of reasons, I suspect mostly because they're the best of a bad bunch. Yelling "You're murdering, evil, nasty, vile cunts" will not encourage them to listen to your points. That's just human nature.

OwlBeThere · 22/12/2019 15:19

@Soimblue well I’m glad that people dying amuses you so greatly. Hmm
I’m sure the families of the people who are already dead because of austerity arent quite so amused.
See, you object to be ‘abused’ for your views but you clearly fail to let the issues austerity causes penetrate your bubble enough to realise why people are so angry about the tories. You want people to be nice and friendly and all the while ignore their desperation and sadness and actively laugh about it. Hmm

vikkimoog · 22/12/2019 15:20

where are people on this thread actively laughing at anybody dying?

BovaryX · 22/12/2019 15:22

It’s an example of political and historical illiteracy Combined with a penchant for hysterical which is honed in the febrile echo chambers on Twitter...,

vikkimoog · 22/12/2019 15:23

ah right, i see.
The OP was laughing at the hysterical exaggeration of the poster, not at any real life person dying

Soimblue · 22/12/2019 15:23

Totally owl, I’m sat here pissing myself over it Hmm

I think the issue is the two main parties are so far on either side of the fence now. Labour is v.v left wing and the Tories have become v.v right wing - I actually saw a graph based on the policies of all the parties and it showed just how extreme both parties had become. Personally, I would rather be on the side that isn’t self serving and looks to help others in need but I wouldn’t insult someone who feels differently (not out loud anyway)

corgo · 22/12/2019 15:24

I’m very much a lefty, always green but voted labour this time so not to split the Left vote.

No problem with rich Tories who can afford private healthcare and education etc - after all, everyone voted for their own interest, that’s life. However, the working class Tories who want Brexit and Little England and the magical Blue Passport, but also their UC etc boil my piss :)

Nonnymum · 22/12/2019 15:25

siring1 I don't kmow where you got thst information from, but the reverse is true.

mindproject · 22/12/2019 15:25

You won, get over it.

GailCindy · 22/12/2019 15:27

I also have to say that they literally don't believe what is in front of their eyes.

When I discuss this with my Tory voting family members such as accounts of people taken off of DLA and PIP on the media or stories of themselves or people they know (they often even have their own),they first disbelieve the person is really disabled unless they know them and then they think of it as one bad apple in the workforce who is making incorrect assessments. They totally deny that the system is the problem. Only a few who get top ups from UC but work think the problem is UC but not the party values itself.

DrierThanANunsNasty · 22/12/2019 15:28

Just found the graph I was talking about, it’s on politicalcompass.org before anyone accuses me of believing it’s all just hysteria that the Tories are super right wing.

Frequency · 22/12/2019 15:29

I'm not sure that worrying about your survival as a disabled, low income person under Tory policy is an hysterical, overreaction considering that disabled people have actually died as a direct result of tory policy.

LakieLady · 22/12/2019 15:30

Given the low level of intellegence of Labour voters it's a good thing they lost.

Yes, all those lefties like Mark Rylance, Ken Loach, Sally Rooney, Robert Winston, Michael Mansfield, Noam Chomsky, they're all really thick, aren't they?

Unlike the towering intellect that is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, aka Tommy Robinson, racist, jailbird and former leader of the neo-Nazi EDL, who's now found his spiritual home with your lot. And has the lovely Hatie Kopkins joined yet?

DrierThanANunsNasty · 22/12/2019 15:30

Picture didn’t attach!

To think that there are too many personal insults and attacks on Tory voters
Echobelly · 22/12/2019 15:31

I'm a lefty but I have a slightly different perspective from a lot of my peers as both my parents are tories - I love and respect them, and also they are good people, so I certainly don't go with the 'Tories are all evil bigots who should die in a burning skip' line.

I do think that what the Tory party has done to the most vulnerable is terrible and must be stopped, but telling people who voted for them that they are evil, bigots, deserve to die (common parlance among many of my lefty peers) is counterproductive and unnecessary. It's hardly going to capture hearts and minds, is it?

We need to try to discuss, to explain why we feel some people are voting against their own interests and why we feel the Tories will not make their lives any better and the 'wealth' will not trickle down to them, that a left wing government won't mean the rich are made poor or that the poor can never become wealthier and so forth.

Why should the tory party ever get any better if we just say we hate them and want them to die? They'll just go 'OK, we'll never get your vote, we don't care what you want' They need to realise that a) their traditional support is literally dying off, so they need to change b) they can't just expect people to 'get more right wing as they get older' either - that only works when people are expecting their kids to have a better life than them, and that's not the case any more c) their increasing impoverishment of the poorest is counterproductive because they're just making more and more people unable to participate economically and put more pressure on health and social services

Nothing hysterical or exaggerated about the fact that people have and are dying due to the current policies. I wasn’t joking, or being hysterical. My mother has chronic COPD along with other issues. I’m currently having to heat her house as they removed her PIP despite the fact she can’t walk more than 10 feet without getting breathless and is sleeping in a chair downstairs as it’s too cold in her bedroom. She will probably die if this continues. But sure, I’m hysterical.

Bluebutterfly90 · 22/12/2019 15:35

YABU.
MN is also full of people bitching about Labour voters.
And you voted for a party that is trying to lower funding for disability and dismantle the NHS. You can't be offended if people think that's what you want. You voted for it.

I generally try and be polite to everyone, and am happy to avoid talking politics with people who I know I will clash with, but I've kind of had it with self pitying Tories. Nobody likes a sore winner.
You won, be happy. People who voted against the tories dont have to be happy about it, just as you would not be if you lost.

chatongris · 22/12/2019 15:36

I don't have a problem with people voting conservative, but I struggle to understand why so many Tory voters are such poor losers.

There will always be people who have different political opinions; if defending your opinions makes you feel belittled and attacked, then maybe you need to reconsider your opinions or just keep quiet about them. Voting is done in private and no one knows how you voted unless you choose to tell them.

Fraggling · 22/12/2019 15:37

Plenty of people have died as a direct result of cuts. NHS, benefits.

That's a simple fact.I agree people should own what they support.

I really can't understand why anyone thinks that BJ is a good choice to lead the country.

JRMs dad literally wrote a book about disaster capitalism, that sort of thing rings alarm bells for me.

I'm really worried about what's going to happen. I'm pretty comfortably off so not directly impacted (yet) but reading the news, seeing the explosion in rough sleeping, it worries me. Young women sleeping rough, you just didn't see that 15 years ago. It's the most visible sign of stats happening, to me.

And I reserve my right to think that people who support all this are, well. Good people, I suppose. It's really hard to see otherwise.

Havaina · 22/12/2019 15:39

Is that honestly what you want?

I didn't vote but I think you're an annoying drama llama, OP. Get over yourself.

cuppycakey · 22/12/2019 15:39

You LAUGHED at the FACT that Tory policies are leading to the deaths of the disabled, sick and otherwise vulnerable? And then you wonder why Tory voters are believed to be heartless?! I despair I really fucking despair that’s a despicable comment to make!

OP when you post about your own behaviour, and it is as vile and disgusting as this, how do you expect people to react? Not exactly giving Tories a good name are you?
