The only one I remember is when I was 12 and I was Snow White. I have no idea whether I ever featured in previous plays. I was a desperately shy child and I remember absolutely hating being Snow White as I was on stage alone a lot. I don't recall any nativities?

I was a random villager I think. Was told I couldn't be an angel as I wasn't blonde Confused.

DH was the Snowman in his primary school production of the Snowman. It completely went to his head and he mentions it regularly.

gothefcktosleep · 15/12/2019 21:07

Nursery: angel
Primary school: a cherry (I had to do a rolly poly across the stage), one of the shepherds and then 3rd triangle...

FenellaMaxwell · 15/12/2019 21:08

Narrator every year, apart from one when I was Gabriel, who was the head of a choir of angels, and the dickhead kid next to me nearly set my hair on fire with their candle. I can still remember all of the narration. And Matthew Robsinson, you may have had a lovely singing voice but you were a monumentally thick 7 year old Grin

youcanonlydraftthefuture · 15/12/2019 21:08

I came on to brag that I was Mary Grin and incredibly devastated when my crush wasn't chosen as Joseph,'but some random new boy I couldn't stand

The baby Jesus was one of those plastic dolls with the willies you get in primary schools (what are they all about?).

My DH still chuckles to this day that his friend was part of a cow and had to say 'moo'. He was a very boring shepherd

Pippapotomus · 15/12/2019 21:08

I was the Inn keeper who let's them have the stable. Just before it was my go someone's small toddler ran over and pulled my fake beard off (I was sat on a bench at the front facing the audience). I stood up and burst into tears. My 'wife' said my lines.

Angel Gabriel. I wore my rather bridal first holy communion dress, and a tinsel halo.

DramaAlpaca · 15/12/2019 21:10

I was Mary I suspect it's because I was so shy I wouldn't have been able to cope with a speaking part.

I got into trouble because apparently I was supposed to bring in a doll to play the baby Jesus, but I didn't because nobody had told me.

helpfulperson · 15/12/2019 21:11

I vaguely remember being an angel in a church production but the only clear school memory i have is being a lizard although i suspect that wasnt a nativity Smile

LaurieMarlow · 15/12/2019 21:12

Yeah you had to be blonde OR have an older sister with a first communion dress to be an angel in my school. Discrimination, pure and simple.

DoTheHop · 15/12/2019 21:13

I know I never was Mary or I'd have remembered such an important role.
Now that I think of it, I think we only did plays in our school every three years.

Various angels but more often than not a narrator.

Avonandice · 15/12/2019 21:14

The only one I remember was being with Gabriel, probably partly because I had waist length blonde hair and 'looked' like an Angel, that and it was exactly the same role I'd had the year before at a different school. I'd moved schools in the september and as they realised I knew the speech bit it saved on rehersal time.

caffeine99 · 15/12/2019 21:14

I was Mary. That was 32 years ago but I still remember it. Our names were picked out of a hat and my cousin was actually Joseph.

Alas my children have not had as much luck - they've been a sheep, shepherd and angel (boy and girl)

IShitGlitter · 15/12/2019 21:14

I was an angel in reception. I remember we were sat in the hall with our names being called out then our roles announced. I was left until last to be told Mary well I cried and cried because I wanted to be an angel. So they swapped me with another girl who was an angel.

After that I was a narrator EVERY SINGLE year. Although in hind sight i had loads of speaking parts ....not that any bugger ever came to see me do them but that's a whole other can of worms Xmas Sad

JellyNo15 · 15/12/2019 21:15

Mary two years running, aged ten in Sunday school and aged eleven in my last year of primary school. Previously I was one of a host of angels and wince Gabriel. My acting career declined rapidly after that.

FloydWasACat · 15/12/2019 21:15

I was a rabbit. Think Watership Down...that was my mask.

GruciusMalfoy · 15/12/2019 21:15

I was Mary, twice. Absolute scenes when all the other mothers found out second time around Xmas Grin

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 15/12/2019 21:15

I only remember one. I was the well known, biblical rusty bell.

Sunshine1239 · 15/12/2019 21:16

I was a star

All the brunettes were stars and blondes were snowflakes

catwithflowers · 15/12/2019 21:16

A shepherd, aged 3 at nursery and Mary, aged 14, at Sunday School 😇

LightDrizzle · 15/12/2019 21:16

Never Mary! That’s all I remember. Andrée was Mary one year and she kept dropping out of character, I’d never have done that. I’d have breathed the role. Fools.

livingthegoodlife · 15/12/2019 21:16

The star that led everyone to Bethlehem. Gold tutu and I hot to do two laps around the hall. Amazing.

Also a Morris dancer & choir. Probably narrator at some point too.

SerenDippitty · 15/12/2019 21:16

I was never in a school nativity but was an angel in the Sunday school one.
