The only one I remember is when I was 12 and I was Snow White. I have no idea whether I ever featured in previous plays. I was a desperately shy child and I remember absolutely hating being Snow White as I was on stage alone a lot. I don't recall any nativities?

I love all the random parts - cherry, french hen, shrub... I'm sat here chuckling!

chocodrops · 15/12/2019 22:24

I was an angel when tiny and perfect for it with golden ringlets 🙌

Then I was only blooming MARY!!! BUT I complained bitterly about it because I wanted to be a king 🙄

BinkyBaa · 15/12/2019 22:24

Innkeeper. I asked to be mary or an angel then developed a bit of a complex about the other girls getting a girly role while I had a boy role (or what I thought was one at the time anyway). I was only 5 but the injustice makes it my earliest memory!

silly0ne · 15/12/2019 22:25

I remember discussing this in a staff room, some years ago. It was surprising how many teachers of English, related subjects, had been narrators in nativity plays. I could be the case that they were early/good readers.

ProperVexed · 15/12/2019 22:25

Stand aside. The Angel Gabriel is here! I was about 8 years old and only picked because I was blonde. My best friend was Mary. She had dark hair.

WhenYouCantRunYouCrawl · 15/12/2019 22:26

I was an angel in nursery where I apparently wailed on stage the entire time, but for some reason they decided to make me Mary in reception. It was very controversial at the time because I was blonde and apparently this was seen as a bit leftfield at the time.

monkeytennis97 · 15/12/2019 22:28

Don't think we had school nativities (CofE primary in 70s and 80s) but did at church and I was a king twice, the innkeeper once and a shepherd once. I wasn't really a girly girl so no Mary or angels for me.

chocodrops · 15/12/2019 22:29

@BenevolentEzza getting demoted every year - bahahahaha 😂

Bloodybridget · 15/12/2019 22:30

When I was in the Infants I was the rabbit in a school play called "The hole in the sack", only because the costume fitted me, I think. I believe I had one line, but I got to hop around the stage a lot.

FlamingoAndJohn · 15/12/2019 22:30

I was Mary, twice. Once in school and once in playgroup.
I had very long very straight black hair, blue eyes and skin like alabaster.

RozHuntleysStump · 15/12/2019 22:30

I was always an angel.

Snuffkindle · 15/12/2019 22:31

A shepherd. My eldest son was a wise man. When it came to.my younger son the school nativity was in an experimental stage, he was a grandad watching Christmas telly.

sideorderofchips · 15/12/2019 22:31

A grain of sand.

MajesticWhine · 15/12/2019 22:33

I remember being an angel and I peed myself during the performance.

AppleKatie · 15/12/2019 22:45

I also peaked at age 4 as Mary. After that just about everything at one stage of childhood or another (church with a small congregation but big theatrical ambitions 😂)

I was a polar bear in year 2, I thought I was bloody brilliant at it too 😂

isthewinefinished · 15/12/2019 22:46

Narrator. There were two of us and no one else had any lines. Narrator 2 (I'm looking at you Toby White) didn't turn up so I had to read the whole thing. I did get his selection box as well as mine as a reward so not all bad

venusandmars · 15/12/2019 22:48

The angel Gabriel - because it was a part with lots of reading. I wanted to be Mary, but she had no lines...

Not nativity, but my dsis and I were dressing up. She had on all the lovely clothes, I wore an old brown tunic. Apparently she was snow white, and I was the seven dwarves. Yes all 7 of them!

ChipsCheeseAndBeans · 15/12/2019 22:51

A sinner (gambling I think), a munchkin, a glockenspiel player and a narrator.

PanamaPattie · 15/12/2019 22:51

I was tiny and blonde. I played the angel Gabriel and I stood on a stool and sang "Away in a Manger". Not a dry eye in the house!

PearlandRubies194 · 15/12/2019 22:56

A tree.

I always wanted to be Mary.

Costacoffeeplease · 15/12/2019 23:28

For some reason there were lots of children from different countries visiting baby Jesus in my nativity play

I, Celtic background, dark hair but pale skinned with freckles was from ...... BorneoGrin

I was dressed in some sort of strapless outfit which was constantly in danger of falling down. No idea why they thought I could pass as from Borneo 🤷‍♀️

StCharlotte · 15/12/2019 23:30

Don't think we had school nativities (CofE primary in 70s and 80s) but did at church

Ours was a CofE primary. The school nativity was always performed in the church.

Thelnebriati · 15/12/2019 23:33

I was the narrator apart from the year I was a slave for some bizarre reason.

DioneTheDiabolist · 15/12/2019 23:37

Another eternal Narrator here.

ilovepixie · 15/12/2019 23:42

I wasn't ever in a school play!
