The only one I remember is when I was 12 and I was Snow White. I have no idea whether I ever featured in previous plays. I was a desperately shy child and I remember absolutely hating being Snow White as I was on stage alone a lot. I don't recall any nativities?

Ds has featured as an innkeeper and a shepherd quite a lot.

And narrator.

I was ‘all the other angels’ once - aka the angels that weren’t the angel Gabriel, I only had a tinsel crown but Gabriel got a proper tiara and wings Grin. At one point the narrator said something like ‘and all the other angels came out to see Jesus’ or something and I had to sort of flutter across the stage. Oscar worthy.

Garlicinyoursoul · 15/12/2019 20:53

Shepherd 2 - I had my mums tea towel on my head, and tripped over a chair at the back of the room as we did our trip around the hall with our sheep.

DoTheHop · 15/12/2019 20:54

Aw sparklesocks I'm sure you were a brilliant 'all the other angels' pmsl

Narrator. Always narrator. Apart from one year...when I was one of Herod's soldiers AND a narrator!

MyNewBearTotoro · 15/12/2019 20:55

We had a school play every year at school. Can’t remember all of my roles but they included a robin, a fairy, a doll and a snowflake. For some reason I think I can remember the earlier years better than the ones where I was older.

Witchend · 15/12/2019 20:56

Random villager aged 5yo.
I think I was going to be an angel in the Sunday School one but it snowed too hard to get there.

Fanlights · 15/12/2019 20:57

Random angel, but I had a brilliant seventies white mini dress from my cool aunt, which was a perfect maxi on me aged six — and I had the nicest tinsel halo and coathanger wings. I was probably the only angel visibly admiring herself and ignoring the shepherds and the Baby Jesus.

bookworm14 · 15/12/2019 20:57

In reception I was a ‘Bethlehem person’, then the following year I seem to remember carrying some holly on a pole Confused. I was then in the choir every year until I left. My sister got to be Mary one year, complete with a real baby (someone’s brother) playing Jesus.

UserPop · 15/12/2019 20:59

The only proper nativity I remember doing in Primary school was when I was a wise man (I am female), and I had to bring in a video tape in wrapping paper for baby Jesus!

DoTheHop · 15/12/2019 20:59

Funny that I have no recollection of 0-11 years! I vividly recall snow white year though as the wicked stepmother was delayed in costume change so I had to remain on stage singing my song over and over with the headmaster winding his arms up in stress to make me keep singing. I was quite happy to die when the apple came out. Except we hadn't had a full rehearsal, so the dead snow white had to chew the apple.

I was a star. Apparently I used the star to hit the angels on the head.

I was a nice child normally.

Ciwirocks · 15/12/2019 21:00

I was a doll twice 🤷‍♀️, an angel or fairy can’t remember exactly and I got the coveted role of Mary one year and my own solo 💁‍♀️. Never sang a solo since so not sure that’s anything to shout about ha ha

elliejjtiny · 15/12/2019 21:00

I was an angel a few times. Loved being an angel and always managed to secretly add a bit more tinsel to the costume Grin.

OublietteBravo · 15/12/2019 21:00

In reception I was a flower. I’m not sure how that fitted with the nativity.

DS was one of the 3 kings and DD was an angel/narrator.

elliejjtiny · 15/12/2019 21:01

I also played Judas in an Easter play once. I was not impressed!

OublietteBravo · 15/12/2019 21:01

One of my sisters was the back end of the donkey Grin

Flep · 15/12/2019 21:02

Mary two years running. Innkeeper one year. An angel another year. Other years I was just in the chorus.

MissingLinker · 15/12/2019 21:02

I was an angel in reception, the fourth (and best) innkeeper in year one, and a narrator in year two.

I had made quite a good narrator until I had a fight over the the microphone with another narrator and bit the school priest on the arm when he tried to drag me off stage.

Thankfully, I had no more nativities after that.

Rose789 · 15/12/2019 21:03

I peaked at age 4 and was Mary in the nativity. My whole life has been spent trying to reach such glorious heights again but alas no... I was a donkey (literally sat on the floor in school uniform with a giant mask over my face) a shepherd (tea towel on my head) an angel (wearing a ghost costume I had for Halloween just with the head bit chopped off and some tinsel sellotaped to it) and one year a shrub- not even a tree-a fucking shrub!!!

DefConOne · 15/12/2019 21:04

I was always random sheep 2 on the left type thing in nativities. One year I got a proper speaking part as an angel and it was the best thing that had happened to me. Had tonsillitis and couldn’t go. I was 6 or 7 and still remember trying to convince my parents I could manage it despite raging temperature.

22Giraffes · 15/12/2019 21:04

I was one of the 5 Golden Rings! I remember the anticipation as they counted the 12 days of Christmas until finally I (and the 4 other rings) were unleashed upon the stage for our 5 seconds of fame Xmas Grin

The dc are sick of the story now Blush😂

DoTheHop · 15/12/2019 21:05

I think I was the back end of a cow one year now that you mention it!

LaurieMarlow · 15/12/2019 21:05

I was the narrator more than once (boring role with lots of lines) but I was also a star, a doll, the innkeepers wife and head robin Grin.

My brother was a member of the local football team and my niece was a Christmas pudding. Blush
