When do you eat the Christmas treat food?

Me and Dp have this argument every year. We've just done the Xmas food shop including treats. He thinks we shouldn't touch it until Christmas Eve and I think we should spread the joy by starting it now.

AIBU or is he?

He is!! We started eating stollen two weeks ago and have already got through two tubs of choccies!! Am eating battered prawn party food for dinner. Go for it!!

supadupapupascupa · 21/12/2019 19:40

Not till dh finishes work. This year it's Monday

FruityWidow · 21/12/2019 19:40

The Christmas cake was finished by Dec 12th this year in this house.

Kit19 · 21/12/2019 19:40

We started tonight!!

Ffsnosexallowed · 21/12/2019 19:42

Sweets and stuff are fair game any time now - but you can't cut Christmas cake until Christmas day???!!!!!

thistimelastweek · 21/12/2019 19:42

I am with your husband on this. Everything is forbidden until Christmas eve then the rules are reversed. Then, it's all, 'eat up that 5 tons of stuff that cost a fortune before it goes off '

I realise I am unreasonable.

UrsulaPandress · 21/12/2019 19:42

Today. HTH.

IHaveBrilloHair · 21/12/2019 19:45

I've eaten a box of stollen, but not touched anything else yet.
I'm so tempted to open the pate and eat it with a fork thoughXmas Blush

Misselsa · 21/12/2019 19:46

I think your DP is correct, if you do not buy this type of food every shop then, it's a special treat, so should be eaten only at Christmas. For a quiet life just agree DP is right😂

IHaveBrilloHair · 21/12/2019 19:46

Haha thistime
Same here, once it's open I'm practically forcing it on Dd Xmas Grin

Powerbunting · 21/12/2019 19:47

I've been pondering exactly this. I've not broken up from work yet. But do have the weekend off.

But still have birthday cake. So I'll start there

Bluewavescrashing · 21/12/2019 19:47

I've nearly finished my Baileys already (over the course of 10 days) Blush

Food- we have mince pies in and they are going quite quickly, I don't eat them though. Chocolate log is untouched until 24th. Celebrations are half gone. Stollen was out of stock, thanks Ocado 😢

We're not hosting lunch so I just have a usual weekly shop in the fridge and cupboards plus the above treats.

OhTheRoses · 21/12/2019 19:48

Few sweets and stuff. Too many super dinners between now and Boxing day to think about it. Come 27th I'll do a quick Sainos run for half price fab cheeses, pates and various other yummy bits and we'll graze through to NY.

dudsville · 21/12/2019 19:48

We started small scale on December 1st, started properly today!

Snog · 21/12/2019 19:49

I have eaten a whole box of florentines and 2 mince pies and 2 bags of rocky road.

The rest of my family is innocent.

dudsville · 21/12/2019 19:49

Ooh, you could enjoy yourself and he could wait while sitting in scroogey judgement! Mwahaha!

User12879923378 · 21/12/2019 19:51

In my opinion it is acceptable to open Christmassy treats now for social visits - we had stollen and mince pies during our playdate today - but the actual lolling on a sofa with a box of chocolates or a massive bag of crisps is to be limited to evening of 24th-evening of 26th (with a short relapse 31st-evening of 1st).

SabineUndine · 21/12/2019 19:51

I'm supposed to be watching what I eat so I've said I can have Christmas Eve (once I'm home from work) Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Sadly I'm no longer able to eat as much rich food as in my youth. I'll give it a good try though ; )

User12879923378 · 21/12/2019 19:51

I mean, that's my aspiration, from which mince pies are very much excluded Blush

YahooGmail · 21/12/2019 19:51

Your DH is the opposite to mine. I don't even do the shopping until Christmas eve as he'd eat all the treats today and then I'd have to get moreXmas Grin

FoamingAtTheUterus · 21/12/2019 19:55

I've started slowly nibbling. As in nibbling a couple of quality street when I make a cup of tea.......I won't be holding back when Tuesday comes round tho. Pahahahaha

MarianaMoatedGrange · 21/12/2019 20:01

Ooh, you could enjoy yourself and he could wait while sitting in scroogey judgement! Mwahaha!

Bonus points for making orgasmic noises while eating said treats, sitting next to him on the sofa Xmas Grin

Beautiful3 · 21/12/2019 20:02

Neither. We open the treats on christmas day, after our dinner!

fishonabicycle · 21/12/2019 20:03

We just started the Christmas cake this afternoon.

Stravapalava · 21/12/2019 20:04

I got some lebkuchen a couple of weeks ago that we ate.

Regarding the twiglets, doritos, celebrations etc, it gets opened on the evening of the last day of term!
