Me and Dp have this argument every year. We've just done the Xmas food shop including treats. He thinks we shouldn't touch it until Christmas Eve and I think we should spread the joy by starting it now.

AIBU or is he?

We started tonight its Christmas week we all finished up on Friday between school and work and I don't want stuff hanging round in the new year when I'm trying to be healthy :)

We started last night! Cheese board, twiglets and quality street opened, it's now officially Christmas 👊

Newschapter · 21/12/2019 20:45

I wish we'd have bought a cheese board. I fancy it now.

We had lunch out today and DH is away out with friends tonight, I can't be arsed cooking.

Ds, a teenager, made himself dinner earlier but I'm starting to get a bit peckish. I'll probably open the pringles and crackers - but I have no cheese!!

We've ate two tubs of celebrations here, a few tubes of pringles and quite a lot of handy Iceland party food.... but we've not done our proper big shop yet.

Newschapter · 21/12/2019 20:45

^ that was over the course of December ^

Milsplus3 · 21/12/2019 20:50

Always start a week before Christmas to spread it out evenly Grin I buy so much chocolate if I saved it til Christmas Eve id be fed up with it

BoomZahramay · 21/12/2019 20:56

We start on Xnas Eve. I buy enough stuff to keep us in xmas treats and leftovers up until New Year.

SeasideThisChristmas · 21/12/2019 20:57

We had party food and wine for dinner tonight. Why not? Xmas Grin

MrsWonderland · 21/12/2019 21:27

Love this thread.

I usually wait but all I've eaten today is cheese and Waitrose's "giant Jaffa cake dessert".

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

December Blush

tillytrotter1 · 21/12/2019 22:29

My O(I never eat chocolate)H has demolished the Celebrations almost, a pile of Snickers left.

Starheart · 21/12/2019 22:35

Scoffed two mince pies tonight . Rest of the stuff will be started on xmas eve which will be a party food buffet . It's a wee tradition me and my dh have .

Jodie77 · 21/12/2019 22:39

The moment the kids finished school yesterday. Just mince pies, chocolate selection, bits like that

Copperblack · 21/12/2019 22:44

We ( adults) are in testing phase. When everything has been deemed fit, the children will be allowed access from 24th 😀

Notagainnnn · 21/12/2019 22:44

When the kids come home from school on their last day of term.

CheekyFuckersDontGetPastMe · 21/12/2019 22:49

The game is on here...

countdowntochristmas · 21/12/2019 22:54

Christmas Eve although if it was up to dh it would be earlier . I'm doing food shop tomorrow so will have to police the treats .
We have been eating mince pies throughout December though Xmas Grin

Nousernameforme · 21/12/2019 22:58

After school is out it's acceptable for guests. For us ourselves not until christmas eve. I've not even iced the cake yet. I will do that tomorrow might let them crack into that a bit early

Strictly1972 · 21/12/2019 23:00

I’m on it. I’ve had to break out the elasticated waistbands already 😬

Runbikeswim · 21/12/2019 23:02

I thought it was just feasting on Christmas Day 🤷‍♂️

CrowleysBentley · 21/12/2019 23:03

I've just eaten about half a tub of hotel chocolat kirsch cherries, so I guess we started on the good stuff today! Usually wait until Christmas eve, but they were sat on the side looking at me, and they are my favourite.

Hippywannabe · 21/12/2019 23:07

Xmas Eve afternoon. Having had 3 Ds, I know that once opened, it is finished and gone. Ds2, DDIL and DGS arrive then, till Boxing Day, DS1 will come over and apparently (according to DS1) DS3 and future DIL are coming over too for the evening. Once they have all gone home, DH and I will have the leftovers plus a few bits we have hidden away.

ToEarlyForDecorations · 21/12/2019 23:16

Purchased cheese and crackers today. Sampled one of the cheeses and a bit of the pate.

Also got a gammon to cook and some smoked salmon as M&S had discounted the cost of both by a third.

I guzzled the salmon it was very nice.

We opened the chocolate truffles last night.

SuperMeerkat · 21/12/2019 23:18

We started today 🎉🎉

WireBrushAndDettolMaam · 21/12/2019 23:19
